Vito's By the Water Ratings and Reviews
We had a great meal the food was very good! However our server did not seem to enjoy his job. We have had Lisa and Brittany in the past and they are wonderful- so be sure to ask for them for your server-they make the dinning experience enjoyable. It was a bit disappointing to have a server that did not check on us or engage in with our party. We will be back, but will ask not to have this server.. Pasta dishes and 8oz filet were so good!
Absolutely super meal and service. Some of the best calamari we have ever had. Ordered pasta with mussels and shrimp; portion size was perfect and tasted great. The wife had pasta and sauce which was also top notch. We live 60 miles away though plan on coming back as the food is worth the trip
When we arrived at the restaurant at 6 pm, there were no customers. The seat by the pond was provided a lovely view and our wait staffer was wonderful and attentive. However, we were promptly informed that there was no pizza due to oven failure. The calamari was excellent as was the chicken parmigiana. The shrimp and grits was unusual as it was covered in tomato sauce but it did have plenty of shrimp. For dessert, we ordered the cheesecake. After waiting, we were told they were out of cheesecake. My friend then ordered the cannoli. It turned out to be a cannoli shell filled with whipped cream and drizzled with chocolate sauce. We were the only ones in the restaurant the whole time we were there. The location is great, the decor is great, the wait staff was pleasant, but the food needs work. Not a place to return to.
Food was good. Not large quantity. Kitchen screwed up by not telling us until 45 minutes after we order one dish that they were out of it. Very disappointing. Took another 20 minutes for seared scallops and spinach. First time there. Hope they do better next time.
If you find yourself in Windsor, CT for business, or live in the area, this is a very respectable Italian restaurant. The overall quality of the food was very good. The waitstaff is attentive and helpful; I am a dairy-free diner, and the waitress guided me to good options! My colleague had the chicken gorgonzola pizza, and I had the roasted chicken entree-- both were excellent. I also had the mussels for an appetizer--they were delicious. The house-made bread is a nice touch. My only somewhat negative comment would be that the portions (not the pizza) are a bit on the small side, esp. the mussels. We did not have dessert--cocktails were excellent.
Food was decent.
Service was decent.
I ordered a Caesar salad with grilled chicken, they were other add-on choices, e.g. steak, shrimp and blackened chicken but no scallops. The salad was large enough for lunch, didn't need the additional app as suggested by the waitress. The app was their "famous" meatballs. Not sure why they're famous, they were mediocre.
Didn't have any drinks or wine so I can't comment on that but they did appear to have a good selections of drafts. The bar looked inviting too.
To start, it was annoying to walk through 4 people smoking to enter the restaurant. I know that is beyond control. The bread and salads were excellent. Food service was slow. Luckily we were not in a rush. Main course was ok. Marinara and brown sauce were not very robust. Prices were a bit high, but that may be because of rent. Nice views of the pond from all seats. The bar and whole restaurant were very loud due to acoustics in the design of the building. So for ambiance, it is a toss between nice setting but loud. Dessert was good. Tiramisu is ok.
Very attentive service
Noise from the bar spillover was very loud
Pizza had a good light chewy crust lacking flavor/spices
Chicken parm was good but again the sauce was very bland
Caprese salad had sad small tomatoes mozz was good basil was fresh but not much
Prosciutto mozz was Very greasy
My friend and I decided to meet for lunch at a location to both of us and chose Vito's by the Water. I had been to Vito's several times with my nearby customers but this was the first time I've been with a friend. We were able to sit at an outside table, had great lunch salads, great service and a relaxing view of the water.
We hadn't been to Vito's by the Water for quite and while and decided to go with friends. All of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals and will be going back again soon. Salads (garden or Caesar) were very good and large enough to share. The shrimp and gorgonzola pizza was very tasty.
As always the food and service was great. Never had a bad meal here. They have updated the outside with fresh landscaping and cleaned up outside.. could use a fresh coat of paint and update on inside. But do not let that deter you... the food is delish. And staff is always so helpful and accommodating.
I would recommend this restaurant if you are ok with small portions and high prices. The food was delicious. I had perfectly cooked Salmon with a lobster sauce that was very good. My issue is that the Salmon was served on top of a tiny bed of roasted vegetables. I was still hungry when I finished. I also ordered a side salad as a starter. The salad was very fresh but it was served with very little dressing. Dinner cost me over $50 with no alcohol. This would have been a better value if the entree included the cost of the salad. I don't think I will visit here again. My friend was dissatisfied also with the cost. No issues with the quality of the food or service.
It was a rainy night but we had a nice seat by the window. Sorry to say the man at the table next to us was quite vociferous and it was hard to concentrate on our own conversation. The window view was really nice along the water. I think our waiter was too busy. It took 20 minutes to find out the wine we wanted was not available and we already had received our appetizer............
First off and most importantly the food was awesome!! I would definitely return again just for the food. Also, compliments to the manager who heard our service issues and went out of her way to address them and to compensate us. I'm going to guess that our service issues were an anomaly and not the norm.
Cute location, not a huge menu but certainly something for everyone. Chocolate Truffle Pasta Bolognese was interesting and tasty - we split it as a pasta course before the entrees.
Even with the significant service issues we still had a great time and would return.
Our waitress was amazing! She was forthcoming with our off the menu special requests and knowledgeable of the full menu. We very much enjoyed our visit. The Meditteranean salad with grilled shrimp was very good - my friend did not think the same of her chicken fettuccini
My husband was meeting me for lunch and since he had never been to Vito's, which is not too far from my office, I made a reservation. We liked it; everything was good overall but nothing spectacular. (We had the calamari appetizer. He had a burger and I had a salad with salmon. The food was very good). He commented that he would prefer going elsewhere when he's in the area. The view in the dining room is nice though and I'm sure it'd be a great sight in the fall. (I had been there a couple of times before for lunch with co-workers and we enjoyed it). I think it would be a good spot for happy hour.
We went to Vito's for Easter dinner. Each course was very good and we enjoyed the tasty menu. However, with 4 choices for main course - they had run out of one - the one I ordered. Not too big a deal. The restaurant was very busy and likely had been all day. And it showed. The floors were a mess food all over. Our server (Nick) pushed us to order all of our courses at once in addition to drinks and dessert. No leisure time. He was also very hyper and made us anxious. He was zooming all over the place. He only came to check on us once and said, "the food is great, right?" - and promptly sped away from the table. No opening there for us to give any feedback. The atmosphere here is so dark - paint colors, lack of lighting, very closed floor plan. etc. Kind of depressing actually. The food is good so we may come back for an outdoor meal at some point. But won't go out of our way and we only live 5 minutes away.
The Special Easter Dinner was very good. All the courses were delicious. The portions were very generous. The atmosphere was relaxing. However, the service for this particular occasion was not as good as it usually is at Vito's. The service was slow and did not deserve an automatic 20% gratuity.
