Walter Foods Ratings and Reviews
I hadn't been to Walter Foods in a few years. Went with friends on a Wednesday night. We sat out back. Any 'Snacks' menu that includes devilled eggs and pigs and blankets is worth the trip. I had blackened catfish, that was well cooked and not overly heavy on the Cajun spices. The cauliflower of all things was excellent. All in all a solid and non-rushed dinner out with the guys.
We had dinner with friends from out of town on a Friday night, and while the food was good, the music was so loud that we couldn't hear each other. We asked several times to lower the volume, but no one did. The music put a damper on what otherwise would have been a great meal.
Walter is the perfect neighborhood staple and a very versatile restaurant. It could work for a date, a small group of friends, weekend brunch, late dinner, etc. I most recently came to celebrate a great year with a work colleague / friend and it was the perfect choice. Great ambiance with a bustling crowd, warm atmosphere, comfy booths, friendly service and no wait, and most importantly great food and drinks. Get the steak frites and artichoke dip! Really lovely and I highly recommend.
This place is quintessential Brooklyn. Small, great music, wait staff dancing behind the bar in off moments, but the good is gourmet, prices are fair, and service is knowledgeable and full of personality. We had 7 people celebrating two birthdays, and we fit nicely in a large booth, and had a great meal and a great time. I'd highly recommend.
Had a really nice night here, our waiter Charles was excellent as it was our first time he gave us some recommendations. The food was delicious we shared the chicken lollipops, crab cakes, and deviled eggs. I then split a French dip with my hubby it was really good, tender, juicy filet on a crispy baguette, mouth watering. Cocktails were strong and to be honest a bit on the rocket fuel tasting side but overall no complaints it was a fun night with good food good friends and a great waiter.
I love this spot. Great music, the food sounds standard but the actual preparations are very interesting. And the bar is great, the drinks menu is organized by base drink (vodka, gin, etc) which is the way I think about what to drink. Totally recommended. Just as a note to future guests, they charge for the sparkling water. Just bear that in mind if you're watering down your long-day thirst with it thinking it was free. Walter Foods is a must-visit for me every time I'm in Williamsburg.
Ate here with some friends on Monday the 8th of February. We had a great time. The service was perfect, as was the food. Deviled Eggs, Pig N, a Blanket, Mini Crab Cakes, perfect starters with drinks. Layered Eggplant Parm, Roast 1/2 chicken (huge, we took half of it home) and the bar steak were all perfectly cooked and delicious. I've been to the bar before, for oysters, I'll definitely be back.
My dinner experience at Walter Foods was overall, really enjoyable. The restaurant is rather small, which might make it hard to get a table right away, but luckily we made a rez. It's a charming little place with a spacious bar and maybe 10 -15 tables. We sat down and were waited on right away. The food was VERY good and the menu had options, but was focused and not overwhelming. If you're into comfort food, I think you're in for a treat here. I think I'll be making my way back eventually to try so of the other options and would definitely recommend it to friends.
Made a random reservation to meet the family for dinner, turned out to be a truly great pick. The food was wonderful, along the lines of comfort food. We sampled appetizers, some had main courses as well as sandwiches and desserts. Not one complaint to be had. The mashed potatoes were heavenly. The atmosphere was just right, loved the music. Overall a pleasant family night out. Thanks so much.
