For breakfast I ordered a corn flakes coated French Toast. It was disappointing because the cornflakes did not make it delightfully crunchy as it has been in the past and my French Toast was barely warm.
Excellent food and the service was very goof. Servers were polite and accomodating.
We had a reservation for a Valentine's Day dinner at Vivo. When we arrived, there was one couple ahead of us waiting, but it took the hostess about five minutes to seat this one couple--unclear why. When the hostess finally took us to our table, the lights above us were flickering like a strobe light which made us feel like we were going to go catatonic before the appetizer. It took us five minutes to track down the hostess and then she finally moved us. We then waited another 20 minutes with no waitperson coming to our table to even give us water, much less take a drink order. We grabbed a manager and let him know we were waiting for a very long time with no service, he then went to our waitress to tell her we were waiting, and then she went straight to _another table_ to take their order (they sat down after us). At that point we just left. AWFUL SERVICE. Do not go to Vivo.
Considering how full the place was (about 30%) the service was EXTREMELY slow
My girlfriend and I went for Valentines Day. They had a 5-course prix fixe menu with wine pairings. The food was excellent the service could not have been worse. Of the 5 courses only once was the wine brought at the right time. Food would come out, 15-minutes later the wine would come. At one point we waited 10-minutes after the course came just to get silverware.

Service was poor and very slow, for a Friday evening of a convention at 6-7:30pm. The restaurant, in my opinion, was severely understaffed. Soup order was wrong when delivered & soup was cold. Had to ask waiter 3 times for rolls, which weren't delivered to our table until well after meals were served. (I saw our waiter placing frozen breads in oven.) I ordered beet salad with salmon. The salmon was undercooked/partially raw inside (perhaps also frozen?). The staff was aware of poor quality & waiter apologized. Without asking, we were not charged for our alcoholic drinks and a discount was applied to our bill. This overall experience was unexpected and disappointing for a high-end restaurant in such a reputable hotel like The Marriott.
A wonderful place with very attentive staff. They knew who we were before we even sat down, and made the celebration of a birthday very special. I highly recommend the food too! Can't go wrong with the scallops.
Arrived only to find host telling us he’d be right with us and then tending bar for 20 minutes. Finally walked out and went to another restaurant.

They were severely understaffed... they had one waitress for the whole restaurant and she was doing her very best to stay on top of every table. They appeared to have 2 cooks in the back (open concept so you can see into the kitchen) and there was also a manager running around like a chicken with his head cut off. One bus man was also walking around but looked overwhelmed and confused. We asked the waitress if they were just understaffed that day and she didn't really give an answer and said she just got there and wasn't sure what the issue was. Tables were getting up and leaving, angry at the waitress when it really wasn't her fault. This was clearly an management issue and not having enough staff on a night when a sold out concert was happening at the XL center (every other restaurant was booked solid), they had multiple events at the hotel happening as well, so they should have been better prepared. They waitress took the brunt of everything and removed her 18% gratuity that is automatically added to the check, which wasn't right... she shouldn't have to pay the price because of poor management.She had tears in her eyes as she dropped off the check. We left her a nice cash tip. The food wasn't bad and drinks were good, but based on this experience, I wouldn't go back.

The service was terrible. We sat down at 5pm and told the server we had to have the check by 6:50pm to make our evening plans (was told no problem). It took over 20min to take our drink orders. We were served our main dishes at 7:05pm. Over 2hrs after we got to the restaurant and 15min past our exit deadline. Additionally our check was incorrect and contained a few over charges. The salmon and beef dishes were tasty so the service was beyond disappointing.
You really can't go wrong here. Not crazy expensive, menu is not extensive but everything we ordered was executed very well and was delicious. One drawback was the dessert menu was not to my taste. Overall this place is really good.
My halibut was very dry... worst I have ever eaten. Menu was limited.

It took us over 2 hours to have a buffet breakfast. The pancakes and French toast we ordered came out over an hour after we ordered them. The waitress forgot to give us our waters and brought the wrong juice out. The food was excellent but the poor service really soured our experience. Especially when a member of our party had a bus to catch to the airport
The only complaint we had was that we made our reservation online. When we arrived there was no reservation for us. I showed my confirmation email and was informed that the hostesses do not receive the online reservation. The owner does. Better communication and or system would solve this. The hostess found us a table and we enjoyed our dining experience. Jenn was our waitress and served us well.
We had an absolutely wonderful time at Vivo! The atmosphere, the service and food were all amazing. A highlight was the shared cheese plater. If you are a cheese lover it is not to be missed. Would highly recommend Vivo!
3rd year for the Mother’s Day Brunch. Started with 3ppl and up to 8 and counting!’
Located in the Marriott right next to the Connecticut Science Center and in the pretty riverfront area. Our meal was delicious, and they have a very reasonably priced children’s menu. Staff was knowledgeable and attentive. Perfect spot after a long afternoon at the museum with children, but equally nice if you’re in the area on business.
We enjoyed our food, our table, and the fact that bottles of wine are 1/2 off on Thursdays--tho we probably had a bit too much.
The food and service were very good. The beet and Arugula salad was very nice and the scallops were great. Others had the Veal meatballs and liked them and the Halibut was said to be really good.
Wine list is not very extensive and a bit over priced. Overall it was a very good meal.
We went for a dinner birthday. We had made reservations on a Friday night at 6pm. We were practically the only people in the restaurant for our entire dining time. Service was good overall. The menu is VERY limited, only one pasta dish offered and it was not favorable, ordered but not eaten. Caesar salad blan. Flat breads were ok. Would not return.
We enjoyed our meal at Vivo, the staff was all friendly, and the dining room was pretty. However they were very understaffed for a Saturday night which meant that the service was slow. They did comp us a drink, which we appreciated. If it had not been for the delay I would have rated the service higher because they were all helpful and nice.

Went for Valentine’s Dinner. Unfortunately my pasta dish was over cooked. We have been a few other times and it just didn’t meet our expectations as it has in the past. Felt way overpriced.

The server was very nice but she just seemed new at the job and the food was worth the price.

Food was less than desirable. Small portion of hash browns were cold. Waitress seemed busy and forgot one of our drinks for quite some time. Stopped here on my way to Portland for vacation, was hoping to get the vacation started at this spot and definitely was disappointed! Wish we had chosen another location
Service was a bit slow and there wasn’t anyone there.
Food tasted good and the people were nice. Not suggested for lunch if attending meetings or a conference. Even with a reservation and pre-noted time constraint for the conference we were attending, most of our group had to leave without food after 55 minutes (orders weren’t started so they were able to cancel them). Table wasn’t ready when we came in despite only a few diners. Some of us waited and had our food brought out in boxes to take up with us, but missed the meeting. Food yummy, but not a good option if you only have an hour for lunch.
The food was very good , the service was good but patronizing at times. I think if you’re staying at the hotel nearby or at the convention center for an event it’s a good convenient choice, but I would not make the effort to drive a distance for the experience.
The food is good, the services they try really hard with. Not everything came correct, but they quickly corrected things. My favorites are the Lamb meat balls and the Bolognese.
From the food to service to ambiance Vivo is an all around ok restaurant. I would recommend it for a quick bite if you’re at the convention center and don’t want to go too far for a meal.
Convenient. Food was over cooked and Luke warm. Cocktails were excellent. Servers Abby and Vanessa were great. Matt the mgr was very good. Kitchen needs work
