Vivace - Charlotte
I can’t really review much. The floor was so dirty and sticky, the booth seat ripped (not a huge deal) then I went to move my bread plate and it was dirty. Had food on it. At that point we walked out never to return. Gross.
The place is beat up, torn seating and gouges out of tables, everything is sticky including beat up menus and smells like cleaning solution,a few foggy windows with bad seals. The food has good flavor but chef can not cook protein, over cooked scallops and tough shrimp that was hard to pull tails off.The place has a nightclub feel rather than fine dining.
Vivace is classy, brunch, and welcoming! The service was amazing and the food followed suit. I can’t wait to go back and enjoy a meal with friends!
Went for their Sunday brunch, great selection of Italian favorites as well as some more traditional American fare.
Food was delicious but the service was awful - entrees not brought out together, frittata was cold and drinks (waters, coffee and mimosas) went unfilled for several minutes. At one point no one at our table had a beverage.
Half cooked chicken, kale salad was absolutely terrible, and the service was extremely poor. What a waste of a “high end restaurant”.
The restaurant is showing its age. Some banquette seats are torn open. My food was very mediocre. We will not go back to a restaurant that was one of our favorites.
Service was very slow. Waiter did not come to our table until 10 minutes after we were seated. Drink order was not served until we had been there about a half hour. Two of our 4 drinks were returned because tonic was flat. I ordered halibut which was overcooked to the extent it was dry and tasteless.
First time visit. Table was super wobbly; told the server and he apologized but did nothing about it. Ticket times were lengthy despite not being busy. Food was good except for my son’s pizza. It was undercooked and still doughy in the middle. The wine we chose was excellent... wish I wrote down the name. All in all, average experience.
First time diners at Vivace. Great food and service. Chef came out to make sure our dinner was up to expectations. We will be back soon.
The welcome and service were uncaring. One of our orders came very late without an apology. It tasted awful. We asked for one more Mimosa ador a total of 3 and were charged for five. I had to request an itemized bill. We won’t be back.
Food was good. Service was great.
The ambiance was tired - our table had a huge scratch on it and the seat was ripped. The server was overwhelmed and neglected us. The appetizer came before our drinks and the bread came after the appetizer. The Brussels Sprout appetizer was good, as was the duck risotto, but the gluten free pizza was from a frozen crust and lacked texture.
This place needs a good cleaning and some kitchen management. We waited an hour to get our food in a restaurant that was not full. Food was not that great and establishment needs a really good cleaning. I would not go back.
It took over an hour to get our food from the limited brunch menu. Never a word from a manager to explain or apologize. Drinks were on special, but very slow to arrive to the table. The food is moderately priced and tasty, but the whole experience was over shadowed by the slow food and drink service. The restaurant was loud and the table was flimsy and rocked every time it was touched. The bathrooms were unkept. I can see lots of potential for this to be a great place, but they are missing the details that make it an enjoyable experience. Servers were standing around when they could have been tidying the restrooms or watering the dead plants by the entrance.
Father's Day. Great menu, great servers, kitchen that could not keep up with the orders. 30 minutes from order to service. The food was absolutely delicious, the server was perfect, and it was a great event. Perhaps they should spend more time on production?
We can say we have been there, but will not rush back. Food was just ok, service was spotty and the staff was noisier than the guests. $2.00 Bloody Mary was good, tho.
Birthday dinner. Good food!
Food was delicious. Waitress was wonderful very knowledgeable i believe her name was Sherise
Several large tablets made for loud conversations. Moved to a booth from middle of floor to minimize congestion and noise.
Appetizers were great! Main food was ok. Not sure what else to say, waitress was sweet, surrounding terrible, I wasn’t aware I was going to an oversized strip mall.
We're ordered one of the newer menu items, the crab rsvioli, and it was great. Service was informative and entertaining.
Super empty at lunch, felt like a bar on a Sunday morning after a big night. Bathrooms weren't clean, just seems to have really gone down hill. The food was good.
Brunch was amazing. Service was okay and drinks were great. Reasonably priced for quality and atmosphere.
The place was beautiful but overrated. Brunch was okay.
I’ve been to Vivace a handful of times on both special occasion and casual brunch. Our server Ariel was excited to show off the new menu and was very proud that all sauces, pasta, and doughs were made in house with all ingredients sourced local. Having been several times, I can’t even say now why Vivace was never really memorable - I knew it was very good but for some reason it just wasn’t on my absolute top lists for Italian I’m Charlotte. I don’t immediately recall the executive chef’s name, just that Ariel mentioned he was relatively newer to that post and that he really poured his heart and vision into every dish. DAMN, was she right. Our party enjoyed Caesar salad, burrata, field green salad, the Alaskan halibut (which was always our favorite special and excited to see on the full menu, Bolognese pasta, roasted salmon, and the fusilli vodka. Gluten free options were plenty and all but ONE of the above dishes mentioned were completely cleaned plates. I would bathe in the vodka sauce it was that good. We also enjoyed the gelato (chocolate, espresso, and wickedly but awesomely salted caramel), tiramisu (which is now the best I’ve ever enjoyed), and the orange cheesecake that was basically a high class orange creamsicle. We also enjoyed classics like Old Fashioned and Dirty Martini while I loved the Uber refreshing lemon Italian Mojito (enjoying a few of those on their awesome patio overlooking the greenway and cityscape is definitely in my future), and a wine that Ariel perfectly paired to my dad’s pasta dish. Overall, just a beyond exceeding expectations dinner with fabulous, down to earth service and food too good to put into words. Vivace was always underrated, but they have outdone themselves with the new menu and new chef. KUDOS and welcome to one of my top restaurant experiences in Charlotte list.
Went for lunch for the first time and had the chicken solblanca (or whatever it is) panini. It was good, brunch has always been so good, not sure it can live up to that for other meals
First time eating here and it definitely exceeded my expectations! Service was excellent, food arrived promptly but we didn’t feel rushed, and the foot itself was quite good.
They just rolled out their summer menu which included roasted halibut over corn purée. I highly recommend. Also notable was the burrata appetizer and the arugula salad.
Would have liked to experience dining outside but it was just a little too hot.
Great meal and will definitely return!
Everything was great! The food, service, and ambiance were amazing!
My chicken was raw on one side. They did their best to make it up to me but my appetite was gone after chewing on the raw chicken. The service was good and brunch drink specials were good.
We got there 10 minutes early, and the host says they were experiencing a “ brunch hangover” so we said no problem we will wait at the bar . Well the 2 bartenders were in a days, the one male lost “ something “ that the two just had to keep searching for instead of getting us drinks . Finally time for drinks my wife orders a rose and gets Prosecco and I order a craft beer which he gives me just the can.. No as he’s back to looking for whatever he lost , he just keep running he’s hand threw he’s hair to keep it slicked back and not washing he’s hands , that’s nasty. My wife points out how dirty the place is, so now I tell the host we are going outside to eat so we wouldn’t have to wait any longer ( this 30 minutes after our reservation) and he tells me no problem , tell the bartenders and they wait on you .. I’m thinking O NO, but we do it anyway , they told us to go on out there and they will get to us. We sat there watched him come out a few times , never came by so we looked at each other and said time to go.. It was mother’s day but this was at 6 o’clock brunch is way done it’s dinner time , Vivace needs a big management change or a manager that would be there to hustle and help the staff! Menu looked good to bad I’ll never be able try it, because I don’t see a reason to go back. One more thing the music was loud , and you had kids in there that were louder!
Furnings look worn, noise level is high, staff is what you would expect at a fast food service vs higher end dining. Food was good, not exceptional. Good for everyday dining, especially for a younger crowd, not my favorite choice for a special occasion.
When I made reservation I requested a booth as my elderly mother just had back surgery and a booth is more comfortable. We didn’t get a booth but got a horrible table that had a curtain behind it and every wait staff member kept walking behind us. It was so annoying. The food was not hot nor did they know how to make a garlic and olive oil for the pasta. It was 3 noodles swimming in oil, no roasted garlic and they wanted to charge 25.00 for it! The service started out great and then mid way, never saw our server or her assistant again. The manager was very nice and assisted us. She said she would take the pasta off the bill as we have it back, but waitress delivered the bill with it on there. I hate that! It was disappointing as it was our first time there and had heard such great things about it.....
I went for mothers day brunch with my family and our food was delicious.
LOVE this very trendy eatery! I brought my mom here for a “Mother’s Day” brunch. Vivace has the BEST brunch menu I’ve ever experienced. It has a pretty extensive cross-section of “breakfast” and “lunch” items, and it’s all moderately priced. Everyone in my party of 3 throughly enjoyed their meal. And, the folks at the front desk were very flexible and courteous, as we had to change our reservation time a few times ;)
As a point of constructive criticism, we did have to wait quite a while, once we were seated, for a server to come over and acknowledge us. We later learned that was because our hard-working and very friendly/caring server was also the hard-working bartender. The restaurant, in my opinion, was understaffed for such a particularly busy Saturday, as there were also several gradation party’s dining.
Overall, friendly staff, great ambiance, and superb food! We all loved Vivace and will definitely be back!!
2 years ago I proposed to my gf at vivace. This weekend we celebrated our two year wedding anniversary. When making the reservations I stated the occasion we were celebrating and asked if they could put something nice on the table for the lady. Flower, heart shaped towel, chocolate, wine! It could have been anything. But there was nothing. Very disappointing. I feel like I should have went with a different venue.
My daughter chose Vivace to celebrate her 16th birthday. We had 14 guests and the experience from start to finish was excellent. The selections at our table were everything from the osso bucco to pizza; everyone was happy with their choice. The service was impeccable with many thanks to Blythe, LeeAnn and Joseph!!
Our server, Leanne, was delightful and made sure we were well cared for and everything was perfect.
Seated immediately upon arriving, though took a while for waitress to come by the table. They were out of the quiche, which is one of the main reasons I wanted to try it. Ordered a frittata and it was somewhat bland. My girlfriends shrimp and grits were bland as well and requires a bit of salt to liven it up. Overall was disappointed l, yet the place itself is in a great location and is very nice.
Lovely setting. Great for meeting new people, having great conversations, and great drinks.
