I took my wife here for her birthday. The progression of courses and their composition in the chef's tasting menus was so thoughtful, I would call it intellectual; if it possessed the power of speech, that meal might have had several quite interesting things to say about, for example, music theory or federal budget priorities. Each of the (approximately) ten courses was presented with such pomp and finesse that they would have been absolutely presumptuous, if they had not each been some of the best tasting food I have ever eaten.
You should eat at this restaurant. And if you do, you might see my wife and I, for we shall surely be back!
Ours was a birthday celebration (84th). We experienced gracious service together with creative menu choices exquisitely presented. Food preparation is nothing short of outstanding.
Incredible! Could not have asked for a better meal or better service! The surprise take home gift was so unexpected, but it was SO delicious 😉Thank you!
Went for restaurant week so I am not sure how much that affected our meal. I thought the meal was solid, but nothing spectacular. Nothing I had left me saying I want to come back.
My last visit about two years ago was a disappointment (over salted) but this visit was very so much better. Loved the roasted garlic soup.
Have been before but wanted to introduce my son and his fiance . We had to do restaurant week which was good but limited choices. Everyone enjoyed it and we will make another trip up there in the future.
Our overall experience at Volt was amazing. From the atmosphere to the staff and the mouth watering food.
A nice surprise for restaurant week meal. Really well done and price was right..
The food was wonderful and perfectly prepared. We sat in the chefs kitchen so the it was a tad noisy and very bright. Also the tables were very close together and you could hear the conversations of the other tables.
My husband and I went to VOLT for the very first time last Friday during Frederick Restaurant Week and we LOVED it! They are a high end dining experience with the best customer service from the minute you walk into the door. I highly recommend this restaurant for date nights/special occasions!
I have been to this restaurant few times for set dinner, this time was for the Frederick Restaurant Week special dinner menu, the pork loin on the main course was disappointed, it was too dry and not much season.
Admittedly I had very high expectations based on all of the media reviews and personal recommendations. Unfortunately, however, I was disappointed. Even with Restaurant Week pricing I can not endorse the value point. Small portions, high prices. It wasn't that the food wasn't good, there just wasn't enough of it. Although the service people were very attentive, at times it felt like they were hovering and intrusive. Don't think I'll be back.
Landing a reservation at Volt during Restaurant Week was a coup! The staff are so professional and attentive !
Consistently exceptional service with absolutely wonderful food adds up to a world class experience! With new dishes added to the menu frequently, there's always something for everyone at a variety of price points. Nice beverage program, too with a great bar scene and wine list.
I started with the Hamachi with a subtle blending of perfect flavors. For main courses, I had the rib eye steak and my wife had the rockfish - delicious!
Excellent restaurant in every sense. Food is exceptional and service is top-drawer.
Very nice restaurant. Visited during Frederick Restaurant week. Food was ok, nothing super special. Smaller plates made with a lot of decoration. The prices are more expensive than most comparable restaurants. It was a great experience, but probably won't return.
My GF and I took advantage of Frederick Restaurant week to experience Volt. And during RW the menu was prix-fix which made our experience more affordable. Great food, great service and wonderful atmosphere. All in all a very enjoyable experience at Volt.
An enjoyable evening. it is restaurant week in Frederick and sometimes stresses restaurant but the service and atmosphere were unaffected.
Delicious food with excellent service! A wonderful place for a special date night
Volt is absolutely delectable! It was a wonderful experience from the moment we walked in to the moment we walked out. The food was amazing and the service outstanding. If it were possible, I'd eat here once a week.
We hadn't been here for awhile, preferring other high-end restaurants in the area. This evening's meal was elegant in every way, from the appetizers, onion soup, salad, an octopus prepared in a sous vide bag and (I think) deep fried, rockfish entre and a desert forced on us by the waitress, all to her credit. The chardonay was reasonable and complemented the food.
This was our second visit. We had dined few years ago in your restaurant and we did not have a good experience. However, we wanted to give a second chance and tried again. Unfortunately we left the restaurant with same feeling (except desert). It is unlikely that we will try again.
Volt is an upscale scene with an edgy splash to it. The food was delicious and the service was exceptional. Definitely a good spot for a romantic, professional or any special occasion.
Stunning offering for Frederick restaurant week. Fantastic overall experience. Impeccable service. Unexpected value for a restaurant week menu.
The food and service were outstanding. We went during restaurant week in Frederick, and had a wonderful time!
Service? Over the top.
Ambiance? Wonderful to be able to have a conversation over dinner without raising ones voice.
You’ve heard of Volt. You know it’s supposed to be good. Very good. Prepare to remember your meal and even the service for weeks afterward. Yes. It’s that good.
This was our first experience at VOLT, but it won't be our last. Service was outstanding, as was the food. Courses were well presented and very creative. Some might think the portions are too small, but we both thought they were just right. This is the place to go for special occasions.
I was very excited for our first trip to VOLT. I had received a gift card from my best man for my wedding. Our party of 3 all had the tasting menu. I found it overpriced and gimmicky. I'm fine with creativity but when you focus on technique, it's even more critical that the food taste amazing. Out of the ten or so courses, five were not even memorable. Four were good/adequate and one was great (panna cotta). The killer was the brassica salad. A broccoli stalk with no florets? Really? We made the trip from Baltimore and I wished we had stayed home and gone to one of many restaurants that outdo VOLT.
Food and service were amazing. The wine director is awesome and sassy. Bill was normal for what your getting. Top notch and great expeirence. Little cold but I never said anything so I can't fault them.
The bathroom door slides! Fyi :)
Excellent Dining experience! Great food & wine! Excellent service!
Below is my favourite fine dining
Volt is still our “go to” Frederick option for fine dining. Volt constantly delivers outstanding and creative meals, in my option better than any other restaurant in Frederick.
Food is art for this place...rather than to fill you. It fills your eyes instead of your appetite. We won't be back. Not only too far of a drive for the value, but we really did not like the food. Presentation was the name of the game. Really disappointed and do not understand what the draw is for people. So what Brian Voltaggio was a Top Chef winner. Feed us! Don't gauge our wallets. The minimalist decor was cold and uninviting. Service was almost over done and not personable with too many people coming over and delivering stuff. Never asked us how things were. Just a weird unappetizing experience. Plus, the choc chip cookies they gave us at the end in a bag were dry. Sorry, not a fan at all.
Lick the plate delicious! Fine dining at it's best.
Pretentious, over-hyped, and generally just trying too hard. Food doesn't have to be this complicated to be good. My wife and I have eaten at restaurants ranging from dives in New Orleans and Baltimore to the most expensive restaurants in Las Vegas, New York, Paris, and Rome, and Volt doesn't crack the top 100 places we'd recommend. If you're in Frederick, you'll have better food at The Tasting Room or Wine Kitchen, more fun at Firestone's, and cooler ambiance at The Cellar Door. Skip it, it's not worth the money.
Delicious, except my beef was actually difficult to cut. Both my husband and I must have gotten a piece with a tendon or gristle, it was really tough. Otherwise everything was perfect! I loved it!!
This was a great meal. VOLT is on-par with some of the finer establishments in DC, NY, or Los Angeles. The food was spectacular, service was unsurpassed, and even the bathrooms were clean. The Bar is fabulous and had an excellent collection of beers and wines at decent prices.
Amazing!! First time there and drove over an hour. Well worth it! The service and cuisine are out of this world. They made you feel like you are the only ones there. We have dined in Niagara on the lake, Stratford Ontario and charleston,.sc numerous times at fine dining restaurants, but nothing ever like this! VOLT is a hidden gem and amazing find!! Can't wait to go back and.do thef 15 course tasting menu!! Thank you all for an amazing evening and amazing dining ecperience!!
