Vivo’s offers an opportunity to indulge in a full-blown amazing meal or meet friends for a late snack and well-created drink. Either way, you will be happy. And ... someday, when the weather is great, I will be excited to sit on their patio!’
We started out with the Shishito Pepper appetizer and the Octopus appetizer and were not disappointed! The peppers were simply prepared but delicious! The octopus was tender and delicious- prepared wonderfully:-) My husband had the scallop entree with a vegetable side (zucchini & sunchoke?). He loved it! The scallops were tender and cooked perfectly. I had the Arctic Char with three kinds of broccoli. It was AMAZING! I have never had this kind of fish but if this is what it tastes like, then I will definitely be eating it again! My husband also had the lemon creme brulee' dessert and said it was amazing as well.
The restaurant also works well with food allergies. I am allergic to gluten and casein and my husband is allergic to gluten and we had plenty of food choices.
On another note, they use environmentally friendly food containers for leftovers. I was VERY happy not to be given styrofoam! Thanks Vivo!
another great evening at Vivo. Sam and Lori make very guest feel welcomed. Our server was attentive, but not hovering, every course was delicious. This has been one of Pittsburghs best spots for years. If you appreciate great food and service, you owe it to yourself to visit Vivo.
Excellent as always! My favorite restaurant in all of the US!!!
Always a wonderful experience at Vivo!
Fabulous food, setting, service and drinks as always! This is always our first choice for any night out we get!
Dining at Vivo is always a great experience. It's where you can bring a client, hold a meeting, gather with friends, celebrate an occasion or simply settle in for a couple of appetizers with a great glass of wine. Sit at the bar and chat with others. Sit in the window and catch the energy in the village. Whatever you choose, the food will be consistently prepared and expertly presented.
Vivo absolutely blew us away! We went here for our anniversary and the food was incredible, the service was amazing, and we met the chef as we were dining. Well done!
Delicious food! Exceeded our expectations! Very knowledgeable waitress and very friendly staff. Excellent atmosphere!
Another terrific meal and fun vibrant crowd!
Excellent fine dining. A boutique, private feel with its perfectly small, comfortable size. The service, menu and food quality is as good as it gets in Pittsburgh. Allow an extra 5-10 minutes to find parking in Sewickley.
Meeting a friend for dinner, Vivo’s was the perfect venue for conversation, comfort and incredible food. Ed’s service - Josh’s drinks - Sam’s menu ... all incredible!!
We had a lovely meal at Vivo. We got there a little late, but they went out of their way to make sure we were provided for and that we were enjoying our meal. We greatly look forward to dining here again!
We had a delightful evening at Vivo Kitchen. As always, the food was just fabulous, especially the forest mushrooms and the porterhouse steak. The atmosphere is intimate without feeling crowded, and the service was spot on. Thanks for a wonderful birthday celebration!
What a treasure in Sewickley!
We were in Pittsburgh for a conference and took a chance based on the Open Table reviews and we were just delighted!
The octopus starter, the lamb chop main course and the forest mushrooms all get rave reviews.
Thank you to the chef and owner and our lovely server Roxanne for a marvelous meal!
Great menu - but seriously overlooked boar chop. I advised server who was very apologetic; but it still ended up remaining on the bill when dinner was done. Overall small plates rock!
Food was delicious and also a great presentation of each serving!
Wait staff was attentive to our needs!
I was disappointed when I learned the manager cancelled our reservation on OPEN TABLE , We arrived 45 minutes early and we were seated with no mention of this .
We value our reputation on Open Table and lodged a complaint.
Took a vendor out for a nice meal and he was so impressed with everything from the personal touch of Sam the chef coming to the table to make sure you enjoyed your meal to the best bartender and his recommendations for food pairings.
I am a fan of Vivo. Its creative menu, delicious entrees and appetizers, good wine list, and friendly service make it one of my favorites. I am awaiting warmer weather so I can dine on their lovely patio.
Terrible service
We had a wonderful evening. The staff is warm and friendly. The food is creative and healthy. We are never disappointed.
Hadn't been to Vivo in a few years. Dinner was terrific. Now anxious to go back. Wine list is good and not overpriced. Sam and Lori's hospitality is the best in the city.
We enjoyed a birthday dinner with sister & brother-in-law visiting from Miami. Delicious small plates and wine.
As always, the friendly atmosphere is only over shadowed by the clean, well prepared meal.
Always a great meal at Vivo. There was no pasta on the menu but we know Sam makes a great sauce, and sure enough, we got a side of pasta with red sauce upon request.
The chef's daughter's restaurant, Bite, used to be our favorite. When it closed and we learned of the connection to Vivo, we wanted to check it out. We finally did and it was amazing. It may even become a favorite. Fun and delicious starters. Substantial portions of excellent fare. Can't wait to go back.
The food preparation at Vivo is consistently exceptional. The food is never overloaded wiht spices or overcooked. You get the true taste of the food. A good test for me is when we ordered the Artic Char we were not asked how we wanted it prepared. It cam out rare which made it delicious. Too many restaurants overcook their fish. Never at Vivo. The wine list is very nice. Vivo is without a doubt one of this city's top restaurants.
Very good food, and friendly staff. Most items are a bit spicy but balanced by other flavors.
Dining at Vivo’s is a comfortable, delicious experience! From the great service to the yummy “clean” food (no fancy sauces needed), all was great.
This wonderful restaurant remains the constant measure of what other establishments aspire to be. Warm, inviting hospitality with fine dining but without pretense sets Vivo apart from trender newcomers.
The amaretto whiskey sour was a very nice cocktail.
The grilled shrimp with Peruvian salsa was bursting with flavor.
Everything about our time at Vivo was perfect. The service was outstanding - great recommendations by a gentleman who works in the kitchen (one of the chefs?!) so he could explain the items in mouthwatering detail. He made a perfect wine suggestion for us and was very considerate of our timing (heading to the theater) as well. And no visit to Vivo is complete without the owner/main chef Sam DiBattista stopping by our table to make sure all was well.
This is a hometown gem with a large geographic draw. We’re lucky to have Vivo in Sewickley!!
Excellent food. Excellent service. Will be back soon
Pleasant, warm, cozy, unpretentious, great service, slightly edgy in a good way.
Good vibe, comfortable
Fantastic outdoor patio for nice weather.
My wife and I do one new restaurant a month, and have had Vivo Kitchen one our list for some time now. We were not disappointed. The outdoor area was closed for winter but there was still a fire pit out there we could relax by while we waited for our table (We were early for our reservation). Appetizers were fantastic - we had the flatbread and the Brussels spouts, both perfectly seasoned. My wife had the chicken and I had the porterhouse. Portion sizes were good - we both had leftovers. Wine is VERY reasonably priced. The markup is less than 50%, which made ordering a very nice bottle of wine well within our budget.
Two drinks, two appetizers, two entrees, and a bottle of wine were under $200 after tip. Can't beat that for fantastic food and service.
Vivo can always be counted on for especially fine food, creatively planned, cooked and served. Sam Battista, the owner, takes great joy in his food and his restaurant. Whether you are a fish person or a red meat person, you will find something grand to enjoy. Sam's lamb chops are out of this world. My wife loves the appetizers and has been known to make a meal of two or three, possibly with a salad. The wine list is elegant, if a little pricey. Go, treat yourself and your companions to a wonderful experience!
We all had an exceptional meal, really enjoyed it..(typing now because of the minimum comment length).
We went to Vivo to celebrate my birthday. We have always enjoyed the food here. This time it fell a little short. The grilled shrimp was cold when it arrived and was undercooked. When I asked what the seasonal accompaniments were with the entree, the server said that the chef chooses them according to the entree. I am personally not a fan of this. I like to know what sides are going to be served with particular entrees.
Dinner was wonderful and Roxanne was too! We had a very nice time.
