Excellent on all counts - waitstaff couldn’t have been more perfect, and the food - exquisite!!!!!!!
We had the Chefs Tasting Menu with beverage pairings. Best. Meal. Ever.
We were greeted warmly when we arrived and our table was ready. The servers were helpful and attentive. The food was excellent, visually interesting, and well prepared. Our starters were the beets and the shrimp and grits--so good. We can also recommend the waffles and the goat cheese ravioli. We weren't rushed and had an enjoyable time. Looking forward to our next visit.
Disappointed. Looked forward to the reservation after hearing wonderful things. Appeared server forgot about our party of 2, waited 15 minutes after receiving cocktail menu and then having to flag him down. Kindly bought drink for the wait. Fois gras was delish but standard. Fish dish was good but barely warm. Lamb dish cooked well but had a lot of fat and little taste with fava bean puree as side.
Very odd experience; a tiny spider lowered onto table as it might in a car. Gross but no big deal, no food around. Second and much larger random spider crawled across table while waiting for dessert.
Wouldn't make the drive back from Arlington for Volt unfortunately.
Volt was amazing and everyone should go there. Food was great and service was incredible.
This is a restaurant for a date or dinner with a significant other. Even then, the service is pretentious and the food pedestrian.
Plan on a VERY long experience. I had never been there before. I had a reservation for 5:45, got sat almost right away, didn’t get out until 8:40. We had to ask for our check since we were all wanting to get out. I was there for a birthday and had other plans. If you want an entire evening this may be your place. I want to eat good food get out and get my evening going. Two girls there had a personality everyone else seemed uptight. It really slow service. By the end we were so tired of being there and just wanted to get up and get our evening on. Food was decent, rockfish and tuna were great.
Great way to celebrate my husband's birthday! They did a special cake for him. Great food and drinks!
All servers were amazingly knowledgeable with each dish. The service experience was perfection as was my meal. I order the chef’s tasting.... each bite was fabulous.
Definitely will return and enjoy my perfectly
Staff was great and the food was fantastic! They were out of a bottle of wine that we asked for, so they gave us a bottle that was $10 more for the price of the one we asked for. Highly recommend!
Fabulous dinner and LOVED the “for the road” chocolate chip cookie!!
Absolutely amazing food!
Four of us ordered various courses from the a la carte menu and tasted each others choices. The main course choice was limited so if you are a picky eater you should check the online menu for an idea of what you might like. All our choices were good, presented beautifully, and just enough to enjoy. We each had three courses which was a filling dinner along with the special chef's additions and the bread choices. Desserts were interesting and plated beautifully. We enjoyed the little extras like a savory treat to begin the meal, candies at the end, and especially delicious chocolate chip cookie to take home! I recommend this restaurant for special occasions because the prices can add up to an expensive meal.
Food was excellent as well as the service. Very knowledgable and waited on every need. We had the chefs tasting menu and everything was fantastic. Our dinner lasted a lot longer than we expected put that was only positive.
Met a long time friend for brunch and ordered the tasting menu, allowing plenty of time to catch up while trying new flavor combinations. Every course was outstanding, with highest marks to the goat cheese ravioli with honey bacon sauce, the halibut with Romesco and lemon curd, and the decadent chocolate basil pudding with coconut ice cream and chocolate bacon rosemary crumbles. The food was extraordinary and the service was friendly and ultra capable. I look forward to our next visit.
Well presented and tasty food, very attentive service, a quiet venue, and all at reasonable prices. Well worth a try.
I met a friend there to celebrate her birthday, as we do for each other for the last few years. As always before, the service was superb and the food was delicious. I love the creative combinations and presentation. Of course, I'll be back!
My girlfriend and I did the chefs counter 15 course meal. It was amazing!! The servers pay close attention to you and some of the chefs will interact with you ( makes it a little more personal) the food was delicious I tried things I never have before and never thought I would
Fantastic food, ambience and vibe. Excellent for any special occasion. Will be back!
The chefs tasting menu was well worth it, everything was amazing!
Interesting place but the staff is way too robotic and impersonal. Bordering on bizarre. Also very slow service - almost 3 hours to eat! Chef is obviously extremely talented though - food creative & great (but very tiny portions...). Good cocktails. Overall experience was disappointing.
First experience at Fredericks “premier” restaurant...We were not seated in the main dining room which was off putting. We sat is a lunch style room where the kitchen was and the lights were bright. No less than 5 people spoke to us and waited on us through out the evening. Tasting Room and even Wine Kitchen are better experiences. A shame because the food was very good. Atmosphere, service and ambiance are not 5 star. Do not recommend if if you’re expecting a first class experience.
Lovely experience for 'foodies'
We had the tasting menu and it was outstanding. The service, the food, drinks, and atmosphere were all wonderful. Would go back again.
The staff was great, super level of services plus lots of surprises like a cookie to go, candies, and much more. Each dish was beautiful presented and well cooked. This is now our Annersary tradition.
Food was great and service is impeccable. Favorite “fancy” special occasion restaurant in Frederick.
Awesome 10 course dinner!!!!
Great food. The tasting menu was wonderful, though a couple of dishes were too heavy on the salt.
Went for my 58th birthday and had a relaxing and delicious time. Don’t overload on their delicious bread so you can better enjoy the delicate flavors of the tasting menu
My favorite place to dine in Fredrick Exceptional cuisine delicately done Knowledgeable wait staff and the Somlier was exceptional
Another amazing dinner. TJ was top notch. Can’t wait for our next visit.
We enjoy Volt on special occasions or with groups of friends. Our experience last week was fine, but not at the usual standard. The tasting menu had 10 courses that was 3-4 too many for us, so we had a four course a al carte meal. The food was excellent as always. The golden rice entree and seafood mains were exceptional.
The experience was moderated by the poor quality service. Our waiter showed little interest in our experience. He answered questions with a note of disdain. The service was quite slow relative to usual.
We will try again and hope for a better performance as Volt has been a real favorite for the past few years.
Overall very good experience
This is a foodies' restaurant. We travel from Brooklyn at least once a year to visit it. This time was exceptional as the tasting menu was just too much for my wife. When we told the waitstaff, they packed up everything in the last few courses exquisitely and we took it home for the next night. A wonderful service experience.
VOLT was amazing. The service was top-notch and the food was delicious. We had the 3-course + the tasting course and while the food portions are on the smaller side, all in all, the flavors were very satisfying and we were happily impressed with the quality and taste. The foie gras was very good, the octopus was superb, the lamb loins were just right. The chocolate, the extra sweets (macarons, etc.) and the to-go cookie was over the top. We had a great time. The place is highly recommendable.
Loved it. Was blown away. Was not expecting food to be as forward thinking as it was.
It was my friend’s birthday and she and I were treated exceptionally.
Service was impeccable from start to finish. Food, however, was less than stellar. Octopus was a bit fishy and too salty. Rockfish with Red Curry did not have much curry flavor and other ingredients didn't complement the dish. Dessert was a strawberry concoction that had too many things going on. Individually each item wasn't bad ... just too many different textures and strawberry related items. I think I just had the unfortunate luck to pick three items from the many options that just did not work that night. My mother opted for the chicken, which was nondescript, but on the positive side, was juicy from start to finish ... difficult to find a chicken breast where that is the case.
Super-duper-fantastic!! Great food, terrific service, and love the setting in old house. (only slight “knock”: the trumpet mushroom dish was good but bit monotone— needed some side or additional flavor combo). We’ll be back for sure!!!!
