Vogue Bistro Ratings and Reviews
First visit...a little hard to find. Outside seating was unexpected, but fine. Nice heaters, but not too hot. Waiter (Jason) was pleasant and well informed about selections. Will probably return to try some other menu items. The creme brulee was good, but didn't think it lived up to the menu description.
I like Vogue Bistro and my husband and I have been there several times for special occasions.
We invited some friend to celebrate their birthdays and they knew the restaurant och menu very well. We ordered duck for main course and was disappointed when they only offered breasts--not legs as it was described in the menu. The dish tasted good but not the flavor I had experienced the previous month. But the main reason I did not enjoy the evening was the SERVICE, which felt very RUSHED. This was a Tuesday evening. The previous visit was a Friday evening and I felt a little disappointed in the service at that time too, but I thought it was due to a busy Friday evening. I felt that the waiter did not have time to listen or took the time to answer questions about the menu and the wine list.
This restaurant's kitchen has struggled since it has changed owners. I have not visited for some time as it was disappointing last time. I thought I should give it a try again but I found not much has changed in the kitchen except they are quicker now.
The menu has changed somewhat removing some nice dishes my wife and I enjoyed. Many of the items remaining have suffered from execution. The 'crispy duck' is crispy but dry and tough and the 'coq au vin' was too overcooked and dry. It is hard to find a restaurant that doesn't overcook their chicken and fish. A pity for a restaurant in this price range.
On the bright side, the scallops dish was good and seasoned nicely. I would have this again. Their 'lasagna' is a little different and always good. I can't remark on their 'special' each week which I have only tried once in all my times there. Their staff is excellent, friendly and attentive at just the right level.
Truly marvelous restaurant on the Westside of town. Food and service was spot on. We had the pleasure of Laura`s service for the two of us. Thursday was uncharacteristically busy and there were just one other server besides Laura. Despite that, service was impeccable. We split the Sea Bass which was cooked to perfection. Cocktails mixed perfectly. Great evening all told.
Vogue Bistro is one of my favorite restaurants but tonight, I was very disappointed. My filet was very salty and we ordered the lobster tail special, but it tasted fishy and we had to request drawn butter which we were told would take a few minutes. Two others in our group ordered steaks that were served with French fries!! An expensive steak deserves more than French fries! We all ordered desserts which were all very good but the waiter said the coffee was brewing and would be ready soon. Unfortunately, the coffee we were served wasn’t even warm! We had to request hot coffee. Not sure we will be returning after paying $138 for our disappointing meals!
Vogue Bistro is our "go to" date night spot. A glass of wine followed by a table on the outside patio by the fireplace. As always we had a great meal. Jason, our server, was attentive and helpful. Started with raw oysters followed by salad and the lamb shank special. All were great.
Excellent service and a nice quiet patio, that's the good part.
We have eaten at Vogue many times before, that is, before new management took over.
Unfortunately this experience was less than stellar.
The special of the night was Dover sole. This delicate fish was fresh but dry and overcooked. It was actually burned on the bottom. The "chef" must have had too many things going. It must have been left sitting on the grill to keep warm. The shrimp/scallop stuffing was tasteless It will be a long time before we return.
Great food at a reasonable price. The Tuna Tower appetizer is a delicious meal in itself. I had the steak au poivre, cooked exactly as i ordered it. My wife had Duck 2 Ways and loved both of them. The Creme Brulee impressed me, and I consider myself a Creme Brulee connoisseur!
We ate on the patio and it was quiet and delightful Can't speak for the noise level inside.
Service from the kitchen was very slow. We kept being told our food was on it's way and then we where told someone's dinner was burned and they had to hold the rest. Not offered anything and waited for our dinner 1:45. Food was average, server did not communicate until we pushed the issue.
We went for a quick family meal while my son was visiting from out of town. We've had food here before but had previously got it to go. When we arrived the restaurant was empty and we were seated immediately. We took sometime to order because the menu has such great items. After ordering, we then waited approximately an hour for our meals. During this time our waiter never came to our table. Our water glasses were filled 6-8 times but no one came to ask if we needed anything else; appetizer, drink etc or to explain why the hold up on our food. A few more parties started to trickle in to the restaurant so it wasn't due to it being busy. The waiter did manage to stop at the other few tables and chat with the guests while noticeably passing ours without a word.
Once our food did arrive, for the most part it was delicious. We had burgers, salmon, and filet, with varying sides. The steak and burgers were overdone (well done v medium rare) but still quite tasty. The risotto was, as usual, delicious. And the salmon perfect. Desert was sublime- The Cake and creme brûlée.
I can only assume they must have been a little off for their start of dinner service on this day.
We will go back another time and see if the service is as slow and neglectful again before giving up on a restaurant that has such great food!
We were looking for something different in the area . We really were surprised . The atmosphere was casual yet upscale. A great variety of food on the menu and the presentation was very nice. The price was very reasonable also. We will definitely add this restaurant to our list of favorites .
Food was outstanding as was the service. Our waiter suggested the special of the evening, the sea bass, and it was superb. It was preceded by the charcuterie appetizer and finished off with the lemon cake. The meal was accompanied by a Joel Gott cabernet. We're red wine drinkers no matter what we eat!
There were not enough servers when we arrived so the service was slow. In spite of the hostess saying we must be out in 1.5 hours (as our table was reserved at that time), it took longer than it should to get bill and pay. Outside, the cooling mist blew into the food so we set inside. The duck was good but my wife did not like the meatloaf as it was dense. We will not go back.
Great food, less than adequate service.
Went for my 30th anniversary which was a big deal for my wife and myself, but apparently not for the staff. I was expecting at least attentive service to make our night out a bit different from any other Saturday night. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case.
After being seated by a very pleasant hostess we sat for a full 15 minutes before our server, Dana, came to take our drink order. Once we finally received them we were pleased with our choices. For appetizers we ordered the shrimp cocktail and crab cake. Shrimp cocktail is amazing, beautiful huge shrimp well worth the price. The crab cake is up there with some of the best I’ve had. Fro entrees we had the scallops and the salmon. The scallops did not disappoint and the salmon was delicious. However, the risotto that was served with the dish was unfortunately undercooked. When I mentioned to Dana she said sometimes it’s under cooked and sometimes it’s over cooked. She said she would go to kitchen to try it. Do you think they make a big pot of it ahead of time? I don’t think so. During the meal it was obvious that Dana was more interested in the bigger groups of people in her section as it was difficult to track her down as she tended to their needs.
Overall, the food was good minus the risotto. The service left much to be desired. And, as far as having a special occasion there I wouldn’t recommend it. I’ll try it again on a normal Saturday maybe but not when I’m trying to impress anybody.
What an incredible dining experience! My wife and I chose Vogue for a date night and we couldn’t have been more impressed. The service was fantastic! Jason our waiter was polite, professional and pleasant. He offered us great suggestions and was attentive, funny, and personable. Then came the food...in one word wow!! The starter was brilliantly colorful and the flavors danced right off the plate and into our pallets! The entrees were just as impressive in both taste and presentation. We will be back to Vogue and soon! Job very well done, thank you!
Really has changed since new ownership. Good quality isn't as great but the cocktails are still awesome! We ordered French onion soup and it is different in taste and puff pasty is premade. Soup came out cold and we sent it back twice...never ate it. So disappointed
This was my fifth time dining at Vogue but my first time with exceptional service! Absolutely wonderful server named Matthew; he was informative, polite, professional and attentive. What an asset to Vogue he is! Also for the first time I noticed how everyone from managers to waitstaff to bussers worked seemlessly together to keep everything moving swiftly along. And with smiles and politeness to boot! As usual I enjoyed the tuna tower with my wine...absolutely delicious as I expected and a perfect light meal. I’m looking forward to my next visit!
We were looking for a restaurant that had very good food and the ratings were such at Vogue Bistro. We had a very nice quiet lunch and the presentation of the food was excellent and very tasty as well. It was quite a drive from our house but not far from our friends who were celebrating a wedding anniversary. We would return if we were in the area.
Have been to this restaurant many times and always had a wonderful experience. Was a bit disappointed this last time. Waited a very long time to be served dinner. When the rack of lamb was served, it was well done and I had ordered it medium rare. They did make me a new order and it was cooked to perfection the second time. At that point, my boyfriend was done with his meal. He was also disappointed as he ordered the flat iron steak and was served a very small filet mignon instead.
A wonderful evening enjoying the lovely weather and delicious food on the patio. Our server (who we’ve had before) had a bit of sarcasm when answering some of our parties questions about the menu. We most certainly will be requesting another waiter/waitress next visit. He’s ran out of chances with our group and his personality leaves much to be desired. Overall great food and cocktails!
