Vivo, located in Chicago, Illinois, offers a breathtaking atmosphere to enjoy traditional Italian favorites. The dcor consists of brick walls, white tablecloths and the light noise in the dining room. For those looking for a venue for an event, Vivo provides private dining opportunities, as well as catering for weddings and rehearsals. Another unique fixture is Table 70, which is perched over the rest of the dining room for an intimate and romantic setting.
The lunch menu at Vivo consists of many types of pasta and sandwiches, including the popular eggplant sandwich with Buffalo mozzarella and a tomato basil sauce. Dinner is a more decadent menu, where you can enjoy New Zealand rack of lamb or the osso buco, which is a braised veal shank with mashed horseradish.
Vivo has been around quite a while, however, it is scheduled to close this week for good - therefore, I cannot recommend it.
Portions were great, food was good, seafood wasn't quite as fresh as I'd hoped it would be. All in all, it was good, not great. I really enjoyed the ambiance.
The food and service was very good. We did wait a bit for our waiter , who seemed to be more than a waiter, but he said they were having wifi issues and he more than made up for it. We had the beef carpaccio and beet carpaccio. They were very good. My husband said the beef just melted in your mouth. The beet was equally good with a great sales on top of both which made it a bit more food than I expected. He had the osso bucco and I had the eggplant Parmesan. It was very good, although I would have liked it to be a little less breaded and a little crisper but that's just me. I couldn't eat it all so had it boxed up to take home then forgot it....really ticked me off. I woke up wanting it! We shared the tiramisu and it was also very good. We took the waiters recommendation on wine and was not disappointed. Would have given the atmosphere a higher rating but it was extremely hot in the restaurant that night. Overall I would recommend it and would go back, this was our second but not last visit.
Excellent food, excellent drinks and excellent wine! The oil/cheese they bring out with bread was AMAZING! I would have bought a bottle of it if I could. We had never heard of this restaurant and were so happy we found it! We ate outside and it was bustling and awesome and fun! I would highly recommend Vivo's! We will be bringing other friends back there! :)
Very noisy, staff is inattentive, food ok, its more of a noisy lounge than a fine dining.
So many restaurants on West Radolph and by far this is the best! Terrific food, ambience and service. My husband and I eat out a lot, and can't say enough about this place! We'll definitely be back.
Great ambiance, great service, I'll continue to come back!
I reserved table 70 for our 8th wedding anniversary. The food was top notch, the ambiance was very romantic and the service was excellent! We will be coming bacvk the next time we are in Chicago. The entire neighborhood is a gem!
Delicious bread dipping sauce. Great pasta Bolognese and rigatoni
I had pasta and the sauce was excellent. I asked for grilled chicken to be added and it was grilled perfectly. The ambience was very nice and it wasn't overly crowded.
I dined at Vivo after reading the positive comments by previous goers. And I, too, share in the enthusiasm for this restaurant.
It was uncommonly perfect weather on the evening I dined, and so I enjoyed a lovely table on the street. The joyous atmosphere of Randolph Street only added to the restaurant's well-designed decor.
The food was both reasonably priced and reasonably seasoned. In addition to ordering some menu staples, I choose one of the specials of the evening -- an expertly-prepared ravioli. Delicious.
I would be remiss not to share that all bottles of wine are 50 percent off on Thursdays (as of the writing of this review). Unlike other restaurants, this special is not intended to distract from bland food. On the contrary, the wine special only made a lovely dinner that much more enjoyable.
Everything was perfect for my birthday celebration - the drinks, food and service! When we arrived at our designated time of reservation, the table we requested was waiting for us!
1/2 priced Thursday night bottles of wine was a nice suprise. Service was great. Our waiter did a great job of explaining all the options on the menu.
We wanted to eat at a nice place in the city with some friends from out of state. There are many choices but I was looking for an Italian restaurant with excellent quality and atmosphere that wouldn't require I take out a second mortgage to pay the bill.
I chose Vivo because I had been there before and was familiar with everything I needed for a nice meal that wouldn't disappoint friends.
Everyone was pleased with the quality, service, and price. I was not disappointed that I chose this restaurant out of the hundreds available in the city.
We chose this restaurant for date night. The food was excellent. We each had one of the specials and neither disappointed. Only disappointment was expensive wine list.
Vivo is a Randolph Street Restuarant that has withstood the test of time. It was worth returning to this old favorite: good service, food and atmosphere. I must put it back in rotation!
Had a great time and a great meal. We went at 8pm, so it was dark outside and candles were lit everywhere in the restaurant. Very romantic. We will be going back. Great experience.
I recently dined at Vivo on Sunday night with friends for a dinner club and was very disappointed by the service. I had to ask our server to come and read us the specials because she was not attentive to our 7 top. The food was excellent but the service was sub par and I have always had great service at vivo. I take clients here and friend and recommend this establishment because of the unique dining experience and fantastic food but the service really ruined my love for Vivo. Also, we were nearly the only table there on a Sunday night.
The food and service were excellent, very cute romantic spot or a good spot for apps with the gals
Get one of the pastas and any of the mixed drinks. Everything is really good so you can't go wrong, but when in Rome is a good attitude to have
