Food was great. Not the greatest location, off the main Street and under apartments or condos. Not a place for a date with a romantic atmosphere. Entry is not marked well, we walked all the way around because the entrance had no signage on it.
It’s our favorite place in Kirkland, food, & service are exceptional and wine pours are not skimpy like a lot of restaurant’s. Especially when you are paying so much for a glass. ❤️
Volterra remains one of my favorite Kirkland restaurants. Service is impeccable and the food is great.
The food was amazing, perfectly prepared, and significant portions! They have a great wine selection, better than most.
Food and service were great. Nice downtown Kirkland restaurant. We ate there before we saw a concert at the Kirkland Performance theatre.
Volterra is a wonderful place to meet friends and enjoy great food and an extensive wine list in Kirkland.
We liked the service, very friendly. The food - I would say homemade American Italian in fine dining setting. I liked shrimp bisque a lot, wild boar main was good, we didn’t like lobster risotto as its not an Italian risotto at all, heavy mix of rice with a lot of canned tomatoes and lobster chunks, reminds me some kind of jambalaya...Overall, we expected more from this place.
This was our first experience visiting.
My fiancée and I came for his 30th birthday. I made the reservation noting it was his birthday.
When we arrived, the hostess lazily handed us off to a server to seat us at our table. It was not busy so I did not appreciate the gesture. The server walked away in a hurry so we were unsure if we were to follow him or not. We sat down and he did not come back to greet us or offer drinks for about 10 minutes or so. When he finally came back I ordered a glass of wine and started to order an appetizer as he just walked away.
When he came back, we were asked if we decided. I asked if he had any recommendations and he pointed to the printed off piece of paper and said those were the specials.
As we put in our order and waited for our food, there were 3 tables around us that had a birthday and a dessert was brought out with a candle.
We received our food. It was just OK. Nothing amazing or special and not worth the prices on the menu.
My fiancée didn't really even eat the lobster risotto and we weren't asked how things were or if he enjoyed it because it wasn't eaten.
Our server came back after the assistant came to clear our plates and in a hurry asked if we wanted dessert. He brought us a menu and another 10 minutes went by before he returned. We watched him in the corner in the service station on his phone. We ordered & it came out without a candle.
That really irritated me as I had made the reservation noting it was his 30th and there were multiple tables around us that had been acknowledged with birthdays.
My fiancée then tried to pay the bill, I asked the server to not run his card because it was his birthday and that I would be paying.
The bill came and we paid and left. The service was terrible the food wasn't worth what we paid and we will not be visiting Volterra again.
Normally I would never leave a bad review or a lousy 15% tip as I have worked in the industry for 10 years. But there was no excuse on this.
Dinner with my parents at my favorite restaurant. The wagyu ribeye special with white Asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes was perfection! We splurged and shared the pound cake special with plum sauce & tiramisu. Fantastic!
Absolutely excellent in all ways! Chef Don is incredible!!!
Wonderful food and our waiter was excellent and so helpful and just the perfect food!
Amazing, as always.
Wild boar was incredible.
I've been to this restaurant quite a few times over the years and the food has always been good. So I was excited to bring my sister who's from out of town there. It must've been an off night. I ordered the lamb shank, my daughter ordered the fettuccini and sister ordered the eggplant pockets. All three dishes were bland.
Hostess was rude and rushed, server forgot about us. Good thing we found seats in bar area.
I ordered the lamb shank as it was Easter. The meat was dry and tasted a little odd but was covered in thick rich sauce. I came down with a bad case of diarreah that began a few hours later and lasted a day and a half. Will not return and recommend against. Not what I expected from such an expensive restaurant, or from any restaurant for that matter.
First time here and I have to say, this could be my favorite restaurant in Kirkland. The service was outstanding and the food was mouth wateringly delicious!! Tables are a little too close together is my only criticism of this restaurant. Absolutely fantastic!
Great food and service. Whenever we are in the vicinity, we make it a point to eat there
We had the oil soup, which is one of my favorites, polenta with wild mushrooms, so creamy and flavorful, the pasta with pork jowels and the crab ravioli. There are so many great choices on the menu, you can't go wrong.
Service and food here are always wonderful. This time, I had the pork tenderloin in a wonderfully rich sauce, rather than the also-excellent seafood stew.
Went there for Seattle restaurant week. Awesome menu, they had the best seafood stew ever.
Service is aweful- didn't know anything about the wine list, and it took 2.5 hours to get through 2 courses + dessert. The food quality to price was not equal, way overpriced for what it was. They also treated us like children, sat us in the bar where it was loud and acted like we've never eaten in a nice restaurant before. Silly waitress, I've been to 3 michelin star restaurants and have been to both Napa and Tuscany. Don't talk to me like I'm an idiot.
The wild boar was delicious! We'd return just for that dish.
We visit Kirkland once a year and Volterra is always our “go to” restaurant. The food consistently excellent and a great value!
The wild boar was outstanding. All 4 in our group really enjoyed their meals.
We had an excellent dinner. Every meal was prepared with care and showed exceptional panache on delivery to our table.
Awesome, bread kept coming to us, service was stellar and food was exceptional
We were dining on Monday April 8, 2019. We order from prefix special promotion menu. We ordered wild boar, beet salad, baked cauliflower, tiramisu cake and mascarpone desert. Everything was fresh, not heavy on salt and sugar. We really enjoyed it. The service was fast. The tables are too close, I assume due to lack of space, but it did not bother us at all. We will definitely come back to taste other dishes from menu.
Love Volterra. I always enjoy our dining experience here. We had this meal during Seattle Restaurant Week. We had read that Volterra was one of the restaurants participating where you got "the most bang for your buck." Very true. The offerings were wonderful and plentiful.
We have taken out of town guests here for a couple of years. It was one of our favorite restaurants and we always gave it maximum stars. We haven’t had occasion to go here for about 5 or six months. Maybe part of the problem was that it was the first day of Seattle Restaurant Week. The entrees our group had were excellent...they could not have been better. The meatballs have gone downhill. Our foodie couldn’t eat them. The desserts were worse. None of us could eat them...essentially tasteless. The service was very poor. The waiter kept forgetting us. He brought our appetizers and forgot our drinks. We had to get the hostess to retrieve our drinks. He served other people who came in after us before he served us. I will forgive them for trying to put us in the worst and noisiest table in the restaurant...shocked that they treated people who have been here so many times at the table just steps from the bathroom and mop room doors.
We will go back again once after SRW is over to see if they are back to their standards before we take anyone here.
Great food and service. It was a little loud and the tables were very close together and made it a little uncomfortable.
This was our first time at Volterra. The food was some of the best Italian we have eaten. The cauliflower appetizer was outstanding; great beet salad; and we loved the crab ravioli. If you want outstanding food, go here. If you want a quiet, romantic place this is not a good choice.
Always fantastic, Volterra is my go to for a great Italian meal.
Great meal and service.
Had the wild boar tenderloin and it was amazing as always.
Great place for great food and gathering with friends. If just want a drink at the bar ... they have that too.
Love this restaurant and fennel salt we purchased. Wish it had more colors. Maybe flowers on the table might be nice . But we love your restaurant
Server was good. Bathroom and bar walls were very dirty (like food splattered on the walls in the bar). Food was ok - not amazing - and overpriced for what we got ($12 salad was basically only a big plate of lettuce). Probably won’t be back or recommend this.
Too many tables packed in so I’m glad we had an early reservation while the restaurant was quiet.
The bread for the table was sliced by all the servers and I saw only one of those putting on a glove before handling the loaf. Lots of dirty hands on that loaf!
Food and service were excellent. Noise level was to high for me and the tables were too close to each other.
