Walker's Grille Ratings and Reviews
Walkers is a good restaurant working on becoming better. I like the wine pairing dinner nights.
Where Walkers can improve is adding more refresh fruits, the orange juice should be squeezed not from a box. The menu should revamped it’s been the same a long while now. The chief should have specialties dishes daily. This is a good restaurant but can be so much more.
The food was okay, did not have a lot of flavor. the calamari breading fell off in the bowl. The cobb salad had grissel pieces of the chicken in it, and the dressing did not really have any flavor (honey mustard).
It seems to me the food has gone down hill since it initially opened. It's a great location and has good ambience for the working and social crowd, but the food needs to improve for the prices charged.
This spot is a hidden gem. Once inside, or even on the patio, you will forget you are in a business park. Weekend brunch is great, it's a casual environment, very laid back. My poached eggs came out really overcooked once and they eagerly offered to correct it. Dinner during the week is usually beautifully quiet - and that's the best part.
We gather with another couple monthly and alternate who chooses the restaurant. It was our turn and Walkers Grill was the restaurant of choice. The food was fabulous...some of the best calamari ever...cooked to perfection! Having perfectly-sized entree portions was refreshing and naturally they are beautifully garnished. My husband and I had the scallops and they were melt in your mouth delicious! Our friends were equally impressed especially with the roasted Brussel sprouts with cranberries...an unexpected flavorful surprise. When the weather is friendlier, the outdoor seating is a must for happy hour and dining... making Walkers quite the neighborhood gem!
One of the worst meals I have ever had. One would think "fish & chips" to be pretty ordinary (i.e., safe), but the fish wasn't done, and the batter was soggy. It wasn't any better after I sent it back, and no offer was made to correct or amend the bill. Nor was I asked why I didn't finish my meal. The accompanying fries were limp and tasteless. They were out of two items on the menu. I hear that this restaurant might be closing - I think they should do us all a favor and just DO IT!
My husband and I have been to Walker's Grille 2-3 times over the years (in their early years), but it's been at least 2 years since we've dined at the restaurant. I love the new booths and the ambiance is quite pleasant and not that crowded. Everyone who worked there was super nice. However, we were extremely disappointed with the food. The quality was not as good and fresh as we've had previously. The oysters were dry and unseasoned and the slaw they came in was too creamy. I did not like the olive oil mashed potatoes...it gave it an unfresh taste. Please use butter. And the steak (my husband's and son's) was underwhelming and under seasoned. The wines we drank were also on the cheap tasting side. My stuffed chicken was only okay, pretty dry. I think I like the frozen chicken cordon blue from the grocery store better. We also had dessert...The apple fritters. Again, okay...too sweet for my taste. We're wondering if there's a different chef, because Walker's Grille used to be a hidden gem in Springfield/Alexandria. Unfortunately, we will not be back.
Came here on a Sunday morning for brunch as the restaurant opened. Service was great, server was new and did a good job. Restaurant was nice. Food was okay, not amazing but enjoyable. I thought the pancakes were a bit overpriced at $13, as there was just a stack of pancakes and only a couple pieces of fruit. Outside area looks nice. Overall 4/5 stars.
We were presented a menu that was not available. Several items from previous experiences were missing and not replaced with the same base ingredients (octopus, crab cake)
Some of the price has significantly changed.
They do a good job on appetizers we can;'t say the same for the entrees or sides.
We had a lovely dinner on a Sunday evening. The half price bottle of wine was a nice plus, but the food was superb. The service was first rate and lots of personal attention. The outside patio dining was exactly what we wanted. The only detractor is that the patio adjoins a parking lot, but it was well done and cozy. A great place to hang out.
Concept is better than the execution. Service was particularly disorganized and ineffective. Several standard items on the menu were not available and the servers didn't seem to know about it. Food preparation was uneven, somethings being quite good, others not so much. Rockfish was excellent, but risotto cake was very dry and not a good combination of tastes. Trout wasn't evenly cooked. Enjoyed having a flatbread as an appetizer for the table. Been here several times and always wished the food and service was better than it actually was. Service and food preparation need to take a step up.
Walker's Grill is one of Alexandria's best kept secrets. The Happy Hour Wine selection is awesome. House wines are $4! And delicious.
Every meal I've had here has been terrific. Free parking, great outdoor space. The Restaurant Week menu was great and we enjoyed the 3 course dinner. Can't wait to go back!
my friends and I went there for restaurant week and our 3 course meal was outstanding with excellent service..............large portions, great price and excellent prep..................should not miss their restaurant week offerings!
I was looking for a new place close by. Once agin Open Table steered me right. I enjoyed the creative farm to table menu selections. We sat outside for a wonderful night. I wish I had had more time to listen to a couple sets of the live entertainment. We will be back.
My third time coming here and I have to say the food just gets better and better! Portion sizes are generous and the price for the amazing food is very reasonable. I had the rockfish while my dining companion had the ribeye special, both delicious and devoured. Also recommend getting the Brussels sprouts! What a great hidden gem!
First time eating here. The dining room was small, so tables are set close together. Not a place to go for an intimate dinner. Decor was neutral and no ambiance at all. The outdoor patio is set up with comfy looking furniture for sipping and dining, but it was raining on our visit. We had viewed their online menu beforehand, so we knew it would be a pricey experience. This wasn't an issue for us until we were served our dinners. The portions were small and lacking in any real, distinctive flavors. Very bland. We felt the chef was more concerned with appearance than quality. We left the restaurant still hungry which is just wrong when paying those kind of prices. I will give the staff kudos for excellent and friendly service, but won't be going back.
Usually really good food here. I think they had hoped to shut down early on a slow night, but we had made a reservation for a dinner 7 PM Sunday night. Food was 'meh' at best. Appetizers were good, entrees were soggy, un-seared bland seafood that lacked seasoning and flavor in general. Am usually very pleased with eating here, but was sorely disappointed, especially for the price.
Ate on the patio, but other group had 2 gentleman that smoked 3-4 times during dinner, directly upwind from us. Disappointing, will probably wait awhile to go back, and I won't be recommending it any time soon.
This was the absolute worst meal I've had in Northern Virginia. My 4th visit to Walkers over the past couple of years and each time was progressively going in the wrong direction. What a shame given the lovely outside patio area which would be nice for dining if the food was good. A patron brought his dog for the dining experience. Love dogs--but both waitresses petted the dog. My comfort level decreased. This restaurant has the potential to be a great venue if the food was remotely --significantly better.
