We have been for brunch a few times, anniversary dinner and group dinner in the private dining room. Each time this place ha amazed with the quality of service, DELICIOUSNESS of food and overall ease with which they make comfortable a family meal with little kids around or fancy night out with my love. Could not be happier living so close to such a great spot!
Volt gave us an experience to remember on our 10th wedding anniversary. The food was outstanding, but the wine pairing really stood out. Every pairing was perfect. Never had a better pairing before.
I took my mother here for a Mother's Day lunch, and she said it was the best meal she's ever had! The service was prompt, and we were seated right away and greeted by a waitress who took our drink order as soon as we sat. We were served by multiple waiters and given a detailed description of the dishes we ordered, including questions about dietary restrictions, which was incredibly considerate (neither of us have any, but it was the first time I was ever asked about it!) Our meals arrived really quickly and were excellent! The presentation was done with care and had small but satisfying portions. The cost is high, sure, but it's well-worth the price for such a quality meal. I can't wait to come back to VOLT the next time I'm in the area!
This is a tough review to write. I have been to Volt several times over the years and loved it. However, this time was disappointing and it’s really about the value. While the service was good, it wasn’t outstanding (twice they placed the wrong dish in front of me—not a big deal but something that shouldn’t happen at a restaurant of this caliber.) But mainly it was the portion sizes—a $20 pasta contained about 4 bites and there was almost no lamb in the lamb ragout. For $50+ per person for brunch, it honestly felt like a rip-off. We have been there for brunch previously and the portions were far larger and the service much better. I’m not sure what’s going on but we won’t be back.
A special restaurant for a special meal, that is Volt. The service is attentive, courteous and professional. The diners aren’t rushed. The atmosphere reminded me of my many years in Europe ie, the expectation is you are there for a leisurely evening of fine dining and visiting with your companions. There is no feeling of the establishment is trying to “turn tables.” The food is beyond the usual adjectives (delicious, amazing etc) The food is the higher art of cooking and dining. Lovingly conceived and crafted from fresh seasonal ingredients, and quite a variety from which to choose. I had the fois gras appetizer, spaghetti with ramp pesto, pork belly and egg yolk (my favorite of the courses), monkfish and strawberry cremeux for desert. It was my birthday and I was brought a bonus dessert with a candle on it! Pineapple ice cream. I had a sangria which I sipped all evening but couldn’t finish, it was delicious but too potent for me. At the end of the meal the staff brought some large chocolate chip cookies, and homemade candies and peti fours but I was too full so took them home. Special experience. Oh.......complimentary parking in a lot next to and behind the building, definitely a plus. The price is high, but it is a case of “getting what you pay for”. Recommended for a special occasion.
The staff at Volt always makes us feel special. Cocktail we all good (our group of 5 each tried a different one...all were well balanced and tasty). We did the tasting menu with wine pairings. This was a great option for us as we had spent the last few weeks embroiled in strategic planning countless decisions for work. Letting someone else make choices for us so that we had to do was sit back and enjoy...that was heaven. The 10 courses of the menu were all delicious (least favorite: scallop crudo...most favorite beet/foie gras macaron amuse bouche, duck, and beef ). It was a truly memorable dinner.
Service was fantastic!! Sadly, this was the best part of the evening. I had high expectations for Volt- and sadly will not likely be returning (well, not for the food).
- mole and verde sauce with pork very good
- very well made drinks at the bar
- stale starter breadsticks (tasted as out of an old tin)
- tasteless frozen cheese over beet appetizer- watered down taste
- pork entré- barely warm and center actually mushy
- very small servings for price (which prob wouldn’t be an issue if the food was more flavorful)
- My dining colleagues were less than impressed with their food as well: mushroom entré
Great dining experience with out of town guests. Would highly recommend it to others in the near future.
The only thing I was disappointed about was the size of my monkfish. It was miniscule, but.tasted delicious. Everything else was pretty perfect. Service was wonderful. Really enjoyed ourselves. They gave us lots of goodies to enjoy. Did not do any testing menus.
We celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary at Volt and the staff never missed a beat! Frank and Katelyn were fantastic. The food was so creative and beyond delicious!
Made reservations for our anniversary dinner and wasn’t disappointed. Everything was delicious. My husband and I ordered one item each from each course on the menu and could barely eat it all - next time might just get either a first or second but not both. Staff was very personable and knowledgeable.
Perfect for a quiet exquisite lunch with friends.
I was a bit underwhelmed by Volt. We went there last week for a weekend lunch. The salmon toast was incredible, but the omelette was a bit underwhelming. The strawberry rhubarb desert was solid. I'm glad I went but probably will search for other options next time I go to Frederick.
I have been meaning to get to Volt for sometime. I would say service was good, but not exceptional (not really noting anything wrong, just not exceptional), and food was interesting, but again not exceptional. Having done chef's multi-course dinners at other places, i found the flavors more intense than what was offered. Again, not anything bad, but didn't overly impress me at $125 a person. We were also in the front room which as incredibly stuffy. It was in low 60s outside and probably high 70s at our table, little uncomfortable!
Excellent service, great ravioli appetizer, good duck bolognese, tasty and creative dessert of egg in nest, and very good coffee. Must say I thought the prices were a bit inflated for the very small portion sizes, but still a very enjoyable lunch. Also had a delicious cocktail.
Volt is exceptional. Excellent dining experience; the meal was inventive and delicious, the service was stellar (very attentive to allergens) and the sommelier TJ Whitman is gifted, generous with his knowledge and fun. Wonderful experience, and a new habit for every visit to the area!
A perfect Easter meal!! Outstanding as usual. Never disappointed at Volt. Perfect service and outstanding food.
We sat on the patio for the first time - perfect. The only problem is that the drink prices are off the cuff. We'd come more often for brunch if you could get a bloody mary, glass of wine, or mimosa as part of it. :-)
Exceptionally nice Easter brunch. Food and service were outstanding. We always enjoy trying the fresh, seasonal dishes available at Volt. Looking forward to returning during a different season!
Some new dishes that were just wonderful, like the smoked salmon, with reliable standards like the omelet & the ravioli and incredible desserts! As always service was beyond reproach and sets the standard for other fine dining restaurants!
Some of the best food I have had in ages. Went for Easter brunch and will def go back on a slower shift as the holiday crowd had the noise level higher than I like. Only fault I really see as a diner is the number of tables in a relatively small space.
Honestly, I expected more for brunch. The French toast was tough, the crab cakes were over cooked, the lobster appetizer was just meh, my duck Raghu was warm at best, the duck was a little too crispy and the pasta was tough.
One of the desserts was fabulous, the egg. The other dessert was nothing special, the chocolate was good, but there wasn’t much to it.
I’ve dined at the chefs table before and it was an amazing experience, I just felt that everything today was mailed in. Also there was supposed to be an Easter egg hunt for the kiddos, but that was never mentioned..
Volt is one of the best restaurants I've eaten in in a long time. The food was as gorgeous as it was delicious, and the service was outstanding. Also, prices not bad. Can't wait to come again and hope that the duck bolognese is an entree when I do.
We were greeted in a warm & professional manner. Our server was pleasant and very knowledgeable about the wine and food selections. Our dinner was delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening!
What a wonderful way to spend an afternoon, great wine and lovely food. We hadn’t dined outdoors at volt, but we’re pleased with the experience. The food is amazing as always and the service impresses. Cheer
I’ve been to this restaurant several times and most times really enjoyed the experience. It was a beautiful night and we sat outside on the patio. People were allowed to smoke in the courtyard and we had to endure cigarette smoke while trying to eat. Smoking should not be permitted there, it really put a damper on the evening. Service was also unusually slow. The food was good but for the cost I expect better.
Third time visiting this wonderful place. We usually wait for special occasions. As usual, it was
a great experience with excellent food, service and ambiance. A little far for us to travel, but
well worth the trip.....
This was the first time we had eaten here. We had heard reviews about how expensive it was, but after the experience - I can see why. Even though we only had two courses, which was plenty, he were able to see the levels of service offered. The food was fantastic but matched by the level of service from host to waiter to servers, etc. Very much attention to detail!
Brunch was great and the service was very friendly and attentive! Loved the chocolate chip cookie to go!
Loved the Chef’s table! This was our second time coming for my husband’s birthday. It was a great experience and the food was amazing!
Wine list rank. 10/10
Food five dishes rank 9, 9, 5, 3, 0
Very well managed and excellent staff but food was very disappointing after all we had heard.
This is a special restaurant with food that you will not get anywhere else. From the "green" salad with fresh spring vegetables to the perfectly cooked monkfish and the egg in a nest dessert - it was perfection. Then there are the extras like freshly baked bread and biscuits and the small tasting of truffles, jellies, macarons, and salted caramels. And then there is the homemade chocolate chip cookie to take home. The service is outstanding from the moment you enter until you leave. All members of the staff are there to help you. It was especially rewarding to be able to watch Chef Bryan Voltaggio in action the night that we visited.
Wonderful restaurant- plan to go back again!! Super food. Great experience.
This was one of the most amazing dining experiences of my life. Every course, every bite was an adventure in taste. We had an amazing waiter who made an incredible recommendations, and we had told the restaurant when we made our reservations that it was for our 30th wedding anniversary, and I could not of asked for a better venue to celebrate with my husband. We were given complimentary appetizers and complementary desserts. I loved every morsel of my dinner. Thank you VOLT for a fabulous dining adventure!
The foods are amazing especially combined with the outstanding service
We had a lovely brunch with excellent food and very attentive service. We will definitely be going back. The food is inventive without being too over the top. We especially liked the beet salad and the chocolate mousse.
The presentation of the food is innovative, and usually delish. I'm not a fan of walnuts, but there was a walnut brittle that was oh so yummy.
We had been looking forward to dining at Volt for several years and made a weekend trip from DC to celebrate our anniversary. We were very underwhelmed with the experience - our table for two was for four in the brightly light kitchen area with no windows and we were sat side by side facing the kitchen, which was awkward (we weren’t close enough to see any of the action, so it just felt really weird). The food was pretty good, although there were some misses (like a bland carrot dish). A disappointing experience compared to our high expectations for a special occasion meal.
From the bread sticks on the table to the dessert, the food was outstanding!
The green salad with frozen coconut was beyond expectations. The octopus was absolutely delicious. The main course of monk fish with compressed pear was delightful. A combination I never would have thought of, but they were excellent together. The desserts were just grateful, and we even got a cookie to take home. The staff were polite, friendly, professional and attentive.
5 stars across the board!
