Everything was perfect. Amazing cocktails using great local spirits, phenomenal food that you really can't get anywhere else and the service was top notch. For the quality of food, the price is fantastic and you can expect to pay this at a mediocre restaurant in DC or Baltimore.

While we enjoyed our experience, it is a unique experience. We chose the tasting menu on a Sunday. It's a one-of-a-kind experience, not to sound cliche. Off that particular tasting menu, I would recommend a smaller portion of the raw scallops. You have to like and appreciate sushi. Since it isn't our preference, it seems a waste to have uneaten delicacy left. Also, I would recommend at maximum 2 servers instead of the 4-5. It made the experience a bit disjointed. I appreciate the culinary selections but one element remaining will always be the relational experience of server-to-customer-to-server. Feeling like your server can relate to you while dining means the customer will not only return for another experience, but the customer will bring others (or recommend). (Lastly, our glasses in which the sparkling water was served in had an odor. I highly recommend the sniff test before placing the glass on the table.) If we try VOLT again, we'll try the brunch selections -- but we decided to go "all out" with the tasting menu. Thank you!
Brunch. Main dishes were underwhelming, possibly because nothing came out hot. Desserts were good but we wouldn’t have ordered them if they weren’t part of the 3 course menu.
Volt has never failed to impress me in both the food (flavor and presentation) and the Service. There seems to be a silent but effective communication among all the staff whose only intent is to make the guest happy!
I had family in from out of town. They were totally blown away! Excellent dinner, amazing experience.

My first time at Volt was a few years ago and I was blown away. We sat in the kitchen area and found the entire experience to be magical. Just returned for New Years Eve and the $175pp Chefs tasting menu and did not find the experience to be the same. Yes! the greeters, bartenders and service staff were top shelf, 100% on their game. They were friendly, professional, remarkably polite and above all on point with every service detail. The 10 course menu designed by Chef Voltaggio scored from OK to Love it. (Never mind that the bread selection included biscuits that had me asking for more, so damn good.) Its hard to blow someone away over ten courses and unfortunately, that was the case. The Macaron, Madeline, Egg Yolk Confit and Cod did not shine for me. However, the Gnocchi and Duck were stars! There was one constant, the temps was off. The hots, not hot and the cold, not cold. Maybe that is the result of us being in the first seating? I don't know but I am sure that everything was room temp (ok, the crudo was cooler but not cold). Do I have any regrets? No way, as is many times the case, the people provide the experience. In this case, they were wonderful. Did I feel the value in what turned out to be a $560 inclusive bill for two? Nope, I did not. That said, go to Volt and enjoy the experience. Yours could be different. (maybe order a la carte?)
Fantastic from start to finish. The food was fabulous the service stupendous and the atmosphere awesome.
This is my very favorite restaurant not just in Frederick MD but all over the US!!! My son, his girlfriend and I dined here and she had never been (we’ve been here 3 times in the last 2 months!) We started with the beet and yes frozen goat cheese salad, tuna tartare, octopus cooked to perfection, ravioli, broccoli sunflower Rissoto, then monkfish entrees and the Rockfish in sauces that would be impossible to duplicate, which is the fun of dining out btw, breads that melt in your mouth, creative cocktails and superb wines, then over the top desserts and more to take home!! Superb!!!!
Went for the chef's table tasting menu. Very innovative impressive looking food, Some of the tastes were very good, with even the under sauces and bases interesting. Seated in a horseshoe around the prep area overlooking the kitchen, which was not noisy. Very attentive service. Explained the items and wines well, plus provided a printed menu after the meal listing all the ingredients. 15 mini courses, so not overwhelming. Two courses per wine pairing. $150 for food $75 for wines each. We (2) were seated on the quiet end and could talk fine. Because of the curved seating, not that good for conservation between two couples. Able to get seating in less than a week for our desired 5:30 Friday between Xmas and New Years. Only 4 of 8. Late seating 6 of 8, so don't be frightened off from trying for a seating. Compared to the tasting menu at Tersiguel's, more courses, more innovative and modern (Tersiguel's is French), although not necessarily better than Tersiguel's also excellent food. Tersiguel's has more conventional restaurant table seating. Volt seemed to have a smaller multi-course menu at a more conventional table behind our seating. A special occasion that was special -- very food focused.
Had been looking forward to going to VOLT for a long time, and we were definitely not disappointed. My wife and I went for a date night around my birthday. We got the 3-course weeknight special, with an addition of the tasting course as well. All dishes were creative, beautifully plated, and absolutely delicious. Would recommend it to any foodies, or couples looking for a special date night. Looking forward to going back and trying another exciting option on the menu.
The food at VOLT was absolutely incredible! I honestly have to say the Monk fish was the best I have ever tasted. Our host/waiter was very friendly and accommodating. When news of our engagement was mentioned, the staff did a little extra for us which made us feel very special. The authentic food preparation was delicious and will be remembered. Definitely recommend VOLT for a memorable dining experience.

It was phenomenal! Reminded me of the tasting menu at Inn at Little Washington, but at a fraction of the price. 10 courses if pure perfection! Techniques like cryogenic cooking... and sour cream reduced to dust, tendon turned into the lightest "cracklin" I've tasted. Savory macarons with foie gras that literally dissolve on your toungue. It was exceptional!
Volt never disappoints. Hard to decide which is better...the food or the service...both are superior. From the moment you walk in the gorgeous Victorian building, you feel at home. So many menu options from a la carte dishes that constantly change to a four or ten course meal. Each dish is meticulously prepared and presented to the table. And the three/four course dinner option Tuesday thru Thursday may be the best value on the East Coast.

Sensational in every sense of the word, upscale but not snooty. So enjoyable from beginning to end, service and food were both above and beyond. Definitely will be back!!
My wife and I drove 2 hours to celebrate our anniversary here and it was well worth the drive. The wait staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. They were not pretentious at all, even though the food was elevated. We especially loved the tuna tartare and the octopus. The desserts were amazing as well. We found a new spot for special occasions.

From the first moment we walked through the door ... we were treated like guest in someone’s home . The service was exceptional! The food was a wonderful blend of familiar and unique at the same time !!! I highly recommend spending an evening here Volt !
We enjoyed a delightful birthday celebration complete with complimentary dessert including candle. We chose the three course option and were not disappointed. The appetizer looked too pretty to eat, but eat it we did! The entree was a luscious lamb shank with grits and vegetables. Attentive & friendly service from everyone we encountered.
The menu is getting tired — same template applied over and over — time for a major refresh and innovation in the menu !
This was not my first trip to Volt, nor will it be my last. The chefs' clever creations continue to be sublime, achieving textures and flavors that few would be able to capture in their own kitchens. Like roasted carrots with carrot top chimichurri and coconut cream. Like yuzu sorbet with eucalyptus meringue wafers and aerated frozen coconut crème. And proteins that are cooked to perfection, with just the right amount of crisp and tenderness. The cocktails are excellent, the service is top notch, and the atmosphere is modern elegance. Sure, the prices make it a specialty stop for most. But when you are willing to splurge, it truly does not get better than this. Highly recommended.

This was our second meal at Volt, but it’s been a number of years. We were very happy to see that the quality and service is consistent. We had an awesome table in the Chef’s Kitchen area (we made our reservation through Open Table that day and got lucky)! It was great to be able to see how well the staff worked together. Our service was great as well. The team structure having multiple people serve throughout the meal was nice and they all did a great job explaining the dishes.
We decided to go with the Chef’s tasting menu and it was fantastic (come hungry - it is a lot of small portions). The timing of the dishes coming out was very good. I’d recommend trying this if you can!
The biggest bonus was the Chef Voltaggio was working in the kitchen while we were there...Top Chef fans would love it!

We love dining at Volt, and particularly the week-end brunch prix fixe menu (a deal for the price). It’s nice to be spoiled by food you don’t cook at home (beet truffle w/ foie gras, for instance) ... and to taste sauces decorating your plate in bright yellows and saturated greens. The vegetables really shine here — I never thought I would save my bok choy or onion until the last bite. Treat yourself and go!
Outstanding food - the tasting menu did not disappoint! Two courses were adjusted for my non-meat eating daughter....the mushroom main course substitution was out of this world! A wonderful place for a celebration.....we went 5 years ago and again this past Friday and the food and service was every bit as wonderful as our first visit.
We took a client and absolutely loved the atmosphere, the unique food combinations and presentation. It was well worth the price. The portions were also much larger than we expected. AND, it was well lit and we could SEE our food!

We have been wanting to try Volt for several years, and finally got the opportunity this past weekend. The brunch was fabulous in every way. The food was creative and delicious, the ambiance was warm and welcoming, and the service was outstanding! We will put Vilt on our repeat list for sure.
We had a fantastic time celebrating my wife's birthday. Volt is the best treasure we have in Frederick, and we speak of it highly to our friends and relatives around the country.
We had not been there for a year and a half when we came in for dinner the other night. In our past several experiences, the service was superior. The waitstaff was high quality, friendly, and professional. This past time, however, there was a notable change in both appearance and quality of the staff (the front desk and bar staff aside). I only mention this since the service is a big part of the experience as a whole, and it seemed to be more casual this time.
We weren't sure who our actual waiter ever was since this person did not identify himself. At one point, we assumed the mature Asian gentleman (not to be demeaning in any way, just trying to identify him) was our waiter, but even he came and went along with a handful of others.
In addition, a few folks who came to the table frankly didn't have that professional Volt look or demeanor that we had been seeing over the last several years.
One of the bussers interacted with us quite a bit and was super friendly. However, he lingered too long and would start conversations with us that seemed awkward and intrusive.
Having said all of this, we love Volt. Bryan Voltaggio is an amazing chef.

The entire evening was perfect. The staff was gracious and friendly, the food was amazing and the ambiance was five star. It was worth every penny. We had the ten course tasting menu and splurged on the wine pairings as well. Highly recommended!
When I first made the reservation I was weary of the pricetag that opentable listed for Volt. While it *can* get pricey, there is also a $45 3 course tasting menu that is quite reasonable. I ate across the street a few days earlier and paid quite a bit more for a mediocre meal. I would highly recommend Volt over any other restaurant in downtown Frederick.
