We were treated wonderfully! Not too much, but there when appropriate. Wonderful food, too. Always have had great experiences there.
Thank you for highlighting our current efforts given the times. We hope to see you again soon.
Because of the coronavirus, every other table was blacked out to put more space between guests. That was a nice touch considering this restaurant caters to an older crowd. Also I think this is why the place was extremely quiet. So quiet, it felt like my fiance and I had to whisper to not bother other guests. This could just be because of the strange state of things right now.
We both got the tasting menu, she did the wine pairing, I drank old fashions. I recommend getting a cab there and back if you are going to do the pairing. It was a lot of wine! My drinks were really strong too (not complaining at all). We were glad we didn't drive.
I will say for how empty the place was, the food did take a long time. We knew it was going to be a long experience, but we were there for 3 hours. I wish the food had come out a little quicker because we came hungry. I will also say, it wasn't as much food as you get when you go to a similar tasting restaurant like Travail. I definitely wasn't stuffed at the end (which is fine, but I can see how some people might expect that for $100 meal). The quality was excellent though.
Our server was really nice too. He had a good, dry sense of humor, we really enjoyed him.
Overall, great experience. If you want to go through the whole tasting experience, but not pay Travail prices, this is a really good option. We were definitely the youngest people in there (I am 35 and she is 29), but we still very much enjoyed ourselves. I think we will be back!
Thank you for the detailed review and we hope to see you sooner rather than later.
Restaurant never lets diners down. Food, atmosphere and service was all great. We will return.
We are glad you enjoyed your experience.
The omelette (Mushroom and spinach) was kind of flavorless. And I know it was Sunday brunch, but service was generally slow.
We are sorry the omelette didn't have more flavor. We do change the omelette often so please check back in the future.
W.A. Frost has fine dining down to a science. Absolutely one of the best tasting menus in town and priced reasonably.
We continue to keep the tasting menus because of diners like you. Thank You!
Our server was not very friendly. We weren’t offered bread and she did not fulfill our drink order
We are sorry to hear of your experience. What you describe is not the usual guest experience, please consider giving us another try in the future.
First time customer. Very happy overall. I tried many plates and they were all great with one exception. The small plate order of scallops was shockingly small. I did not expect a ton, but for 17 dollars, 2 scallops seemed a little small. I would have been ok with 4. Other than that i loved it. The service was great.
We take guest feedback very seriously and thank you for the information. The scallops dish has been very popular, but it does sound like your plate was smaller than normal. Please try us again in the future.
Very nice dinner! Certainly wiil be visiting again.
Great to see you enjoyed your dinner. Thank You
Really terrific food and drink selection. 10/10 would go back.
We look forward to serving you in the future.
We had a wonderful dinner at Frost's. I had requested a table by the fireplace, and we were given one in the back room right next to the roaring fire. It was perfect. Food was great and service was excellent.
Those fireplace tables are in high demand so we are glad you could get one. Thanks and hope to see you again in the future.
I would not have the char. The restaurant week menu was OK.
We are sorry you did not enjoy the current market fish preparations. This item does change often, so please try again in the future. Thank You.
Our server was attentive & astute & allowed our group to have a relaxing, no rush lunch which was very much appreciated.
Lunch can be a wonderful time to dine with us. Thank you for the comment.
We went for Restaurant Week and everything we had was very good. The patio looked like it would be nice so we will definitely come back in the summer.
Thank you for the comment and please do try the patio in the warmer weather. When we do open you can either make patio reservations for the dining side or walk in at the garden bar and lounge area in the evenings.
We love WA Frost, but the restaurant week menu was not tasty- the pork was sent back bc it was under cooked and I chose the farro instead. Flavor was bland and generally uninteresting. They usually do such a good job! We will return, but restaurant week was disappointing.
So sorry to hear about your Restaurant week experience. Please do try us again in the future.
WA Frost is a wonderful dining experience. We enjoy the sophisticated ambiance, the impeccable service, and the quality of the food. This is definitely a restaurant we continue to visit and enjoy!
Thank you for your continued support, we are very appreciative.
This space is so gorgeous and romantic. We were here to celebrate a birthday. The cheese plate was so good, and I highly recommend trying this if you go. The entrees were yummy too. I found it odd that I could get a burger and fries or a more fancy entree, but it made sure there was something for everyone. The wine and cocktail list is long, so I’ll definitely be back to check out more of the martinis! The staff was nice and efficient! They even added a birthday candle to our dessert.
Lamb chops were too gamey.
We were at the restaurant for a family celebration with a table for 10. They set us up in a small room with a fireplace, all to ourselves. It was perfect! The food was overall quite good, and all enjoyed their meals. The bread for the asparagus open-face was over-cooked and hard for folks to cut/eat. The bacon portions on the french toast were light, relatively. The service was good and mostly attentive, but not overly so.
We took our granddaughter to brunch on February 22, 2020. The three meals far exceeded expectations because they weren’t high based on negative comments about the food at W.A. Frost. Our granddaughter choose the Dutch Baby Pancake, in part because she likes pink peppercorns. She is not fond of figs but liked them with the lemon, honey and almonds. She would order it again.
My husband selected the cheese plate with three blue cheeses. He would enthusiastically order again with different cheese choices.
I had the Pupusas, which were tasty. I would definitely order again.
The food is expensive .
but the service was good and the food was artistically presented. And it was tasty.
Thank you for the detail review of some of our Brunch items. Brunch is also really nice in the summer on the patio.
As always, the ambience is unbeatable--sophisticated, warm and romantic. However, the food menu and the drinks menu have been completely overhauled, and some of my old favorites are gone. My friend and I both had the short rib sandwich, which sounded good but was disappointing. The meat was very dry and there was too much of it for the bun to hold. The salad was supposed to be "lightly dressed" with the house vinaigrette, but there was almost no detectable dressing. If you are going because you have liked it in the past, be warned that there is not much left of the old menu.
I eat at WA quite a bit, and we are even having our wedding reception there in June. Absolutely love the place. Always great food, excellent prices, and outstanding service.
My wife and I had the Chef’s Tasting menu. Everything was wonderful! I do recommend getting the wine pairing. My wife and I didn’t, because we had already ordered a drink before the meal, but when my wife ordered a glass of wine that was the pairing for one of the courses, it was $17! Totally worth it, by the way, but the menu with the wine pairings was only $35 more than the menu without. Just a little hint :)
We enjoyed the service from the welcome on. Only issue was a $2 charge for bringing our own cake. Never have had that.
Great service and food. Beautiful building.
A nice Valentines Day lunch with excellent food and friendly, attentive service. Thanks.
We loved the decor and ambiance. The food was good. Not exceptional. I expected better. Like, not ground lamb in my tagliatelle dish but rather pulled. The dressing on the endive salad was overdone. I’d do something simpler and less viscous.
Beautiful setting, great classic building. Liked the cocktails. We were disappointed that prices were same as best Minneapolis restaurants but the service did not compare and the food was good but not great compared to several other similarly priced options in the city.
