This was the best sushi that I have ever had. I can’t wait to go back!
Amazing food for the price, given that Wako has a Michelin Star. Delectable pieces of seafood (scallops, tuna, snapper, mackerel, and amber jack come to mind, especially the seared ones) and great ambience in one of my favorite SF neighborhoods. The service was quick (a little too attentive at times but not too intrusive) and efficient.
Amazing in every way.
It was great as usual!
Amazing Omakase. The service and the food was some of the best Japanese food we’ve had outside of Japan!
birthday date. Just one candle, no big surprise
The food is interesting and the service is pretty much at the limit of what could be considered within reason. Pricey, but the experience is worth the price.
We were seated at the sushi bar and was able to watch the chief make our sushi as we enjoyed our course - the ingredients were fresh, and preparation was done meticulously (not to mention great value). The chief was also very friendly and made us feel comfortable by talking with us while still preparing the dish with great efficiency and skills. The service staff was also very friendly and courteous - definitely would re-visit in the future.
Incredible experience, staff is amazingly warm and the omakase menu is fantastic! Highly recommend
The service was amazing and the atmosphere is great but the food was terrible. We were excited for an omakase experience and knew it was expensive going in - 3 courses were inedible they were so bizarre and the nigiri sushi was great but would have been the same at a restaurant 1/3 the price. Not worth the price!
I am a frequent patron, love their fresh ingredients and the creativity on all the dishes. Service are always very professional.
Great ambiance and great food.
I been waiting to go for a while and I can say I was not disappointed. For my birthday celebration I decided to go and it was great omakase. Totally recommend!
Great meal from start to finish. The service and food are top notch. Recommend sitting at the bar if possible.
Food was great! The service is excellent and the speed of serving food is marvelous. Some of the dishes were also very innovative! The only downside is not really related to the restaurant, but the challenge of finding a parking space nearby. Overall, I really love it! Thank you!
Wako is my go-to omakase place in SF. Chef Tomoharu is friendly and open to explaining any piece of nigiri. It's also wonderful to watch him craft each piece, something possible in the small, intimate space of Wako.
The nigiri is on point, the rice is consistently good, and the overall value is one of the best for omakase in SF. I've tried various Michelin starred omakase places in SF, but this is the one I find myself consistently going back to. Would highly recommend!
Overall it was good for food but service didn't meet the michelin starred expectation. The server couldn't answer my questions on their food. I separately ordered wagyu sushi but it was overcooked.
Each course of the Omakase was decorated beautifully and tasted delicious. The Stars were the seafood imported directly from the Toyosu Market.
素晴らしいお料理の数々
すっかり堪能させていただきました。
極上のウニに白子など、なかなかお目にかかれないものばかり。。。
丁寧な気配りでこのお味、サービスも全てが完璧です。
Always superb food, the chef and his staff are very friendly and attentive. Wako is definitely on par with top class sushi places in Japan (I'm Japanese who goes back and forth between US and Japan), but better in some sense because he offers elaborate original cooked food as part of his set courses. Most high end sushi places in Japan traditionally stick to offering sushi, if they offer a set course they may offer small plates of cooked food but the amount is limited.
Very cute spot. Awesome food and simple clean decor - tucked away in a quiet neighborhood.
Fantastic experience, great food and service. Already planning a trip back.
Was very satisfied and impressed. The food quality, taste, and presentation was top notch, as was the service. Servers were never hovering but we never went more than a minute needing something. The price for the a la carte sushi and the sake felt way too high. If I went back I’d just get the omakase menu and drink water. Overall fantastic experience and memorable meal.
Friendly chef for omakase.
The best sushi I’ve ever had. No frills, simply outstanding food.
Went with a group of 4. Overall, lovely, delightful, and absolutely solid experience at this place. Well curated dishes paired well with each other. Enjoyed the service and walk through of each dish. Ambiance complimented the food and mood of my group. I recommend this place for anyone and will likely come back again.
Outstanding. One of the best dining experiences I have had. The food flavors were outstanding, the concept of umami really came out through the food. This place is a must- visit. Unpretentious ambience, spotless, quiet and very cosy.
Sushi is awesome, especially on the third flight. Recommend a full menu.
Wonderful omakase experience
Outstanding meal and service. Authentic, classy, refined but unpretentious. Bravo
This restaurant is without a doubt the best Japanese restaurant I have ever been to. The food is exquisite and the service seamless. This is a very authentic experience: for example, each sushi is a delicacy and a whole world of flavors.
Spectacular as always
A must visit. Great service, delicious food and nice ambiance.. keep in mind they only serve Omakase.
Wako welcomes you into a serene Japanese atmosphere . Just relax and savor the excellent service and superb food
This place has amazing sushi, and amazing service! Definitely sit at the sushi bar to get the best experience, and make sure to not be late or you’ll miss out!
An amazing experience, this was the best Japanese food we have ever eaten and was very memorable.
Highly recommended.
Thanks
This restaurant was a surprise experience, I have been to several sushi restaurants in the city and this one is one of the best. The food, service, experience are among the elite restaurants. They serve two menus of omakase sushi that are fairly priced, and sushi pieces are only available towards the end of it ( something to keep in mind for those individuals who like to order sushi pieces at random).
Overall this restaurant deserves to be among the best in San Francisco. The quality of food, service, and ambiance are well worth the price .
Another wonderful dining experience at Wako. Everything is carefully prepared and beautifully presented. The nigiri selection was outstanding. Can't wait to go back!
Amazing menu and service
Fantastic restaurant! The good is creative and well, just really good. Staff is great, attentive and nice. Had a wonderful time, some of the best sushi ever had, would go back. Recommend if you like good food, good people and easy ambiance.
