Absolutely outstanding. My new favorite place! Highly recommend. Menu options superb, as was the service.
Everyone was great! All knew we were on a tight time frame with show in about an hour. Gave great food recommendations, all was wonderful. Had kids menu too which is always a winner!
The food was amazing! The deserts were delightful as well!
Great lace to eat before Hamilton.
It's nice to go to a place where the food and the service exceeds expectations. Highly recommend.
Outstanding experience. Service was excellent. I have been to many fine restaurants and our server knew exactly what she was doing, anticipating our needs at every step. Food was excellent, grilled calamari was great, the salmon superb and the risotto was cooker perfectly, no small feat. Was provided a creme brulee for my girlfriend's birthday, a nice touch. Had a leisurely paced dinner, arrived at 5 pm and dined for 2 hours, still plenty of time to go the the CIBC theater. Their valet allows you to stay for the performance as well - a bonus. We will definitely repeat! Thank you!
Great Food, Friendly Staff and reasonable prices. .......................................
The food, ambience everything was great. But they did change the menu a bit. I vibrated this place almost a year ago so guess it did change a bit in a year. They have new chef and the food still tastes amazing
Second time there. Everyone nice and food outstanding.
Had dinner with a dear friend here last night and we loved it. My friend is gluten-free and was staying downtown in the Loop. In researching restaurants near her hotel, I found that the Italian Village had numerous gluten-free items on their menu so we chose Vivere. We had a great dinner. They had a special salad on the menu that included grilled peaches and nectarines and duck prosciutto and my friend chose that and raved about it. I started with the Insalata di Asparagi: shaved asparagus, frisee, fried shallots, sheep cheddar in a truffle oil vinaigrette with a poached egg on top. It was divine. The combo of the egg and truffle oil (along with those fried shallots) made every bite a delight. From there, I moved on to the grilled octopus which came with purple potatoes, butternut squash, and a port wine aioli. Grilled perfectly, the octopus was tender and the squash made the dish even better. For dessert, my friend had the creme brulee (perfect as she described it) and I had the brown butter cheesecake which was delicious. Our service was impeccable and I couldn't have imagined a better place to have dinner downtown.
Terrific value; the perfect spot for a nice dinner before the CIBC show, really.
Always a nice place for a quiet meal. Everything was wonderful!
Nice old-timey place. Food is good - a little more creative than upstairs at the Village.
Was not disappointed food was very good and creative presented with style
Excellent service, the waiter was very helpful with dish and wine choices. The lamb was cooked perfectly and exactly how I asked. My fiancée said she could the scallops every day. Lighting and music was relaxing and welcoming. My first time in Chicago and dinner here was definitely the highlight of my trip.
I am a retired personal chef, and I love flavorful, well-prepared food. My husband and I went to Vivere because it was near the CIBCTheater, where we would be seeing the play Hamilton. From the first bite, my taste buds were singing! We were only in Chicago for the extended weekend, and hadn't been in the city for 20 years or more. We had dinner at a jazz place a couple of days before, and I ordered Risotto, because it's what I grew up eating, in my Italian immigrant family. All of my grandparents were born in Italy. The risotto at that restaurant, while being cooked well, and having interesting flavors, was NOT true risotto. It was liquidy, unlike sticky and thick risotto from Italy. The risotto at Vivere was not only tremendously flavorful, but the correct consistency, so I got more than aI expected. The combination of flavors (pistachio pesto, crabmeat, etc.), along with the presentation and service were remarkable and truly memorable. I felt like a queen!
We celebrated my granddaughters 10th Birthday. The waitress was visibly unhappy when I asked for the children’s menu. She didn’t bring her beverage until the meal was almost over. She didn’t check back after food was brought.
An assistant manager came and brought her special birthday dessert which made a big difference in the experience. However I would never go back. The waitress really ruined the whole upscale dining experience.
Great food. Stopped before going to Hamilton. Huge wine list!
I wasn’t sure what to expect on arrival, the atmosphere was very classy (white table cloths, candles, etc) but there were some kids rolling around in a booth with their ignoring parents, not what I was hoping for on my date night. Our waitress was very pleasant but distant, she spoke to us only when forced or requested. We work in the industry and enjoy making company with our servers when we can, it can make or break our meal experience. We were given several samples of different wines, courtesy of the restaurants sommelier. He was incredibly helpful and kind. Our food came out quickly and had great flavor until we got to the entree. We ordered the 20oz ribeye w potatoes and asparagus. The food was good but not great. Overall the experience wasn’t bad by any means but I also don’t really have anything to rave about either aside from the wine expertise of the sommelier. Wouldn’t pick this place again but also wouldn’t be opposed if someone else wanted to go.
Great service and great food.
My pasta was excellent my husbands lump crab risotto and it was bitter and would not recommend it
Best food ever!!! Including the Italian food that I eat in Italy... Vivere is the best ever!!
Service ambiance were excellent. Chairs a bit uncomfortable. Entree for me was cold and dry. Great salad and desserts. The other entree a guest had was excellent. Not overly impressed but thought I would try it.
It was excellent in all respects and our server was very helpful with a nuanced wine recommendation for the entrees. All the staff was friendly and professional, and yet unobtrusive. It's a favorite spot for Loop dining with an Italian flavor.
Our favorite place in Chicago. They want me to write more words, but what’s the point?
We chose it because of its location. We weren’t expecting much. We got the pre-theater fixed price menu. Salad was good, scallops were outstanding and creme brûlée was perfect (if not a bit large!). We met family we haven’t seen in months and having a conversation was easy. The room was quirky interesting and aesthetic. We were all super happy with Vivere!
Great food and service. They always deliver with quality and consistency
Everything about Vivere is amazing. Food is perfect and the service is second to none. Would recommend to anyone!
The perfect place to go if you're going to see Hamilton. The service was amazing & our server even asked if we were seeing the show to make sure to let the kitchen know. Food was delicious and out quickly.
The restaurant was beautiful, the service perfect, and the food and wines, delicious. This was our first visit to Chicago, and won’t be our last!
This is the second of the three restaurants at the Italian Village that we have visited. Previously we had been to the original from the 1920's. Vivere is the upscale selection of restaurants there. The food here was excellent whereas we were a bit disappointment by the original. This place is definitely upscale. Service was friendly and helpful but not overbearing. Not inexpensive but the quality and ambiance make it worth it for a special occasion.
Average food at best for a big $$. I didn't find the meals worth it. Minestrone soup was very bland with little to no flavour. Squid was lukewarm, and when the side items are more then the main focus you know it isnt right. Caprese salad was VERY salty with chunks of coarse ground sale galore. Only good part of the meal in my opinbion was the flan and beet salad. I will not hurry back
Very unique restaurant, 3levels, perfect for special occasion
We really enjoyed our dinner at Vivere. Our pastas were fresh and perfect. Service was outstanding.
I went to Vivere for a business lunch on a Thursday afternoon. It was the first time I was there. The food was among the best Italian food I have ever had anywhere in the world. Similarly, the prices and service were excellent.
The meal we had was just OK for the price. There are 3 levels to the Italian Village. We chose the wrong one!
We had a great time at Vivere! We celebrated my Father In Laws 80th Birthday Italian style! He loved it and staff were so kind to treat him like a king! Our waiter, Ryan, was top notch to our group. Thank you so much! The only reason for a 4/5 on this is we thought it was a little pricey for pasta but overall the experience was great!
Great! It was a fun experience
We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. Start to finish an exceptional experience. Very attentive wait staff, knowledgeable servers and a chocolate flourless cake for my wife's birthday.
Outstanding. I had never been here before and I will be back soon. I had the pheasant stuffed pasta and it was so good, I almost wanted to order another course of it.
