Volterra Kirkland Ratings and Reviews
The food was generally good but didn't knock our socks off. The ambiance was generally good but if you were seated next to a window you were constantly being gawked at by people walking by. Maybe blinds or curtains in the evening would make it a little more private and less distracting. There were 2 disappointments with our meal. One, the food took forever to come out. The waiter explained that there were just too many guests in at the same time. Well, we were there at prime dinner hour so does that mean it is like that every night? The explanation didn't make sense. Second, one of our 4 meals was not good and was returned mostly uneaten, and although we didn't have to pay for it we thought that they could have offered more than just a refund of the meal. If the service hadn't been so slow, and it wasn't so late by the time the meal was deemed inedible maybe we could have ordered something else but we'd already been there too long already. How about a free coffee or dessert to make your hungry guest feel better? In the end we didn't have good feeling about their ability to handle a full meal service and how they treat a bad gust experience.
My first visit to Volterra was last Saturday night and I couldn't have been more pleased. The restaurant was comfortable, the menu was interesting, and our server (Vic) was great. And the food! Fabulous. Loved our antipasti and salad, not as keen on the entree just because I didn't like the way it was sauced, but it was still cooked perfectly and pretty delicious. I can't wait to go back.
The bread they serve is amazing! I could have just had that for dinner. Their wine list had a pretty good selection. I ordered the mushroom risotto and it didn't have a lot of flavor. I ended up using the herbs de Provence salt they serve with the bread to give my risotto flavor.
This is one of our most fav restaurants. My husband was turning 50 and wanted to go there for his birthday dinner.I had called the restaurant to give them a heads up as this was a very special occasion for our family. Not only did they not even acknowledge but didn't even offer a little dessert with a candle after. I was so disappointed and upset and wanted to remind them but my husband urged me to let it go. It's not like we couldn't afford to buy a small dessert considering we spend $200 for the evening, but the acknowledgment would have been special. I'm not going back again.
This was our first visit and we will definitely return. The food was great, wine selection was fantastic and the service was good. The tables are quite close to each other, so not the best place for a quiet romantic dinner, but good for a date night or dinner out with friends.
Came here for SRW, on back to back days, that's how impressed I was with the food. The best tiramisu I've ever had anywhere. The crab ravioli was delicious, they don't skimp on the crab. The pesto was also great. Also the best mimosas I've ever had. Not too loud and very friendly service.
I can't say enough good things about Volterra. It was our first time here, and we will definitely be back. Very good food and excellent service. Our waiter Zac was fantastic. The perfect combination of being attentive and fun but not annoying. The food was well prepared and tasty. My only complaint, and its minor, is the tables are close together. So this is not a restaurant to have an intimate conversation. This is fairly standard for modern restaurant design. Overall an excellent experience. Highly Recommended.
We visited for restaurant week on a Tuesday evening at 7 pm. The restaurant was crowded and it tends to be noisy. Our server was quick to greet us and our cocktails were perfect. We enjoyed the lentil salad and Cesar salads, the wild boar tenderloin and pasta with pesto and sundried tomatoes. We enjoyed our tiramisu desserts the next day as we were stuffed! Delicious!
We visited Volterra Kirkland for the first time during Restaurant Week and were impressed by the good value. Food was mostly delicious (lentil salad, crab ravioli, tiramisu) but my husband's lamb shank was very salty. The lack of soft surfaces to absorb noise made it hard to talk, especially with people next to us who grew increasingly noisy as they drank more.
I have eaten three meals at Volterra and each was special. Local ingredients and an imaginative menu make for difficult choices. Pastas are all great and other entrees are equally good. Salads were excellent but a little overpriced. Our waiter was well informed about food and wine. By the glass wine list was excellent and reasonably priced. Will definitely return.
