Always are go to ppacey
Our food and service was terrific but the guitar player/singer made it so I couldnt hear the people across the table from me. I wish we were given a choice of seats since we were literally right in front of him. My parents are older (who were with us) and had a poor experience due to the music playing.
My friend and I have been coming to Viva for years....overall experience has been good.
However, last Friday was a disappointment...there was a singer who was another story, not much of a voice but worse was the volume of the music. We simply could not have a conversation we had to yet to be heard. We complained to the waiter (a couple of them) including the manager on sift, but made no difference. I don't even think they bothered to mention it to the singer.
we spent over $100 and left to sit outside by Whole Foods to carry a conversation.
the food value is good, however, our last value was a complete waste.
I will think twice to go there in the future.
We like Viva, but their Easter brunch was not very good. I would not recommend that, but their regular brunch is good.
It is Los Gatos so you will pay a premium but it is not up to the level of downtown Los Gatos restaurants or those in Saratoga. Basics are good like pizza and Pasta but items like the braised short ribs are dry and the rest of components do not mesh well. More of an upscale family diner than a restaurant commanding $30/plate.
Good place if it was $15-$20/plate at the most but at the menu prices I expected a bit more.
Get the feeling this is a great lunch and happy hour place or a place which can accommodate larger groups with ease.
We've dined at this restaurant on multiple occasions, for both Sunday brunch and dinner. Overall the food and service are very good.
The food was bland and lacked any creativity. The presentation was sloppy as was the service. The extra place settings were never removed, the waitress was reaching around and over our food to place or remove items from the table. Overall it was not terrible, but at these prices you would expect a little more care to service details and better tasting food.
A group of us co-hosted a birthday happy hour for two friends. The food was good, the service fair, the ambiance ok. The happy hour folks were placed in the back room and sometimes it was difficult to get the servers to come to our table of 8. They were busy taking care of regular patrons in the main dining area. That being said, Viva was generous about writing off 2 birthday desserts. Overall, dining at Viva was a nice experience.
Four of us out of 7 ordered the burger only 3 of us we given our burgers and the others were served their lunch salads and soup and by the time we were about half way thru our meals the
persons burger arrived. Her burger was suppose to be med rare while the other three were medium .
I would have thought she should have been served first. But as I said it was so late and grilled onions were not completely grilled and her sweet potato fries were over fried So dissatisfied
They had not set table for ten even though reservation was on their books. Restaurant had few diners fro Sunday brunch so the was simply inattention. The food was not prepared properly - for example, French Toast was burned on one side (facing down to plate to cover the the burnt side. Some entrees were warm rather than hot.
The service staff were great but they were understaffed. There was only one hostess on a busy Saturday night. She was working hard but we had to wait 15 minutes to be seated at a 2 top that was available when we arrived. Our server was great but she had too many tables and therefore service was very slow. Our 2 top was way too close to the 2 tops on both sides of us. One woman, who was being seated at the 2 top next to us, was wearing a big winter jacket which brushed our table and almost knocked over our dish with olive oil in it.
Primerib tough. Not as expected
Great service!!! Good food. Thanks.
Viva is good and usually has available. Enjoyed the food, but think the prices are little high./
They accommodated our needs well, great food and Stacy was an excellent waitress!
Outstanding selection, service and dining experience. Excellent food. Staff was hospitable and knowledgeable.
We've been here many times and the food and service are always the best. We'll be back again.
We were unfortunate in our scheduling that there was another larger event in another part of the restaurant. The chairs at our table were folding chairs, which didn't even appear to be the right height. We worked with the hostess to fix this issue, and all was well. We had a lovely meal with two other couples.
Good experience overall sat in one of the banquet rooms and the carpet was dirty. I don't particularly like the banquet rooms but seems they always seat us there. Bisque soup was good. Steaks were good and rare. Horseradish was very bland and underspiced as if we were dining in an old folks home. Desert was fantastic as was the service! We enjoy the food and great beer. Food for the most part was good. A couple of hiccups.
I liked it. My wife was good with our choice for date night.
The ambience was good as was the food. I think our server may have been new, but he was pleasant. We could have a conversation- sometimes restaurants are so loud that we can’t hear each other! The wait time, even with a reservation, was 25 min.
Food was good, except wife ordered seafood salad with avocado, didn’t come with any had to ask. My prime rib was good, except asked waiter for some horseradish, never got any. Drinks ordered and did not get any until half way thru meal. Overall, for the price, service was spotty at best, food was prepared well, but the lousy service really brought down overall experience.
In general, Viva service and food is reliably good, but this was Valentines Day. Service was slow, prime rib seemed like it had been sitting.
Probably would not recommend on a busy holiday. They seemed to get a bit overwhelmed. Otherwise, it’s one of our go-to places.
Viva offers a nice variety of apps, small plates, salads and main courses. Salads can be mains as well. Great bar scene. Dependable service and always willing to go the distance to make your dining a pleasure.
Loved it. Great birthday party
Here for a birthday lunch. Our food order was incorrect and the salad greens were not fresh.
Food was delicious! Nice wine selection, too. Our waiter was genial, but not as attentive to our table as we would have liked -- wine and water glasses were empty too often, too long.
We walked into an extremely noisy restaurant due to a singer with his settings too high. We were shown to a padded booth which helped but then we were forgotten! Finally snagged a waiter and got the process started. Had to continually ask for water. No one really paid attention which was disappointing.
We had not eaten here for about five years and there is really no reason for us to return.
Love it! Our go to spot!
Great food, good prices, nice wines, normally quiet outdoor dining option.
Went for lunch, good food, good service. Could use a larger menu selection
Food was very good. Not enough wait staff took a long time to order. Food also took awhile
We had a delicious lunch! Crab cakes were yummy. Service was excellent
Horrible service, lackluster food, pricey, bar too close to diners. Dusty lights above my food.
I went in to meet a friend here. As we entered, the restaurant felt really nice. Decor was elegant. Tables were draped in linen, with napkins and all! The staff was polite and courteous. Warm bread with oil and vinegar was a nice touch. The actual food unfortunately was disappointing. The portions were fairly decent. We ordered a salad and sandwich to be shared, they even split it for us. Beet Salad was alright, Veggie sandwich was not, way too much eggplant, not even cooked properly, pretty much no taste at all. I might give it another try, but I'd be hesitant in recommending to others after my first experience.
Great food but the service was poor. Seemed like they are under staffed. Brought the wrong entree, and then took 20+ minutes to bring the right one.
Food selection was outstanding. The sweet potato fries were fresh and delicious. And our entrees were excellent. Along with the staff being hospitable our dining experience was great.
We sat outside so we could talk quietly but still hear the live music inside. It was perfect. Our server realized my date and I wanted to talk more than anything else, so he left us alone most of the time yet was responsive when needed, including closing out the check. Well done.
Table lay out Left no room for servers to pass without hitting me. Server didn’t know menu or differences of the pastas offered. Service was terrible as server was assigned tables in several rooms and outside tables.
The noise level was so high you couldn’t talk. The server couldn’t hear our order.
The final issue is a band showed up at 7:00. Their AMPs where set for stadium use.
Several parties left due to the noise. It hurt my ears.
Love this neighborhood gem. Staff are always friendly and helpful, and food is predictably creative and yummy!
Very busy on Christmas
