So sorry to see this venue close, it's one our favorites. Hoping Volterra's will find a new location in Ballard real soon. Food and wine has always been very high quality, the service on this New Year's Eve was a bit harried, and had difficulty keeping up with the orders, but it was a packed house. Overall a very good experience.

We had a lovely Xmas Eve meal at Volterra, our first-ever visit to the restaurant. The server was particularly thoughtful, bringing us an unexpected dessert to share at the end of the meal. Additionally, the $18 lunch deal for two courses seemed like a terrific deal--I loved my lamb meatballs (appetizer) and 'pork jowls & mushrooms' pasta (main dish). I can easily recommend this restaurant to others with regard to weekend lunch.

We had a reservation for 9pm and when we arrived they informed us the kitchen closed at 9:30. Dinner was great and they took care of us well, just wish I had gotten a heads up when booking the reservation.

The service was excellent as were the wine choices. The antipasta plate was very unique and good. My halibut entre did not taste remotely like halibut and was very fishy smelling and tasting. I sent it back. The sever was very gracious and brought me a different entre. The other guest food was not great. The pork hard and chewy, another pasta dish was very salty. Great wine selection though. It was a bit cold sitting by the windows but it was private and we could all hear each other talk, not always the case in some restaurants.

Very good Italian fare with fairly attentive staff. Unfortunately Volterra's lease has run out, and they're looking for another space someplace in Ballard. So there will be some changes soon. I had the eggplant pouches which were delicious. Others enjoyed some gluten-free options. The salads are fresh and delicious. The night we were there, the place was packed, including one very large table that did suck up some of the servers time. Still it's a relaxing spot to reconnect with friends. Hope the new spot is as welcoming.

Celebrated a birthday. It was very quiet and relaxing. Servers were attentive and gave as a wonderful experience. I will be returning.

Extraordinary food. The appetizers, wine list, salads, oil soup (way better than it sounds), pasta, entrees, and desserts were outstanding! Everyone in our party ordered something different and all were thrilled with their meal. Our waiter was attentive, kind and thoughtful. All meals cooked perfectly.

Really disappointed with our recent experience at Volterra. We've gone many times over the years and were surprised at how slow and inattentive the service was, not to mention the mediocre food.

This was our second time eating at Volterra. The food is very good and the service was good. There was a party in the main dining room, so we ate in the bar area, which was fine. If the entree you want is on their fixed-price menu, it's a real deal!

We went here for a double birthday dinner. The food was very good and we had a lovely evening. The staff was great and overall our experience was very nice. I would recommend Volterra to anyone.

We went out on a Saturday night. We each ordered a different pasta dish. Our meals were just fabulous.

The menu wasn’t what is listed on open table and the selection was not good. Had to choose the least worst and was not good value for money. Service was good though and it was clean.

Third visit and it gets better each time! Food outstanding, wine great and friendly but not intrusive services. Will be back for a fourth visit soon!

Amazing as always! Delicious entree (herb chicken) and the best Caesar salad in town. Good choice of wine. Love the fennel salt served with dipping oil on perfectly crunchy bread. Perfect meal, great time!

Volterra never disappoints. Ingredients are local, seasonal and fresh. Service was excellent. This was my first brunch at Volterra and they offered the full menu to accommodate any desire.

Went for my birthday dinner and was comped a terramisu for the table. We love the food and the wait staff and the wonderfully tasty vineyard margaritas!

First visit to Volterra. Tried during restaurant week. Finding parking took a while, being in Balllard. Came out of a rainy, dark night into a cozy but plain restaurant. Food was outstanding--3 course meal of tomato soup, lamb shank, chocolate cake. Each course was beautifully presented and delicious. Tomato soup was like summer in a bowl--fresh tomatoes, drizzled w pesto, a few croutons on top. Lamb shank was fork tender and falling of the bone. Vegetables and polenta on the side. Will be back. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Overall outstanding.

compared with other good Italian restaurants in Seattle, Volterra is just mediocre, with lackluster service.

I've always wanted to try the restaurant because it looks so inviting when I walk by. I was joining a friend for Restaurant Week and it was one of the three places she requested. I arrived early and got a great little banquette seat, looking out at the room and the windows to Ballard Ave. We each ordered the arugula beet salad, which was very tasty. My friend and I split the lamb dish and the crab stuffed ravioli and both were delicious. We had to desserts, chocolate cake (or something like that) a la mode and some sort of lemon one. Both good. Our server, Jessie, was great. I thought I'd try a different kind of Manhattan made with hazelnut, but was leery because I don't like too sweet. I was told if I didn't like it, which I didn't (too sweet), they would make me a standard Manhattan, and that's what they did.

We stayed over two hours and they were full and had counted on our banquette seat to be part of the seating for a party of 10 scheduled for 8 p.m., so Jessie very politely apologized and asked if we would mind transferring to a two top. We said we'd be happy to and did, but she still comped both of our second cocktails, which was much appreciated. All in all, great experience. Great atmosphere, great food, great service.

I went with 3 friends and had a wonderful dinner. Dinner came with bread which was a big surprise and the wait person refilled it automatically.

We had a great "Dine Around Seattle" dinner at Volterra. The entrees were exceptional and not the standard fare of most restaurants. The desserts were also scrumptious and just the right size. Only drawback was the ridiculously expensive wine and tight seating.

Small restaurant, warm, vibrant atmosphere. Excellent crab ravioli, and the Volterra Red is a nice wine.

A great dining experience! We've always found Volterra to be consistently superb with a comfortable ambience, excellent service and a short but wonderfully varied menu. For first timers to Volterra we suggest the wild boar, which is outstanding. A well rounded wine list, cocktails created with care add to an overall great place for special family dinners, or a romantic dinner for two. Too top it off, the desert choices we've had were all scrumptious!

Disappointing. The beer was overpriced (and not that great, according to the beer experts). The food was so so. The service was poor - ordered a dessert at the beginning of the meal with the three-course set menu. Waited after our entrees were cleared. Waited. Asked someone else (our server was nowhere to be seen) for the dessert and the check. That person (not the server) brought the check, we paid, it cleared - with the promise that dessert would be there any minute. Waited about 45 minutes for the tiramisu.

Beet salad was a little bland, boar was rich but good, tiramisu was not my favorite. Our waiter (Jeff?) was amazing though and made the whole experience.
