VOLT offers guests a menu of modern American cuisine. “The focus of our cuisine is based on classic flavor combinations, creating sophisticated dishes that emphasize purity and seasonal flavors that are based on fundamental and innovative cooking techniques.” said Voltaggio. VOLT’s relationship with local artisan farmers ensures availability of products to fulfill the philosophy behind the menu, in a refined, historic venue where classic meets modern. By design, the restaurant follows along the original footprint of the mansions first floor parlors. Both the 38 seat main dining room and the bar/lounge open off the foyer. The original mosaic tile in the foyer was the inspiration behind the warm monochromatic color pallet that adorns the finishes in VOLT. Private dining can be hosted in the conservatory offering views of the expansive courtyard. The 700 square foot kitchen afforded space to include up to 20 guests.

Salmon in the salad was perfect. Chocolate mousse was excellent. Pistachio ice cream was lovely. The shaved veggies in the salad were difficult for me to chew. The endive was crisp but it wasn't easy to mix it with veggies. The muffin and brioche were delish but the butter was too salty for me as I only use unsalted butter.

No one refilled my water glass. No one checked on me during the meal. I had to ask twice for sugar for coffee.

Beautiful rooms but fewer abstract works would have played better for effective contrast.

Absolutely the most overpriced over rated lousiest meal I’ve ever had. There are many very good restaurants in Frederick. Try them do not go to this place. All hype just not a good restaurant. We were a table of 4 and everyone said the same thing

My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary at Volt. We enjoyed our four course meal. The wait staff and hostesses were friendly. The wait staff was knowledgeable and did a fine presentation of each course.

I / we have been to Volt on other occasions and would have rated 4+ to 5. However, this time left me feeling disappointed. Sorry. I hope it is not a trend, just an off night.

Love Love Love this place! Always a great experience! This time, tried the Chef's Tasting Menu, and it was mind blowing! Everything was delicious! Got to try some new items that I wouldn't have even thought of.
I absolutely love their foie gras beet macaroons, nothing like it - although this time it wasn't as fresh and didn't melt in the mouth as expected. The madeline w/caviar was quite the delicacy, along with the smoked salmon spread. The roasted red pepper sauced cheese raviolis was to die for! All the proteins were cooked perfectly medium rare. The salmon entree had the perfect crisp of skin cover. I will admit I did not like the cured yogurt that accompanied the duck. That taste was very discerning. The complimentary birthday dessert served as a light and perfect end to the best birthday dinner ever! And to top it off the service was expedient and wonderful!

Volt is the best restaurant I have been to in Frederick.
The chef’s table menu at $125 is expensive but better than $150 menus in DC.

Chose the tasting menu. Salmon was bland but well paired. Dessert made the meal worth the while. Service was excellent as usual but the quality of food is not at the level of excellence it used to be.

We have been to Volt before and enjoyed it, but this trip was even a little bit better. The food is enormously imaginative and precisely executed. Although it is a bit pricey, it is worth every penny.

Having to write this review seriously pains me. I have been looking forward to dining here since the Voltaggio brothers were on Top Chef. My fiance and I visited ink. in LA and were blown away by the food, so I couldn't wait to try the food at VOLT. To start, the service is great! The servers are attentive, knowledgeable and great at their jobs. We decided not to go with the tasting menu, as some of the dishes we wanted to try weren't offered on it. The beet macaron and foie gras dishes we started with were to die for! Beautiful, creative and seriously tasty. My fiance doesn't even like beets and he loved the beet macaron. Unfortunately from here, the food went downhill. Our pasta dishes were average, being almost too al dente (I've been all over Italy and know what al dente should taste like). The lamb bolognese was under-seasoned and one note with no depth of flavor, with the lamb being a little dry. Octopus by itself was good, but the accompaniments did nothing for it. We got the NY Strip and pork tenderloin entrees. The NY Strip wasn't seared enough, so it was tough to cut since it was cooked rare, but overall a decent dish. I unfortunately had to send my pork back. It was dry and the flavors did not do it for me. Desserts were beautiful, but were lukewarm and the flavors didn't quite meld together. I had such high expectations for VOLT and I was so disappointed in the overall flavors of the food. The concepts were all creative and the dishes were beautifully plated, but many just didn't come together in a cohesive way. It was like taste took a backseat to presentation here. It seems getting the tasting menu might be the way to go, but I'm disappointed there is such a discrepancy in the a la carte and the tasting menu. At a place of this caliber and for the prices, no matter what you order, it should be impeccable. With a heavy heart, I have to say I would not recommend this restaurant and we will not be returning.

We had a very good experience at Volt. The service was impeccable and the overall ambiance of the restaurant was one of reserved elegance. Highs include the interesting and delicious cocktails, the bean salad, and the goat cheese ravioli. Lows were the New York strip (the meat was tough - I was expecting better) and the Cod (the fish was cooked perfectly but the sea bean base had way too much ham in it). The foie gras was an interesting take (it’s like a tasty butter) but not the traditional dish, if that’s what you’re expecting. We will definitely be back!!

Volt is a special place. We are experienced diners and take special note of freshness of ingredients, the creativity, appearance and skillfulness of the cooking, the professionalism of the service and the overall feel of the place. Volt is flawless, without equal in the DC area and worth the hour drive each way.
Value? $200 for two of seemed fair for what we ate and drank plus gratuity.

From the pristine tablecloth and napkin settings to the waitstaff, our experience was amazing. Six of us enjoyed our dinners from cocktails to wine through dessert. And a cookie each to take home! Would recommend Volt for any special occasion or just to pamper yourself. I had the salmon and I don’t think I’d had one as tasty and perfectly cooked in a long time. The chef has some fun tricks up his white coat sleeve, which made the evening even more special. Recommended!

We ate at the chef’s table for our 36th anniversary. As always it’s an amazing experience. We also did the wine pairing. It was perfectly matched with the food.

I loved my dinner at Volt. Not only was the dinner delicious but the entire experience was excellent. The wait staff was friendly, professional and knowledgeable. I called ahead to let the chef know I was vegan and when we arrived they were very prepared for what I could order on the menu and everything was so good. I highly recommend Volt!

We had the 10 course meal at Volt. The service was the best we ever had anywhere, and the food was top notch! We would highly recommend Volt for future anniversaries, birthdays, special occasions, or if you are just looking to treat yourself to the ultimate dining experience! The staff were very friendly and personable, but allowed enough space for conversation and that intimate feel. Great job, Volt!!!

We celebrated our 26th wedding anniversary at Volt and enjoyed their Rose’ dinner menu...it was incredible! Would highly recommend! We were thrilled to get to see Bryan Voltaggio in his element, having been fans since his days on Top Chef.

Everything was absolutely delicious. The lettuce salad was gorgeous and fresh. Foie gras was unctuous. Spaghetti with ramps and lamb gnochetti were excellent pasta dishes. Monkfish was superb as was the pork tenderloin. Worth every penny.

I am so sad to say that we went to Volt for my husbands birthday and it was horrible! We got there at 5:45 and had a wonderful waiter, but after an hour still no food. We finally got our appetizers after an hour. It then took another hour for our dinner to be brought to us, but we had to pack it up so that we could get home in time for the babysitter. The waiter gave us cookies and chocolate and took off 2 glasses of wine but we didn’t even get to eat dinner two hours later and still paid $230, a manager never came to our table, so sad we will never be back again.

We've been to Volt a couple times and the food, as billed, is sublime. What takes the Volt experience to the next level, though, is the attentiveness, friendliness and the good humor of the staff. In what at times must be a very stressful work environment, your staff, front and back of the house, epitomizes grace under pressure. Very well done.

The time in between courses were a little bit too long especially for an 8:00pm dinner with a kid in the party. We were the last to leave in the left dining room.

Please train your staff to avoid judging people who might or might not be generous tippers. Your guests can usually tell. This might be the reason why the service we received were not as warm as the tables around us. You might have done this many times over but this is our first and could be our last visit. Our experience at Voltaggio Brothers was much better.

Our experience at Volt was superb! Hats off to the Chef and the dining staff for such great attention to detail. The meal was one of a kind and inspiring. The service is 5 star. we didn’t take photos because we respect the craft and the ambience. We look forward to returning for another great experience!
