I travel all over the country for business. Anytime I’m in Chicago I have to go to Vivere. Hands down they make the best Bolognese in the country. I dream of their Bolognese!!!!!
Fabulous dinner before going to the theater. Waiter asked our time frame and made sure we met our timeline. Looking forward to going back again soon.
The restaurant was incredible, the food was delicious, all of the staff were friendly and helpful. We went there to celebrate my mom’s birthday and it was just wonderful!
Overall value is not the greatest. I was dining with a Vegan, who found it difficult to find any dishes on the menu that were attractive to her.
Delicious! I had the chicken breast and my husband had the steak. They both had a slight char on them that enhanced the flavor beautifully! Great service, nicer restaurant. The app suggested business casual attire but there were people entering in jeans. For two people bill will be about $100-$150. Again great food and a 3 minute walk to the CIBC Theatre!
What an exceptional experience! We arrived before a concert at the CSO, our server asked what time our showing was and we had plenty of time to spare. Excellent seafood and wine selection, handmade pasta was to die for! I can't wait to come back.
Great food and great service !! Loved it !!
They knew we had tickets to the theater and took very good care of us .
Had an absolute great time !!! The wife had the best experience for her birthday as Italian is her favorite food. I ordered from the menu of the restaurant upstairs which wasn’t an issue and our waitress was amazing. Our water was never empty and the wine list was off the charts !!! Definitely have to go back as it was the perfect night! Thanks again!!
We have been to Vivere many times...our favorite restaurant within Italian Village...comfortable dining with excellent food and service...the calamari appetizer was delicious and thank you for recognizing my daughter’s birthday...of course we will be back the next time in Chicago...this is where we always start our Chicago trip! Thank you!
This restaurant is a hidden treasure - it is one of the three restaurants in the Italian Village complex - the other two I would not recommend as anything special. Vivere has an incredible art deco interior, the food is very good and the service excellent. I have recommended it to several friends who also raved about it.
Outstanding food. Absolutely delicious. Service was very good and the decor was pretty cool. It feels like a very expensive place. It is not cheap, but it is not overly expensive.
We were very satisfied by the experience and Vivere. We were there for lunch before a matinee of Hamilton. We were seated immediately, the server asked if we had an engagement to be sure we were neither rushed nor delayed. The service was excellent as was the food. What was nice is the menu offering has a number of different choices not normally seemed allowing you to try something different. Overall it was great.
The halibut was great and so was the crème brulee and the banana bundt cake.
Portions small, noisy event and waited quite some time for our food
WONDERFUL! My friend and I stayed at the Palmer, went to Hamilton, and topped it off with Vivere! Perfect day!
My first time at Vivere was most enjoyable. I plan to come back again sometime soon. Thank you for the great service and ambiance!
Lively restaurant. A bit congested, but fun. Good food. Uneven service. A little pricey, but we enjoyed our evening and would return.
Perfect meal right before a show. The portions were not so large that you would fall asleep. Great tasting food as well. The service was top notch.
Visiting Chicago, put this Itailian restaurant on your reservations!!
Great food and drinks! Loved the mozzarella & Tomato Salad. We had the Bologense & ravioli! Yumm. I left my credit card & they called me immediately to let me know!
Service was impeccable. Cocktails were interesting and tasty. Food was wonderful.
Had not been to Vivere in years but it has gone way down hill. Menu was limited, food quality just okay and service slow despite being very empty on a Thursday evening.
A nice option before Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, we ordered the carbonara and the seafood calabrese. Both were delicious.
I'm so glad we chose Vivere for our dinner out to celebrate my husband's birthday! From the moment we walked up to the bar to the end of our meal, nothing disappointed. The service was relaxed, the food was delicious (I had the lamb, which was probably the best lamb I've had, aside from my Mother's, lol) They even brought my husband a dessert with a candle to celebrate. I would highly recommend this one of the Italian Village restaurants!
This is a beautiful place with incredible menu and wonderful staff.
We were seated upstairs which felt a bit squished, and was quite hot. My advice is to wear light clothing.
Our meal was outstanding, and the only reservation is that it felt a bit rich... maybe that is typical in Chicago though? Either way, the selection and the flavours were sublime.
The food was amazing and the service wonderful. The pheasant angiolittini was amazing.
Unique, inviting atmosphere; pleasant, thoughtful server; perfectly prepared food; extensive menu; something to please everyone; really impressive wine list; polite, helpful, experienced sommelier.
An excellent pre-Hamilton meal. The butternut squash ravioli was especially good.
Dane our server was absolutely the BEST!!! He made our evening unforgettable!!!😍😍😍
Very good experience as always
Good food: very good (and reasonable) wine list
Loved the food! Loved the service! Will go back for sure!
After the reviews, I expected something much better. The portions were small and our food was flavorless. I had the risotto and my friend had the spaghetti. For what we paid, I expected better. The service was great and the atmosphere fun. If you don’t mind paying a lot for an average meal, you will enjoy.
Good food in fun setting. The wine list was extensive and the food was classic Italian. Service was also very good.
We were there for our anniversary and it was outstanding! Our waiter, Dane was one of the best! Very knowledgeable, accommodating to our needs , friendly, professional- can’t say enough. The food was excellent- good place
Very attentive service. Corn chowder was fantastic.
Surprisingly good value with excellent food, atmosphere and service. After going to the cantina for years would definitely eat here again.
Average service and average food, with so many other options in the area we probably won’t be back.
Absolutely totally wonderful from start to finish! You never ever disappoint!
My daughter and I went for a birthday dinner. It was fun and we had a nice booth. Everyone was friendly and helped us all through dinner.
This is a high end restaurant near the theatre in the city, so expect to pay, but you get everything exactly as you imagine. I went here with my mum before going to see Hamilton at the theatre. They put us near the front, but this was perfect as it was a narrow area of limited number of 2 seater dinner booth seating, which made it quiet and intimate. The decor I would describe as "whimsical italian". The server was excellent at recommending wine parings. Split an appetizer with my mum - a roasted portabello mushroom with balsamic dressing, proscuitto, and other things (can't remember now and their menu has changed). I had a salmon for the main course and my mum had the chicken, which was impeccable. The desserts were amazing which paired it with a port wine. Everything was perfect.
