Volario's was the perfect spot to celebrate my husband's birthday! From our server Dave and his personable attention to the delicious lasagna, pappardelle, and rigatoni our night was wonderful! Thank you
Fabulous restaurant with very engaging server. All of his recommendations were awesome. Everything was delicious!! Definitely get the lasagna.
Volario's used to be a surprisingly authentic and good find in a mountain town full of burgers and pizza. It had fresh, considered ingredients, skillfully cooked dishes, good cocktails and wine, and professional servers who knew what they were doing. The space is relaxing and elegant and a very pleasant place to spend time.
Unfortunately, the food has gone so downhill as to be unrecognizable. The portions are still preciously small, but unskillfully cooked and flavorless. My beet salad tasted like baby puree, and my mushroom pasta was swimming in oil without any seasoning. My husband and son didn't even finish their small-portioned dishes because all skillful cooking is gone, replaced with flavoring by fat (without success.) A big disappointment that used to be a hidden gem.
I have to assume that the management and chef or both have changed hands.
We’ve dined at Volarios numerous times because there are so few nice options in Winter Park. The first question you should ask is, “what are you out of?” Invariably, they are out of something and it’s usually what you want to order. Our waitress was out of it; forgot to tell us what was 86’d, forgot the wine, forgot the ice tea, forgot the lemon, never replenished the tea and we had to flag her down for everything. We stopped going for awhile and decided to give it another shot. It will be awhile before we go back.
Volarios can be hit and miss. I have had great properly cooked pasta and I have had over cooked pasta. I would say it’s worth a try. If possible try to sit in the bar area if they have a bartender and waiter working, better environment than the dining room.
Family dinner on vacation
The spaghetti and meatball were wonderful. Husband had the lamb gnocchi and loved it.
Service good - nice ambience, food good. were accommodating with kids. Overall very good experience just not a wow experience.
Great food and service
We were in the winter park area for 9 days and this was by far the best restaurant we found. Highly recommend the homemade pastas and lasagne. Ambiance is also charming and service is good
Outstanding authentic Itailan. Great dessert s as well
Great dinner! Food and wine were terrific and everyone really enjoyed themselves
It's time for dinner! This restaurant's kitchen turns out truly fine dishes at a reasonable price. We were surprised to find such high quality in the mountains. Homemade pasta, veal meatball appetizer! Everything was fresh from the open kitchen, and well executed (unlike many restaurants in the area).
Service was friendly and knowledgeable; waiter made good recommendations on wine and meal choices.
Atmosphere pleasant and lighting subdued. Dining room windows face snowy open space like you're in a country home. Tables are comfortably spaced. Seems like it hasn't been fully discovered. (Also, the $16 fresh pizzas were perfect, just too large for our teenagers to finish.)
Excellent food, great service.
New waitress, forgot menu items that were ordered. Bill was a mess & charged credit card incorrectly
We have been to the restaurant several times. This time the food was lacking flavor. The mushroom pasta had no flavor and the spicy rigatoni was not spicy. I wish they took the flavor up a notch
It was our first visit, and we had a wonderful time. Every entree was fantastic. We will be back!
The food very mediocre and way overpriced, very small servings. All 6 people were disappointed and won’t come back . The worst food in town for the greatest price.
Cozy atmosphere, great service and delicious food- a real asset for the Winter Park dining scene.
Brought my mother in law here while she was visiting as a fine dining treat. Most of the food was quite delicious. We started with meatballs served with polenta which was liked by all. Then mussels which was our favorite dish. We ordered the chicken piccata, bistecca, short ribs for entrees and rigatoni to share. Shortly after finishing our apps and receiving bread we were informed the kitchen was out of short rib. I was disappointed but decided to try the gnocchi with lamb instead. Gnocchi came out minutes later and several minutes before the rest of the entrees. I thought it was highly suspect how quickly the gnocchi was prepared and that it came out before the dishes we ordered half an hour earlier. The gnocchi was terrible. The lamb was shredded but was tender and the sauce was bland as white bread. The gnocchi itself was overly large and terribly over cooked. The texture was soft and mushy reminding me of mashed potatoes left out over night. The lady that brought out the entrees apologized immediately and said it would be taken off our check. Perfect response. The chicken piccata tasted fine but was a little boring. The bistecca had great flavor but was undercooked to my mother in laws request. She did not complain though and still enjoyed her steak. I settled for the rigatoni which was delicious. When our server came back to check how the entrees were we replied everything has been good but the gnocchi. She apologized but came back from the kitchen moments later to educate us on gnocchi. Informing us it’s supposed to be large and soft and it’s not like store bought gnocchi as if it were my first time having a gnocchi dish. I’ve had gnocchi many places and this was by far the worst iteration I’ve ever had. If the dish is intended to be flavorless and mushy then it’s a bad recipe. However, we enjoyed our experience overall and will return but won’t be ordering gnocchi.
Dave, our server, was borderline rude. I know some of it was because he busy but he assured us it was an ordinary night . The menu was much smaller than our previous visit and that was disappointing as well.
Three out of four times I have been here they run have out food. Not dining late either. Manager needs to figure this out. Feel sorry for serving staff as they are constantly apologizing for this issue or slow kitchen work. Potential but needs better management
Unexpectedly cozy mountain dining
I'm done with Volario's. I've been dining there several times a year since they opened their doors. I continued to dine there in hopes they would work out the kinks. The food used to be delicious albeit expensive. The service has always been poor and slow. This latest time the food was marginal and although the food and wine came out in a reasonable amount of time, our waiter never cracked a smile and was barely courteous. The gentleman serving bread, water etc. was very nice. I have given my feedback personally to a number of managers, there always seems to be a new one, becasue I really wanted to this to be a go to place for dining. I'm sorry to resign myself to the fact they are not going to change.
We celebrated Valentines Day with dinner at Volario’s. I fed and watered the livestock early so we could make the 35 mile trip and keep our 7:30 PM reservations. We had no trouble parking in front of the Inn and presented at the greeting area in the bar at 7:30. Our initial impression was not good. The greeter asked us to wait in the bar. Most of the tables were covered with dirty dishes. No one cleaned the tables while we waited. Thirty minutes later, the greeter came back and led us down the hall to the dining area. Everything changed once we were seated. A very knowledgeable and personable waitress soon took our orders. The menu was not the winter menu listed online. My wife had the soup of the day, a delicious bean soup, followed by a meal-sized salad, and a side of crispy brussel sprouts, accompanied by the Momo New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. I had the other soup of the day, a hearty cheesy potato soup followed by a dinner salad and pasta Primi Piatti of Parpedelle that was just perfect! I was also quite happy with the Argentinian Malbec. The waitress recognized our orders were mismatched and we followed her suggestions for sequenced serving times. The hot food was served hot and the whole dining experience made this Valentine’s Day a very, very Special Occassion. An Italian blue berry “pudding” for desert made a perfect ending to a very romantic dinner for two. Of course, our bill ensures we’ll have to wait until next Valentines Day to try this again.
Food was very good. The pasta was a touch too al dente and in my linguine and clam I got a few bites of grit/shell. Overall though a nice evening, good service and relaxed atmosphere.
Great everyday dining. Simple food. Not for foodies.
Bar tender was also our waiter and he hustled to provide outstanding service.
So good! Finally found great wine!!!!!! Highly recommend this spot!!!!! No bar food type place! Classy and delicious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very disappointed with the whole experience. Although I understand that service in resort towns can be less than stellar, the server had virtually no knowledge about the menu, the wine or how a meal should be paced. The food was well below average, and far below the quality I would expect from this ownership group. After we left, a member of our party discovered that she had left her purse at the restaurant. We called five or six times, and no one answered. When we finally got through, no one could help. She returned to the restaurant, to find the staff standing around chatting. She was able to retrieve her purse, so at least that was something positive about the evening.
just disappointing service this time - somewhat uninformed waitress who was overwhelmed with crowd and tables and waited an hour for the special of the evening and a bowl of mussles that were bland and we would not order again. manager comped us desert which was nice
Whenever we are in Winter Park and want something other than pizza or a sandwich, Volario's is where we go. (Although they do have several excellent pizzas on the menu). Volario's is more of a white tablecloth, fine dining experience than other spots in town, although every time we have been there, there has been at least one or two families with children. The food is excellent and the service is, too. The food is creative and well-prepared, service is attentive and the ambience is relaxed.
Another great meal as we have come to expect! A real surprise here in the mountains!
Food was very good, service was perfect, just enough attentiveness, but not too much. They were even willing to split a dish for two adults, and they even split it in the kitchen for us!
I had a wonderful time. Took my family and friends and we all enjoyed it
Steak was undercooked and tough. This was the chef's special, and it did not speak well for this chef.
My glass of wine had the dregs from the bottle, which gave me a really unpleasant surprise as I was finishing my glass. Ugh! Whoever trains the wine pourer did a really bad job. Even a newbie wine pourer in a lousy restaurant should know not to do this!
The food is very good and the atmosphere is quite pleasant. We have never had a bad meal at this restaurant.
Place has good atmosphere but food was so so. It wasn't bad just not as good as other places in town.
Overall great experience. The wait staff is friendly and attentive. The pasta is delicious as they make their own. The portions are on the smaller side if you order something other than pasta. And if you order something other than pasta it is expensive. I think they do pasta really well.
Very expensive for so-so food. Meal for 4 with 2 drinks ran over $200. The prime rib special was average and over priced. Soup of the day was good.
