Waldhaus Restaurant - Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel Ratings and Reviews
We got engaged at the fairmont hotel just an hour before our reservation (I had no idea!) and the dinner was amazing and so delicious. Our waiter was above and beyond, as well as the other waiters who were serving other tables took time to check on us. The wild boar goulash was amazing. As well as the schnitzel!!
The old Banff Springs Golf Course Clubhouse converted to a pub and restaurant featuring swiss décor and swiss food including lots of fondue options plus much more. A fun dinner location that is a short walk downhill from the grand Banff Springs Hotel-The Castle of the Rockies!
The Waldhaus requires a bit of a hike and quite a few steps which is not good for all. Once inside, it is as though one stepped into Bavaria. We had a corner table with comfortable arm chairs. Quite an intimate setting. The cheese fondu compounded the Alps experience. Pricey but lovely.
The Waldhaus is a charming authentic German restaurant with a variety of delicious fondues for sharing. There were beautiful view of the mountains and golf course. Service was very good. The Wiener schnitzel was very delicious. The pork chop was tasty and tender. We were too full for dessert!
Great food and excellent service. Julie made excellent recommendations and provided excellent service to make our anniversary special. Thank you Julie. Jagger snitztel was excellent along with the salad and apple strudel. It is hard to get to the restaurant, need to use stairs from Bow Falls or the hotel. Take a flashlight for night time.
We have loved the Waldhaus for years, even having our engagement photos done on the patio 4 years ago. We just celebrated our third wedding anniversary here with Ellen as our waiter and it was outstanding as usual. Great food (my husband said his t-bone was the best steak he's ever had and he's quite the connoisseur), amazing service, and an overall fantastic time. Thank you Waldhaus. You never disappoint. And thank you Ellen! You were wonderful!
I wished I would have gone to 1888 chop house instead. However, this wasn't a bad resteraunt, I ordered the trout which was good. The service was really really slow though for the amount of people that were there. My husband and I should have been out of there a lot sooner. They do offer a shuttle back to the hotel, which is a bonus. Didn't really enjoy the torte during dessert. It was very heavy. Overall, this seems more of a tourist spot than a top notch dining experience. I would give it another try at some point.
After visits to all at the Fairmont, including some repeats, I deem Walhaus as the best kitchen by a sizable margin. Gary is among the most professional waiters we've had in Canada. Steak beats the 1888 and at a better price. All we tried was excellent in both visits.
the cheese fondue was fabulous, the meat not so much. The meat fondue was very expensive for what you got. I was kind of disappointed that even with a reservation we were given a table that had no view. Considering it was a special occasion a view would have been most welcome.
The Waldhaus is excellent with panorama views of the Banff Springs golf course, Bow Falls and Mountains. Ellen was our server and she has been there for 12 years. I work with clients with developmental disabilities and I found her to be superb with my clients so have requested her each time I've been with friends and family.
