Our waiter was attentive when we first arrived, however, once he had delivered our drinks and we asked for a little more time to order, he disappeared. We had to ask a bus boy to find him. It was too noisy in the room whee we were. The back is more quiet. I should have asked for a table there.
Very nice CLASSIC Italian restaurant. Went for Mother's Day so that impacted the experience. They added tables so it was crowded and it was quite loud. We felt rushed by the waiter who was otherwise fine. Appetizers and dessert were best and the main course was fine, but nothing to rave about.
Our waiter was not really very good. He initially pushy to get orders and then was not very attentive...don’t think we’d go back there
Amazing service excellent food!! We are never disappointed when we eat at Vito’s
Food and service great. Fabulous old school upscale Italian restaurant.
First time back in many years. Food was good. Asked for quiet table but I don't think they exist. Very hard to hear, especially hearing impaired patrons. Pricey too.
the food is great, prompt service, staff attentive,
Ive been going to Vitos for 15+ years, maybe more... Waiters are the best...food is always good, but this last time the veal marsala meat was so thin, it was more of a shaved lunch meat... Come on vitos, thats beneath you... Tasted great as usual but was more of an appetizer quantity, not dinner... Had to pick up a thai entre on the way home...
The food could be better. Barcode sticker was not removed from vinegar
My guest arrive before my husband and I. The original seats were inside but cramped. We were relocated outside to the patio area, which had more room. It was a nice day in Santa Monica. The customer service was excellent. The waiter and staff were very attentive. The waiter had a great sense of humor. Everything was perfect for my husband 65th birthday. My friends really enjoyed themselves and said they would return. They were very impressed. I have one friend who is usually particular with her food, even at the restaurant she pick for her and her husband birthday and anniversary. She did not return her food. I was shocked. This was great.
We have been going to Vito for years and still consider it to be one of the finest Italian restaurants in Southern California. The staff is friendly and most of the waiters have been there for years.
Great ambience & service Edith food reminiscent of my stay in Italy years ago. Perfect for date nights!
FOOD IS ALWAYS GOOD BUT SERVICE COULD BE MORE ATTENTIVE.
One of our very favorite places. The service is amazing and the food is delicious! The noise level allows conversation. We love it!!!
The food was good but not excellent. It was nice that the dishes were individually prepared and food/ingredient preferences could be accommodated. We specifically requested a quiet table. Thiis request was ignored as we were seated in a very noisy room. There was a nearby customer who was on his cellphone all during our dinner. His speaker was on loud during his conversations. The restaurant personel could have asked him to use his cell phone outside the dining room but didn’t. It ruined our dining experience.
The room I was seated in has a very stale smell - perhaps carpet is old and needs changing but the smell was very noticeable. I won't sit in that room again but I will be back to Vito's as the food is very good.
The food is good. However the portion of the veal is small for the price.
The service is not good despite the tuxedo wearing waiters. I would not recommend dining in. I think the service really brings down the experience of the place.
Vito is our neighborhood restaurant. We love going there. The food is fabulous and the ambiance is romantic. We usually have Hank as our waiter. He is terrific! Very knowledgeable about the menu, specials and wines. He is very interested in making sure that our dining experience at Vito is excellent. And it always is!
Dinner with great friends
I've eaten all over the world and in Italy. Vito's cast a long shadow as one of the best in the country.
The calamari was delicious. The salmon and sand dabs were superb.
Unfortunately this restaurant doesn't know how to treat its guests. The wait staff constantly interrupted the table during conversations, during toasts, intimate conversations, etc.. for the most marginal of issues, taking ones order or informing us of specials is one thing, but this went way beyond, When the food was brought out the runner did not know whose food belonged to who, our waiter was not in sight to guide him, so he shouted loudly at all of us to see what dish went were, it was amateurish. The food was not at all top quality, which if at least that was good we would give them another shot, but alas it was poor, I won't bore you with the small details about each dish, just stay away.
Dependable quality. Excellent service.
Dependable old style Italian with attentive tuxedoed waiters, and tableside Caesar salads. Warm, inviting g, comfortable. You feel like Frank and Dean-O will walk in any minute.
VITO is my favorite restaurant. Truly! The food is amazing, the service is personal and attentive, and everything is consistently great every time I go! Recommend highly.
Vito's has consistently good food at reasonable prices. The noise level is lower than average for similar restaurants in Los Angles and the waiters are friendly, accommodating and quick to inform, take orders, serve the food and provide your check when you ask for it.
Our dinner for four was delightful. Coming from NY City, we heard of Vito's from friends. The lamb was out of this world great. The veal and the linguini con vongole were wonderful. The salmon special was not all that special. The wait staff (in black tie) was most attentive yet not in your face. Although the restaurant was full (suggest reservations), the noise level was hushed. I would go back in a heart-beat if I lived in L.A.
I will return to Vito, but I would not go out of my way to dine there. The food is average. It was my FIRST time at Vito’s; and I am a resident of the Ocean Park area since 1996. I know the daughter is the owner of the restaurant La Vecchia on Main Street, and we are HUGE “La Vecchia” patrons. Huge! It may be a good time to get some culinary direction and fine-tune your recipes from La Vecchia. There are more things to try from the Vito menu, and as a result, our opinions are “to be continued.” FYI: Bread is huge part of Italian dining; please don’t serve that horrific baguette bread to appease the client. It is horrible. Stick with the bread you bake in-house, which is quite nice; and very similar to that of La Vecchia’s bread.
Wonderful authentic Italian food, great service by professional waiters. Greeted by owner. White tablecloths and RatPack era booths. Vito is a treasure - we will be back!
One our favorites. Just like a New York Italian restaurant! The food and service is the very best.
this is my third time and my guest and I are always very pleased. The only thing that wasn't perfect this time around were the cocktails we ordered. Both of ours were too sweet. We ordered a bottle of wine instead and they credited the two drinks. Thank you for the great food and service.
Amazing authentic Italian restaurant! The food was delicious the vibe was amazing and I would recommend this place to anyone!
I would highly recommend the restaurant. We had a party of eight and all of us were raving about our dinner and the excellent service . This was our third time visiting Vito’s and we plan to go again. The chefs special (veal portofino )was a true winner and the dessert portions were very generous.
Too expensive for the quality of the good. Service is excellent however
Always excellent food and outstanding service. Comfortable, solid and dependable. Where we go when we don't want to take risks and want to settle in for a wonderful meal and feel a bit spoiled. So grateful that some places like this still exist.
A unique, upscale dining experience on a Saturday night. Excellent service, the food was quite good. I feel the wine was too expensive by the glass for the quality that we had. It is a very "old school" place with white table cloths and servers in tuxedos. My only complaints are that the deserts weren't very good, and the quiet table we requested was literally 14 inches from the people next to us. However, overall, I'd recommend this place for at least one visit.
One of my favorites restaurants on Ocean Park Boulevard! Never a disappointment.
I'M A REGULAR AT VITO'S SO THEY ARE DOING SOMETHING RIGHT!
We dine at Vito's a couple of times a month, either with friends or just the two of us.
Great neighborhood gem. Good Italian comfort food, best Caesar Salad in LA, made table side.
Another nice feature, you can actually have a conversation & hear replies.
We enjoy Vito's, will always come back.
