The chef's daughter's restaurant, Bite, used to be our favorite. When it closed and we learned of the connection to Vivo, we wanted to check it out. We finally did and it was amazing. It may even become a favorite. Fun and delicious starters. Substantial portions of excellent fare. Can't wait to go back.
The food preparation at Vivo is consistently exceptional. The food is never overloaded wiht spices or overcooked. You get the true taste of the food. A good test for me is when we ordered the Artic Char we were not asked how we wanted it prepared. It cam out rare which made it delicious. Too many restaurants overcook their fish. Never at Vivo. The wine list is very nice. Vivo is without a doubt one of this city's top restaurants.
Very good food, and friendly staff. Most items are a bit spicy but balanced by other flavors.
Dining at Vivo’s is a comfortable, delicious experience! From the great service to the yummy “clean” food (no fancy sauces needed), all was great.
This wonderful restaurant remains the constant measure of what other establishments aspire to be. Warm, inviting hospitality with fine dining but without pretense sets Vivo apart from trender newcomers.
The amaretto whiskey sour was a very nice cocktail.
The grilled shrimp with Peruvian salsa was bursting with flavor.
Everything about our time at Vivo was perfect. The service was outstanding - great recommendations by a gentleman who works in the kitchen (one of the chefs?!) so he could explain the items in mouthwatering detail. He made a perfect wine suggestion for us and was very considerate of our timing (heading to the theater) as well. And no visit to Vivo is complete without the owner/main chef Sam DiBattista stopping by our table to make sure all was well.
This is a hometown gem with a large geographic draw. We’re lucky to have Vivo in Sewickley!!
Excellent food. Excellent service. Will be back soon
Pleasant, warm, cozy, unpretentious, great service, slightly edgy in a good way.
Good vibe, comfortable
Fantastic outdoor patio for nice weather.
My wife and I do one new restaurant a month, and have had Vivo Kitchen one our list for some time now. We were not disappointed. The outdoor area was closed for winter but there was still a fire pit out there we could relax by while we waited for our table (We were early for our reservation). Appetizers were fantastic - we had the flatbread and the Brussels spouts, both perfectly seasoned. My wife had the chicken and I had the porterhouse. Portion sizes were good - we both had leftovers. Wine is VERY reasonably priced. The markup is less than 50%, which made ordering a very nice bottle of wine well within our budget.
Two drinks, two appetizers, two entrees, and a bottle of wine were under $200 after tip. Can't beat that for fantastic food and service.
Vivo can always be counted on for especially fine food, creatively planned, cooked and served. Sam Battista, the owner, takes great joy in his food and his restaurant. Whether you are a fish person or a red meat person, you will find something grand to enjoy. Sam's lamb chops are out of this world. My wife loves the appetizers and has been known to make a meal of two or three, possibly with a salad. The wine list is elegant, if a little pricey. Go, treat yourself and your companions to a wonderful experience!
We all had an exceptional meal, really enjoyed it..(typing now because of the minimum comment length).
We went to Vivo to celebrate my birthday. We have always enjoyed the food here. This time it fell a little short. The grilled shrimp was cold when it arrived and was undercooked. When I asked what the seasonal accompaniments were with the entree, the server said that the chef chooses them according to the entree. I am personally not a fan of this. I like to know what sides are going to be served with particular entrees.
Dinner was wonderful and Roxanne was too! We had a very nice time.
New Years Eve
Wonderful menu, wonderful wine list, extremely pleasant and attentive wait staff.
Nothing less than one expects at Vivo! It's a Sewickley favorite. The foie gras appetizer was delicious and appropriately sized for a starter. One of us had shrimp, the other lamb chops. Both were excellent. Did we get dessert? Absolutely. It too was appropriately sized and delicious. Cheesecake in a cup. Yum. Go back? You can count on it.
Always enjoy the service and food at Vivo. Warm and comfortable with neighborhood feel. Food is always wonderful. Drinks too. Desserts are scrumptious. Fresh, fine, creative ... Vivo Kitchen is a gem!!
The meal was very good and service swift. Maybe too swift. Enjoyed the Tapa plates. Cost of drinks are on the high side but pretty liberal on the pours.
Outstanding service with unique dishes. We took our children ages 10 and 12 and they were able to find dishes that suited their tastes while enjoying trying something different. Highly recommend it. Great atmosphere!
Having the good fortune to have dined in some of the best restaurants around the world, It escapes me that Sam and his team don’t get consistent 5 stars from his clients. Vivo is consistant without being boring, creative without being quirky, comfortable and still classy with the highest quality food and great wines at reasonable prices; quite simply the best restaurant around.
Fantastic as usual! We have eaten here nurmerous times and they never disappoint.
It was a very enjoyable evening, it is our favorite place
We stopped here unexpectedly on the way home from the airport. Staff was very friendly and competent. We had two starters and split an entree and a dessert. All were carefully prepared and delicious. You could taste all of the ingredients - the flavor bursting in each bite. Very satisfying. Would love to go back and eat outdoors.
The food was excellent. Both the hostess and the waitress were not. It seemed we were a bother and the table opening up was more important than our experience. And, by the way, there was no one waiting for a table when we left. Too bad. Poor training of the staff.
We’ve been here many times! Have NEVER been disappointed. The chef/owner comes out to talk to his guests, and is extremely engaging and polite!
We’re from Chicago, but whenever we come to Pittsburgh we go to Vivo Kitchen. It’s the best spot in Sewickley! Love the food, the service, the space and the owners! We can’t wait to come back to town.
First time at Vivo and boy did they live up to their reputation for great food, service and ambiance. We 'grazed' on appetizers and loved every one of them. Especially the short ribs, served boneless. My wife and I will def be returning there soon!
Love Vivo Kitchen and go there often however I wish there could be at least vegetarian meal offered as the menu is very meat heavy. Also would love to see a daily soup during the fall and winter season.
We had the most wonderful dining experience. We dined on several Starters, and then the Main course was fabulous. Porterhouse Steak and the Crispy Whole Chicken. A great restaurant in the heart of Sewickley. The desserts were a perfect ending. Vivo will always be my first choice in the town. We had a lot of food for the price. Will go back as soon as we can and probably will have the Salted Carmel cheesecake again. It also would be a great place to meet up with friends and have a glass of good wine and a couple small plates.... Thank You VIVO .OUTSTANDING !
Always a great meal. Porterhouse with great appetizers make it worth the night alone.
