   Vspot is a real find for kosher/vegan diners. The food was delicious with ample sized servings.

   It was not at all what I expected. The service was poor. Its a small whole in a wall and sometimes you dont mind that but at least you expect good service, no attitude fromthe waiter and for them to actually have whats on the menu.

   We'd been to VSpot in the East Village and had a great meal/good experience, so when we bought a Groupon for the Gramercy location, we kinda expected the same thing. ...WRONG. Compared to the location on St. Mark's, this experience was a major disappointment. The place itself is a well-appointed hole-in-the-wall establishment, pressed up next to a comedy club. (The comedy club folks were kind enough to their own patrons to smoke in a group, to the side of their double door...directly in front of VSpot's only entrance. Like, leaning against the door frame. I had to interrupt their 'deep' conversation and walk through a charming cigarette smoke haze to get into this vegan restaurant. Awesome.) Inside, it's clean, well-lit, and rather compact, but with enough space for a sizable bar, 6(?) tables, one very uninterested bar tender/server, and some other kind of staffer (not table service). The night we went there, it had been a very hot/humid day, and at 7:15pm it was hotter inside than outside. The A/C appeared to be sorta-functioning, but it was either somewhat broken or trying to die. The menu had half a dozen items scratched out in pen, but still readable, so we knew what we *weren't* getting. (Here's a thought: If it's *never* going back on the menu, print new menus!) We were the only diners there on a Friday night--which is never good in NYC--and had trouble getting the bar tender's attention on more than one occasion. It was dead quiet other than the one staffer talking to the bar tender, and we had to ask for music to be put on. The food we actually got was fine & probably on the same level as the East Village restaurant. But if you want service/selection/overall enjoyment, keep heading south 17 blocks to their location on St. Mark's.

   The food here was delicious. We got the empanadas- one of each flavor, and they were very tasty. We also got the avocado fries which were very good. Lastly we split the burrito, which was delicious. Very good vegan food. The place was a lot more casual than we anticipated, when I was able to make a reservation, I though there would be more of a restaurant/dining room vibe. But we took a table in the back, the space is small, and the guy at the front counter waited on us. He was very nice, but it was definitely not a true dining experience. They also did not have wine.

   It was very disorganized. There were outside vendors, and it was almost as if you had to beg to see a menu to even know that food was available.
