An amazing dining experience! The chef’s tasting menu is superb, very creative, well thought of and perfectly balanced.
Fantastic and well worth the drive from DC! Innovative appetizers, most particularly a carrot and coconut appetizer that was like an explosion of freshness in your mouth, as well as a delicious lobster congee. For the main courses, the homemade pastas were delicious, particularly the one with duck. The service was impeccable, and they send you on your way with wrapped cookies. All in all a delight!
I loved the wonderful service immediate....
My appetizer was lovely and yummy...a bit over priced...
My octopus ..which I was so excited to have was a bit bland with its ingredients...not up to a higher rating..which I could...
Breads amazing ..butter way toooo salty.
Everything was superb.
The food at Volt is the best thing you will ever taste. The only trouble is that you can't order everything you want because you can't eat it all in one sitting!
Our first of many future visits.
The food was bland and cold. Some combinations of ingredients did not taste good at all. I wondered if the chef had actually tasted the food vs. trying for a visual effect. Portions were small for the price - and we ordered from the a la carte menu, not the tasting.
Service was overall good, but a bit too much, and one waitress was a bit rude and abrupt when asked a question.
We will not recommend, nor will we be back.
Great attentive service. Wine was excellent, food was well presented and delicious.
Our Saturday brunch at Volt was outstanding. Some of the best food and service we have ever had. Will definately be going back to Volt!!
Excellent! Really enjoyed our dining experience! Would definitely recommend!
This place was severely overrated. We had very high expectations and were severely disappointed the moment we step foot in the entryway. The hostess was off putting and not chipper. They sat us in the back near kitchen with not a soul around and zero view. The server came over and asked if we had been here before at which point we said no. She literally said, "the right side is a 10-course meal, the left side is a la carte, let me know when you are ready," then walked away. We asked to be moved to front and were placed at a table with a fabulous view. We were then greeted by another apathetic, somewhat snobby server. The menus were tattered and the walls were all scraped up. I asked to keep the drink menu and was told I couldn't because there were not enough for other guests. After ordering our drink, we made the decision that it was time to leave and go to a restaurant where our business was wanted. I do not recommend this establishment.
Really artistic display of food. Great tastes also.
We went for our wedding anniversary midweek. The staff there combines ease and professionalism. The dishes we had were small but perfectly executed. A number of extras presented by the chef at no charge. A ravioli appetizer was truly delicious and memorable. A simple lettuce salad the same. Lavender ice cream dessert with strawberry mousse was a perfect conclusion. The cod main course was interesting; the salmon less so. Reasonable prices for wines by the glass despite a high-end menu.
The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. Love the environment. Can be a little pricey especially for the amount of food that you get.
Extraordinary experience all around!! The food was sensual, delicious, artistic, plentiful, and best we’ve ever had. The service was exceptional and kind.
We have been coming here for 11 years and the meal tonight was absolutely the best we have had here and they always have been good. The corn soup was delicious, the duck bolognese was always top notch, the filet was seasoned and cooked perfectly and super tender. Best filet I’ve had. Pork chop was also beautifully cooked.
First time. My wife and my 46 wedding anniversary Sunday evening. Great time and experience
Pricy but you’re getting top notch food, interesting dishes, flavors, and textures, with great service. I was pleased that the wait staff were all very friendly and relaxed. Sometimes places like this get stuffy but not our staff. One server joked with us, another interacted because of the infant we had with us and actually showed us pictures of his young son. It all added up to a memorable dining experience.
I don’t know everyone’s names who served us but Stan was one and the hostess Onella was so friendly, welcoming, and kind.
Service and food was very enjoyable. We will return for special occasions.
Prices are outrageous. Portions were small. Tried to fill us up on bread. Not worth the money.
Bright happy atmosphere that makes fine dinning accessible! The staff was so warm and welcoming, joking and helpful- with recommendations not just limited to the menu. While the chef's tasting menu is a wonderful value and gave a great selection the best part of the meal was the ravioli. I would return for that alone! Also, be sure to ask the knowledgeable staff for a drink recommendation.
Food is very good. Great experience. Expensive. Would recommend it for a special occasion.
Great place to eat new dishes in a quiet venue. Serving staff was very attentive and knowledgeable about the food.
It is a bit expensive but you do get value for your money. We go once or twice a year for special occasions.
If I could give another star for service I would. It was impeccable. The food was delicious and beautifully prepared.
Nice experience. Had the tasting menu. Was about any 8 out of 10.
First time there . Food was way too expensive for the small portions and menu very limited. Won’t be back.
We sat outside (our request) as it was a lovely day. The food was really great. The service was exceptional. The restaurant is gorgeous. The patio could use a little TLC. We still enjoyed the meal and service - but it just seems like a missed opportunity.
First time at VOLT and not disappointed. Although we did not have a lot of time because we had to leave for a play in Shepherdstown, we enjoyed an amazing carrot appetizer (ridiculously good) and each got a "second course" pasta for our entrees. The portions were smallish, because as the waiter explained they are intended to be "add-ons." But they were delicious and really the perfect amount. Two lovely bottles of wine later we agreed we would return for the tasting menu soon when we could spend more time.
A definite special occasion restaurant. Food is very creative, almost like food art. Texture and taste very inventive. Expensive, but definitely worth the experience and if you like to eat "foodie" you won't be disappointed.
Food was excellent. Wine and pours were very good. Service was attentive and friendly, but pacing was too fast (first course served before pre-dinner drinks were served, no pause between courses). Beautiful old building, but interior was all new and a little austere. Would have been nice to keep more of the historical flavor. Overall a great dining experience.
Honestly, I can't think of anything realistic that would have made this dinner better. Beautiful restaurant, upscale service, gorgeous plating and really fine food. We sat near the kitchen and watched as thing were happening with little spoken communication.
The 15 course menu at the Chef table has good value but you better be hungry. The setting of the table could be better and the chefs are so busy that they don't care to even say hi to you so what is the point to have a chef table if we have no interaction with the chefs. Given a high cost meal, the service is only OK. You just don't feel very welcome. Our server when asked a question said "he doesn't even work here" Not sure if that is a joke that I cannot appreciate. I would recommend to go for a normal table and choose a lesser pre-fix menu.
We came for brunch at 12:30 on Sunday 7/21 and by 1pm. we were the only table in the restaurant. It was a little creepy to sit in an empty restaurant for Sunday brunch. Aside from the weird atmosphere, we were disappointed to find that they discontinued the pre-fixe brunch, which was best thing about Sunday Brunch. We have been coming for the last 7 years bringing out of town guests for a Volt experience. The food and staff were good, but it was just such a disappointing experience overall.
We came to Volt for our 10th anniversary and could not have been more pleased. The service was absolutely excellent, great ambiance, and meticulously prepared food. We will definitely be back.
This was for my wife’s 50th birthday. We both loved the food and service and highly recommend it for pretty much any occasion.
We went for a special occasion and the food and service were exceptional........they did not disappoint!!!
Christine was a great server. Outstanding experience all around.
The wait staff was memorable in particular. There were I believe three different people coming to our table and each person was very professional and friendly. They couldn't have been more perfect!
The room we were seated was nicely decorated and cozy (even if the Art Work was a little mod for our tastes).
Our meals were wonderfully presented and so delicious and even though the portions were on the small side for our hardly appetites, we left completely satisfied.
I come from a family of good cooks, so I am on the discriminating side. And because my brother-in-law, George Batlas, is MARYLAND CHEF OF THE YEAR, I find myself being especially aware of all the elements of a restaurant experience.
Thank you for a wonderful dining experience and we look for to coming back soon!
