The food and wine were outstanding. The service was impeccable, with very attentive staff. Wait times between dishes were well managed, and water was always taken care of. All wait staff were very knowledgeable about wines and dishes. The only suggestion I have is to let guests know that the sirloin is slightly more salty than is usually the case.

A lovely evening at a refined & genteel classic reminiscent of Vienna. The tastes were extraordinary & the staff welcoming & generous. We share our compliments with Chef Kurt Gutenbrunner.
It was by far the best restaurant during our 6 days in New York.
At other restaurants we payed a lot and never ever got the same excellent quality and service we got in the Wallsé. The welcome, the service, the food, just everything was outstanding. It's a 100% worth the money.

Beautiful cozy restaurant, great server and service. Our three course menu featured the schnitzel, which was light and delicious. Loved it!
Wallse is one the few restaurants in the city where you can get great European white asparagus in season. While the portion is small (two spears for an appetizer) the asparagus was excellent (and very nice thick Spears) and the lemon hollaindaise worked perfectly with the asparagus. I also had the white asparagus soup with lobster ravioli (very nice) and a perfectly prepared rack of lamb. My hubby had a delicious Schnitzel.
Lovely place to meet, eat and have a meaningful conversation with friends. Elegant ambiance, excellent food and service, this is a rarity in the NY restaurant scene.

Wallsé is such a hidden gem, unique not just in its food (Austrian) but in its longevity - it has been around for 19 years, and the depth of that experience shows itself in all of the right ways. Most importantly, Wallsé has superb food - hands-down the best veal Weiner Schnitzel I have ever had, warm service, intimate restaurant, low-noise level (even on a Saturday night). The food is so well-balanced and perfectly seasoned. I also loved the seasonal dishes of white asparagus cooked to perfection with hollandaise sauce. You cannot go wrong with this restaurant for a special occasion and a memorable experience. Can't wait to go back!
Wallse never disappoints for food or ambiance. Sommelier was very helpful in explaining St. Laurent wines to us.

Great food. Highlights included the arctic char, spatzle, white asparagus soup, and wiener schnitzel. Good Austrian wines with friendly, helpful somm.
Not worth the price
We miss their sister restaurant Blau Gans, Wallse is higher end, but excellent. Service was a little slow.
Loved it. First time, not the last.
We had a memorable and delicious meal. The waiter and sommelier were happy to answer questions and explain the food and the wine. We got the four course menu with the wine pairing. The sommelier was hapy to spend time describing the wines and also wrote out the list for us. I am already looking forward to going there again.
Interesting menu, excellent wine list and truly great service
This was our first return to Wallse since leaving the West Village many years ago. It was not as good as we remembered, and the food was quite disappointing. At best, some of the dishes might be described as just good, and all of the flavors seemed muted. The foie gras torchon had little impact, the venison ragout was dried out, and the lamb had little flavor. Wallse did not live up to its reputation or its Michelin star. The restaurant has a mildly upscale feel, the dining room is attractive and the service is very good. There is a very extensive list of Austrian wines, which are priced high, but not out of reach. We did not really like the $95 bottle of riesling recommended to us by the sommelier with a long dissertation.
The five course tasting menu was a bit different than advertised on their site, but the substitution for the soup course I believe couldn't have been better. The elevated Austrian fare was well executed, brought solid flavors, and showcased a wide range of culinary talent. To say this was the best wiener schnitzel I have had is an understatement. The atmosphere was relaxed, and the service staff were attentive.
Fantastic spot. Haven’t been in a while but it’s a terrific restaurant. The cooking was subtle, wine was fantastic. A 2007 Gruner. Service impeccable and low noise. An adult restaurant.

Very attentive, but not overbearing staff. Food was amazing. Between the two of us, we got different things for three courses each. All of the food was divine. Would recommend over and over. Who knew Austrian food could be this complex and decadent? Ten stars to Wallsé, if I could.

Wallse is located on a picturesque West Village corner, and decorated nicely inside.
The service was attentive and polite. The food, however, was underwhelming. Had it been delicious it would be worth the price, but it was really nothing too special and then expensive on top of that. If you're looking for a fine-dining experience, I would check elsewhere.
