First time at Vivere! Very interesting interior decoration (in a positive way)! Prefixed menu was good and enjoyed very much. Will try outdoor dining when the weather permits. Way to GO Vivere!!
Food was excellent. Service was excellent. The lighting is too bright.
Our experience at Vivere was awesome. Our waiter was very attentive to our requests and made us feel right at home. The interior decor reflected a wide variety of interesting colors and styles. I was impressed by the fact that there are three restaurants in the same location, each providing a different style of Italian cuisine as part of the Italian Village. The appetizers looked very appealing and provided a delicious pre-cursor to the actual meal. The pheasant stuffed pasta was cooked to perfection and almost melted in my mouth. The wine selection was extensive and well priced. Overall an incredible dining experience that should not be missed.
We had a phenomenal experience here, my fiancé was raving about the food all weekend. Our waiter was extremely helpful and well-versed on the menu options, the atmosphere was great, and the food was exceptional. I probably would have rated the noise level a notch lower if it wasn't for a particularly loud table seated behind me, the general restaurant vibe was quiet and classy.
My friend and I estimated that it was between 8 - 15 years since either of us had eaten at Italian Village. Vivere was our choice for an early dinner so that we could be at the Lyric by 6:45 PM... the waiter was in 100 ways the best possible server we have had. He moved us at our chosen "accelerated pace" while at the same time being attentive to the multiple requests we made (she's gluten and dairy free and I eat no pasta/meat and wanted salad during the romaine recall. My grilled octopus came with a large fresh salad mix of spinach and kale. My request for coffee (hot & black) was taken as seriously as her selection of a wine. The server said he's been with IV 28 years - I can see why - he was a tremendous value add to our dining experience. She had chicken and loved it, as well as the soup of the day. We definitely plan a return for another visit in the future. The valet parking - what a gift in downtown Chicago.
We had a lovely pre-theatre dinner. The scallops were outstanding!
Our favorite Italian restaurant. We come from Milwaukee and are so glad we come. Best waiter ever - customer service from the time you enter the door to even calling with special requests was outstanding. Please never change.
We found Viviere on Open Table and enjoyed great service and atmosphere. After being at a very loud meeting, it was very relaxing and the service was top notch. The food was very creative but could have used a little more spice/seasoning and my pasta was slightly overcooked but I would definitely try Viviere again.
Went after theater on Saturday night... the service wasn’t the best. They seemed understaffed. But food was good and moderately priced!
We picked this restaurant because it was close to the holiday concert we were attending. I had expected it to be more upscale and quiet. It was instead small and cramped, filled to capacity, and loud. The food was Ok, but we felt the portions were small. The service however was excellent, our waiter was attentive and responsive with a great personality. Last, the washrooms are very small and if someone else is using, you will have to wait your turn.
Menu leaves a lot to be desired if you b aren't into veal, pheasant, duck, shellfish. You b an do a lot better and cheaper.
We were seated right away when we arrived...led up an attractive staircase to a romantic table for two. The waiter asked if we had theater tickets and where so he could keep us on schedule. We both had a glass of red wine, an appetizer, and the veal chop entree. Everything was absolutely delicious, and the service was great.
Always love Vivere, fro the moment you are greeted till you leave you are well served as a customer.
Interesting menu, great service. Convenient to the loop.
I ordered the skirt steak sandwich and the meat was so tough I couldn’t even bite through it. I told the waitress and her comment was skirt steak can be tough! Not response I would give to a customer.
Superb post theatre meal after Hamiltion. Reasonably priced and extraordinary service.
Fantastic hidden gem with creative menu extensive wine list and excellent service. First time here and will return when in Chicago as there were too many items I wanted to try and with a seasonal rotation I would never get tired of their selections. I was truly impressed and so were the rest of our party. Well Done!
The food was delicious and all of the wait staff was very attentive. The chef even came out to ask how we were doing. Highly recommend!
Had an evening planned at the theatre and chose Vivere. We were not disappointed. Our waiter was superb as we’re all the other staff. Every need was met. We always split our meals and food was tasteful and plenty. Our waiter recommended an Italian wine for both of us—sauvignon bean and an Italian Pinot. Excellent choices. Dessert was equally delicious and suggest not rating too much so you have room for any one of the options. Highly recommend.
It was a pleasant small dinner before the Hamilton musical, we were little late for our reservation due to crazy traffic in downtown, but the hostess was very attentive and understanding and able to find us good table .
No place better for pre- and post theater meals. Great choices of meals, delicious and abundant food, nice wine list and very accommodating staff, as well as pleasant atmosphere.
Excellent service and food. Bit noisy for a business meeting but added to the ambiance. Will certainly go back.
Everything from antipasto through pasta, secondi, and dessert was top notch. Wonderful flavors. Drinks and wine were great as well. Wish I could give it Vivere six stars
Awesome awesome people are the greatest it was our anniversary and waiter most generous
My mother, sister and I ate here after seeing Hamilton. It was a bit busy with theater goers as it is very close to the CIBC theater. So worth the crowd! The food is absolutely amazing. Some of the best Italian food I've ever had the pleasure of enjoying.
Our waiter, Cameron, was fantastic! He asked if we were going to the theater that evening, so he could make sure that we had plenty of time to enjoy our dinner -- no rushing. We never felt like we were having to hurry; Cameron took care of timing our dishes perfectly! The food was outstanding. The portions were small and pricey, but the quality and ambiance was worth it. Great place for a special night out!
Great experience. Service was superb. Lots of attention, but not intrusive. Food was exceptionally delicious they were prompt and on time for us to make the theatre.
Vivere is delicious food with gracious service and a beautiful setting. Well worth taking the time with business guests, friends or family.
The host incorrectly said I did NOT have a reservation, I asked twice "are you sure?" but seated me anyway. I told him I was waiting for a guest coming at noon. My guest arrived and asked for me and the host said I hadn't checked in and she sat there and eventually left after 30 minutes as she thought I was detained prior to lunch. The host saw me sitting in the rear portion of the restaurant and never bothered to see if my guest was the one I was waiting for. Lazy and clueless. Next time, not Vivere.
Went there for Dinner on the 24th prior to seeing Hamilton. Food and service was great. Our waiter was super helpful. Thanks Daniel
Had a 7:30pm Saturday reservation. That was a mistake because Vivere does a significant pre-theater business. It was controlled bedlam as many patrons were pressed for time. We weren't. It would have been far more relaxed for us, the server and the kitchen if we had made our reservation even a half hour later. You live and you learn.
Wow. Wow. Wow. Cameron was a top notch server. The sommelier made incredible suggestions for our dinner wine pairings. The atmosphere was exquisite. Thank you Vivere for making our Chicago date night incredible.
Really excellent food and wines in a fun and funky atmosphere. Housemade pastas and other items are a big plus. Competant, unobtrusive and friendly service.
We wanted an authentic Italian before going to the theater and Vivere delivered. The waiter asked at the beginning if we were attending a theater show. He made sure that we had an excellent experience and enough time to get to the theater. Service and meal were excellent. Job well done.
This restaurant refused to accept my dining rewards points from open table
Great food and ambiance. They asked if we were celebrating anything or going to the theater to make sure we were set up for timing.
From start to finish, this meal was great. We came in for my mom’s 70th birthday and they did not disappoint. From service, to food, to ambience, everything was spot on. They weren’t super friendly when I called to confirm the reservation so I was really nervous, but they were amazing. Our server was SO kind and helpful and really made the night. This is especially amazing when you consider the volume of people that eat at Italian Village!!!!
Thank goodness that we weren’t going to a show. Long time to get our order in and our meal. They comped our desserts, so all is forgiven.
The food was fine despite the small portions but the service was awful.
Service and food were great. Restaurant is right across the street from the CIBC Theatre if you're ever in the neighborhood catching a show. Portions were a bit small for the price. We sat upstairs and thought the ambience was quaint. Waiter was very nice, polite and he ensured I had a healthy pour of wine (both glasses)!
