Food was absolutely amazing. For the quality (creativity, taste, etc) we felt that it was a good value. I would gladly return.
Everything from the food to the service was fantastic. We had a girls’ night to celebrate a birthday, and it was a great time for everyone. I have been determined to like beets, and if I had tried them at Volt the first time, I wouldn’t have had to try so hard!
Loved this experience!!! We were celebrating my husband’s birthday. The host, service and cooks all wished him a happy birthday! We did the chefs table with wine pairing. The food was fantastic and service was outstanding. We enjoyed speaking with Bryan and his sous chefs. I can’t thank them enough for this experience. We will be back!!
We truly enjoyed celebrating my husband's birthday at the Volt. He is a self described foodie whose goals include dinning at every fine restaurant within driving distance from home. This was our first visit to Volt. Each course was beautifully plated and delicious. The wine selection was varied and large. Hopefully we will return in a few months. The 45 minute drive was worth it.
Everything was incredible from the moment you walk in to the moment you leave. The staff was exceptional, the food was perfection! The chefs table is worth every penny! Very accommodating with allergies as well!
At a friend's recommendation, we went to Volt to celebrate a birthday. Wow, what a wonderful decision! We started with drinks: one well-balanced cocktail and a unique and very tasty beer, respectively. After viewing the menu, we chose to go a la carte, although the chef's tasting menu looked amazing. Our first and second courses were outstanding: surprising and delicious dishes that paired both everyday ingredients, like carrot, and exotic ones, like specialty mushrooms, with spices from various cultural cuisines. The desserts, including one on the house in honor of the birthday celebrant, were very good. But it was the main dishes that won our hearts. The service was impeccable from start to finish, and the attention to dietary restrictions was greatly appreciated. We will be going back to Volt, despite the 45-minute drive, as soon as we can find another reason to celebrate. Tuesdays deserve celebration, yes?
The stand-outs for us were the fresh food quality, interesting and excellent combination of flavors, beautiful presentation and a wait staff that was just right: attentive and friendly rather than hovering and stuffy. This was not a meal that we could have prepared at home which made it a very enjoyable and worth every penny.
Did the 15 course Chefs Counter menu. You might think that in 15 different plates you might find something that wasn’t exactly your taste, but every dish was fantastic. The wine pairing was spot on for each dish. At the end of the night when the chefs were asking which course was my favorite I honestly couldn’t answer because the entire experience was consistently great. The service was also excellent. All around the dining experience was stellar.
Wonderfully creative food preparation with beautiful plating. Delicious and healthy. Volt is an elegant restaurant with excellent service. It is a good place to go for a special occasion or if you want to try a place that excels in creating interesting ingredient combinations. The only negative was a heavy hand with the salt in two of my three dishes.
Absolutely fantastic! It was an wedding anniversary and I went for the whole enchilada, the Chef's Counter. We watched as our 16 perfect courses were made and the hardest part was not eating too fast. All was so good and there was seemingly always another on the way. Paired wine was worth the cost. Speaking of cost, as the saying goes, 'if you have to ask, you can't afford it'. But if 'found' money comes to you, the way as it did to me and you love great food, you can do no better than to enjoy it here.
Had an excellent brunch - smoked salmon appetizers were very tasty and entrees were good also. I am glad that items are included on the brunch menu now for a supplemental charge - got to where we missed having something more than eggs or granola as options. Understand the economics of it all, but now good to have the option available. Service, as always, was spot on.
Always outstanding service and experience
Food was delicious! As a non-meat eater (pescatarian) there were a number of good choices. There were a lot of egg options, but better than no meatless options at all. I had the cod which was excellent, but also an upcharge of $6. A bit of a turnoff, really.
Overall, the food and service were absolutely excellent!
We enjoyed the tasting menu for Easter Brunch. The food was exquisitely displayed and the combinations of textures and flavors was amazing. To go over the top a wine pairing was offered with each course and truly complimented and enhanced each! Fabulous!!!
The food and the service were excellent. It was a very nice family occasion.
Overall experience was great. Only comment is that we were seated at a table facing a Market St. window and the afternoon sun was blinding. Would suggest a pull-down shade for temporary protection at this time of the afternoon.
Overall, a very nice experience. We did the tasting menu, which provided a nice variety and chance to try a few things we might not have otherwise ordered. The salmon was phenomenal and the dessert was excellent. I thought the oats had an odd texture and the pork belly was just ok. Would highly recommend.
The service was excellent, as was the atmosphere. I found the food to be average. I ordered the foie gras, which is one of my favorite dishes. Theirs was frozen and shaved with granola, it was terrible. I swapped it for the yellowfin tuna dish, which was much better.
The food was very good, but the portions were very very small.
We took advantage of a snow storm special for a belated birthday dinner well worth braving the elements for. I love the anticipation of seeing how the simple ingredients listed on the menu are translated on the plate and the tongue. We were never disappointed. From the amuse bouche to the take home chocolate chip cookie, we enjoyed every bite.
The tuna appetizer and chocolate strawberry dessert were amazing. The beet salad very nice but the cheese needed more substance. The cod entree grew on me but still a little bland. There was too much cabbage and the apple was all wrong. The cheese platter for dessert was wonderful but too rich and heavy - that would have been a remarkable appetizer. Service was too intrusive. Everyone was very pleasant though except the hostess seemed perturbed that I wouldn't go wait in the lounge. There was 1 seat sandwiched between 2 other parties at the bar and I didn't want a drink yet so why take up the space. She didn't even offer to take my coat.
I took my wife here for her birthday. The progression of courses and their composition in the chef's tasting menus was so thoughtful, I would call it intellectual; if it possessed the power of speech, that meal might have had several quite interesting things to say about, for example, music theory or federal budget priorities. Each of the (approximately) ten courses was presented with such pomp and finesse that they would have been absolutely presumptuous, if they had not each been some of the best tasting food I have ever eaten.
You should eat at this restaurant. And if you do, you might see my wife and I, for we shall surely be back!
Ours was a birthday celebration (84th). We experienced gracious service together with creative menu choices exquisitely presented. Food preparation is nothing short of outstanding.
Incredible! Could not have asked for a better meal or better service! The surprise take home gift was so unexpected, but it was SO delicious 😉Thank you!
Went for restaurant week so I am not sure how much that affected our meal. I thought the meal was solid, but nothing spectacular. Nothing I had left me saying I want to come back.
OMG... We had such a wonderful time eating at Volt as usual. The food was incredible. Every mouthful of each course was phenomenal. The service was impeccable . It is obvious how important it is for Volt that their customers walk away thoroughly content and happy after experiencing such a superb dining experience. I can never stop raving about how wonderful it is to dine at Volt.
My last visit about two years ago was a disappointment (over salted) but this visit was very so much better. Loved the roasted garlic soup.
Have been before but wanted to introduce my son and his fiance . We had to do restaurant week which was good but limited choices. Everyone enjoyed it and we will make another trip up there in the future.
Our overall experience at Volt was amazing. From the atmosphere to the staff and the mouth watering food.
A nice surprise for restaurant week meal. Really well done and price was right..
Brunch w gal pals
The food was wonderful and perfectly prepared. We sat in the chefs kitchen so the it was a tad noisy and very bright. Also the tables were very close together and you could hear the conversations of the other tables.
My husband and I went to VOLT for the very first time last Friday during Frederick Restaurant Week and we LOVED it! They are a high end dining experience with the best customer service from the minute you walk into the door. I highly recommend this restaurant for date nights/special occasions!
I have been to this restaurant few times for set dinner, this time was for the Frederick Restaurant Week special dinner menu, the pork loin on the main course was disappointed, it was too dry and not much season.
Admittedly I had very high expectations based on all of the media reviews and personal recommendations. Unfortunately, however, I was disappointed. Even with Restaurant Week pricing I can not endorse the value point. Small portions, high prices. It wasn't that the food wasn't good, there just wasn't enough of it. Although the service people were very attentive, at times it felt like they were hovering and intrusive. Don't think I'll be back.
Landing a reservation at Volt during Restaurant Week was a coup! The staff are so professional and attentive !
Consistently exceptional service with absolutely wonderful food adds up to a world class experience! With new dishes added to the menu frequently, there's always something for everyone at a variety of price points. Nice beverage program, too with a great bar scene and wine list.
I started with the Hamachi with a subtle blending of perfect flavors. For main courses, I had the rib eye steak and my wife had the rockfish - delicious!
Excellent restaurant in every sense. Food is exceptional and service is top-drawer.
Very nice restaurant. Visited during Frederick Restaurant week. Food was ok, nothing super special. Smaller plates made with a lot of decoration. The prices are more expensive than most comparable restaurants. It was a great experience, but probably won't return.
