Vivace - Charlotte Ratings and Reviews
Husband chose this place because it had gluten free options. However, the chicken dish he ordered from GF menu was definitely not GF. Before we even left, he started getting an itchy rash on arms and legs. Server didn’t come back to our table at all during our meal to refill water glasses or ask if we wanted more drinks. The coffee was mediocre at best. Cappuccino was lukewarm. Overall, was disappointing evening.
Food was tasteless and desperately needs someone to know how to season whatever their cooking -- except for copious amount of rosemary in the bread and one of the side dishes; an aggressive spice that was badly and liberally overused. No other seasoning seemed present in other food. Turkey gravy was "fine", as was the white meat turkey. The dark meat had several long, hard pieces that wouldn't even cut with a knife. The olive oil mashed potatoes were completely without flavor. Desserts were (a) bread pudding, which had the mouth feel of baby food and (b) apple pie - that was a child-sized slice and WAY too sweet. Hostess station manned by two young ladies who could have cared less about someone's arrival or greeting people. One was fully engaged in conversation with a dishwasher - as evidenced by his overalls / bib. She did not break her conversation until, after almost a full minute, I said "excuse me". Oh, she saw me standing there, but quickly looked back to the dishwasher-guy. The restaurant needs to be thoroughly cleaned - and the windows are a mess. We will not be back, we will not recommended - quite the opposite.
The food at Vivace on Thanksgiving was excellent. Sadly there was no outside seating, and the inside ambiance is not great. In addition, loud 60s music was blaring which just didn't seem appropropriate for the occasion. This was our first time at Vivace, and we hope to give it another try--espcially when the patio is open.
I love the atmosphere here. It is chic and casual with a relaxing ambiance. Wine selection is good and reasonably priced. Service is always amazing and the staff is well informed. The food is good - not to die for but good. I get the pappardelle but the recipe seemed a little different this time. Overall I enjoy my experiences here and would recommend to anyone wanting something that’s affordable and not the same old chain restaurant.
Wow, what a disappointment . There was over 1500 reviews for this restaurant, so being new to Charlotte and on my 6 year anniversary, I decided to give it a shot. On the way over, our cab driver commented how it was a nice restaurant and the views were spectacular...she ate there personally .
When we first got there, we noticed everyone was sitting downstairs . I asked for a seat with the view, and I was told someone had rented the entire upstairs and it was closed for the evening (7PM) . I was ok with this, and was politely brought to my table . I was then greeted by an inexperienced waiter, who took exceptionally long for anything I asked him (they were not that busy), was brought the two worst Moscow mules that I had...ever . The noise from the party upstairs was so loud that their music was blending in the with the music downstairs. The waiter could barely hear me and had to lean in several times just to hear what I was saying .
The food was par at best, was never brought any bread, and paid $34 for a beef tenderloin that was extremely small and only ok as far as taste goes .
I left there laughing about the whole experience bc it was so bad that it just became funny in the end. I will never go back to this place with my wife or recommend it to anyone in the future.
I dined on a Saturday evening at 6:30 so it was early. The service was good, not spectacular, the food selection was okay and I settled in on the veal saltamboca which was not tender but certainly edible frankly I was expecting more flavor. Was it a good meal for the money, yes. Was the atmosphere nice for a date, yes. Were the tables and chairs comfortable, ummmm next question.
I thoroughly enjoyed my dining experience. The staff was extremely welcoming, from the complimentary valet, to the hostesses, to the server. As you walk through the restaurant, each staff member greets you with a pleasant smile. Extensive wine menu, but the server was very helpful and knowledgeable about what is offered. Food was plentiful and we left FULL. Great value for your money. Ambiance was very intimate and calm. I received a complimentary gelato for my birthday, and the server handed me a birthday card at the end of the night that had been personally signed by the staff! That left a terrific impression and made my evening even more special! Would highly recommend.
My husband and I went to Vivace for our 1 year wedding anniversary. This was our 2nd time there; we visited a year prior after recently getting married. The food and staff was wonderful. We love there Brussels sprouts!!! They are a must order!!! I was just sad to see they took the short ribs pasta off the menu; it was fantastic last year! The staff was sweet enough to give us a hand signed anniversary card. Vicace will definitely be our new anniversary tradition!
Great spot for Sunday brunch. Bottomless mimosas and Bloody Mary's are ok but my Bloody Mary tasted like it was straight tomato juice. Caesar salad with grilled shrimp was very flavorful but chicken in chicken and biscuit dish was very dry and gravy was lumpy and tasteless; also "biscuit" was more like a piece of pound cake. It was a beautiful afternoon so we sat outside so the setting was better than the food.
Inside there was a birthday party going on so it was LOUD. We had to sit outside since just walking through a short distance made my ears ring. Shame I didn't really get to see the interior as a result. Outside was lovely and we had a fantastic server who was extremely attentive, helpful, and pleasant. The particular food items we chose sadly left a lot to be desired. I've wined and dined at the most expensive places you can find all the way down to the hidden gem hole in the wall places. It was simply too bland for all the excitement you get reading from the menu. The menu promises vivid and new, exciting flavor combinations but the dishes themselves simply fell flat and were dissapointing. Presentation was still good, however and the wine list is excellent along with very knowledgable servers if you need guidance. Certainly not a place to go if you plan to keep a dinner for two under 80-100$. Conclusion: Unless I want to merely enjoy some good wine, I don't think I will be back again until they improve the food.
We were there on a Monday night and the place was rather quiet, but that suited us just fine. Professional, personalized attention from the wait staff without it being obtrusive. Food was excellent: calamari, Caesar salad (authentically done with anchovy but on the crouton--very nice), exceptional scallops on celeriac puree and ribeye.
Four of us dined on a perfect, balmy evening on the terrace at Vivaci -- much nicer (for our taste) than inside where noise was uncomfortable and temperature was too cool. The menu was creative and offered just enough options for a good variety. Food was excellent. We thought the wine was a bit pricey, but must admit the recommended choice perfectly complemented our entrees. We look forward to another visit in the not too distant future.
We have been here several times before. We were a party of 6. We started with a round of drinks in bar area. Drinks were good. The decor and design of the bar was not really appealing. On to our dinner. All the food served was very flavorful and nicely presented. Service was disappointing. It began with our wine order of glasses of a red wine Sangiovese. A Chardonnay was delivered. We had to ask for bread. Our dessert crostini has to be redone as the first attempt burned. We were notified of that but it became awkward as other members of our party had finished their desserts while we waited at least 15 minutes for ours to arrive. Prior to this visit we had had an issue with service. It rushing back to Vivace.
Staff was talking about their personal lives right by our table while rolling silverware which made it a very uncomfortable dining experience. They also didn't bring the food out together I sat with my food for 5 mins waiting on my dates food to be delivered to the table. Food was "ok" would not recommend unless you were just getting drinks.
