Applause to Team Vitello's - Management opened the patio area for us Friday evening which was MUCH quieter and Jordan, who served us was stellar!
It’s a great place, but I just have a few thoughts. First, we asked to split a salad and it came to our table literally cut in two on a small plate. It was a mess. The kitchen should have placed each section on a different plate. Also, it was a wedge and we had asked for it to be chopped. It wasn’t. Also, we’ve never seen a kitchen appreciation gratuity before. It was a little off putting. The wine pouts are really small and because so I didn’t order more. After all was said and done dinner cost us $150 plus tip. We could have gone to Mastros for that. The food wasn’t as good as Mastros d sad o it was hard to compare that against the cost. It would nicer if the food and the wine pours were a little more reasonable.
Loved the ambiance. The salmon was the best I ever had. The waiter was a little hard to track down but was very pleasant. Overall wonderful experience.
Everything was delicious, as always, at Vitellos. It’s not cheap. Easy to spend $200 for shared plates & cocktails, because no brunch drink specials. Despite the hefty price tag, you never leave hungry or dissatisfied.
Went for birthday. Food was great. Took the kids. Family friendly.
Insistently old school American Italian and of good quality, if like that style of food. I had a first rate Mint Julep which is not something you'll find all the time in Los Angeles. Booths are small and cramped. The main room is pretty, with high ceilings but noticeably loud. A good piano singer was enjoyable but added to the noise level. Service is friendly, knowledgeable and attentive and the best part of the evening. Valet parking in a lot next door is worth the $6.
Very noisy and I dislike them adding fee for health insurance and/or kitchen staff It’s not right and I resent it. Tipping is enough and only when warranted
But overall nice to have dinner there.
Amazing food at an amazing price.... Beautiful location great atmosphere....
Amazing wait staff.......great tasting food
This neighborhood gem never fails. This specific reservation was for a larger dinner party for 11. They worked with me to find a night that would be most beneficial for our needs and we had a terrific meal with great service in the Liza Loft which was the perfect space for our party size. Management is always willing and professional. Service has been as consistent as the quality of their meals.
The food was fair at best. Our bar tender was excellent and the set was excellent. There are much better Italian food options in LA!
The food was great and service outstanding. Loved the plant-based menu!
Vegan friendly options available
Ambiance is welcoming and yet exciting
Pianist added to the great ambiance
I would have liked to give a 5 star rating but I found we had to look and call for our servers several times through the our meal
We don’t usually ask for much but the server’s absence was felt
When she did come by she was very present, welcoming, knowledgeable and patient
We plan to return to this venue in the near future
Even after having reservations, they were running behind however they apologized for the inconvenience and they offered us each a free glass of wine (a generous amount). Great customer service! I definitely will be back.
Overall a nice experience. We were just unlucky with our server.
Just a great restaurant
Restaurant was a bit overwhelmed for Valentines Day. Server was very friendly but seemed under supported. Dinner took a while to arrive (after other two surrounding tables who ordered after us. Steak ordered medium but delivered a bit overcooked. Looked like kept under lamp for a few too many minutes. Not a fan of asking for bread only to be charged $6! Also, experienced a very underwhelming bourbon pour. Thoughts were that restaurant wants to be grown up but comes across a bit snobby and too vested in profiting from my patronage.
Food was amazing. People around us seemed to be enjoying there food. Had live music and it was beautiful. I will definitely be coming back for the drinks they have as well
It was terrific meeting old friends for dinner at Vitello’s... it’s everything you love about a sophisticated urban Italian restaurant but none of the attitude!
I'm not sure that visually I like the minimalist tables in the front room, I think it would be possible to make it cozier looking but updated. Luckily though we got a booth, and our server and the food were very good! The drinks are great as well.
Fabulous place for food and soft music downstairs......music performances upstairs. Everything was terrific. Will return for sure.
Great service, food and ambiance! It was perfect
First time at Vitello's for lunch and the food was great as always, but the service was really sub-par. Server was nice enough but I'm guessing he was working alone because he'd disappear for long periods of time. Asked for sugar for coffee and he never came back, so I had to retrieve it myself. Had to ask for a refill later on coffee and water after empty cup and glasses were completely ignored. Simply not the level we've had at dinner service in the past.
It's a solid choice for brunch, though, as the food delivered. Three of the four in our party got the Huevos Rancheros and raved. I opted for linguine with clams that was very good.
We had reservation for six. It took an extra twenty minutes to be seated. The host sat us next to two parents with two young daughters who were running around both tables. The host walked away without asking us if the table was to our liking. There were other places in the restaurant if they tried. When the four of us received our meal, our meal was wrong. It was sent back as the other couple continued to enjoy their meal. When we did receive our meal, it was warm. Also, the person who served us our meal dropped of the plate and never asked if we wanted Parmesan Cheese. We had to stop a different waiter for that. We had thought we would have had a better experience since it was our first time there.
Definitely in my top list of restaurants for the Valley. The staff is amazingly attentive to accommodating you. They are precise with details of your order to make sure it is what you want. The ambience is striking, the location is easy access, Valet parking service offered, value galore in the portions you receive. I highly recommend this restaurant as I've not been disappointed in any food or beverage item I have eaten.
Someone recommended this restaurant so I thought it would be nice to celebrate my best friends engagement here. The server ruined the surprise. He was not very transparent and honest about the items on the menu and how they were prepared. Maybe he wasn’t knowledgeable. The food was horrible. My husband said it was the worst branzino he has ever had. The cauliflower was showered in garlic. The side of eggplant wasn’t even cooked. The server didn’t even care that we didn’t eat many of the items we ordered. I don’t mind paying for our meals but I do mind paying for nasty food. It was horrible. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.
I had an issue at first. When making this reservation here I was asked if I preferred outside our inside and I selected inside. I also mentioned it was my wife’s Bday. Upon arrival a couple mins before my reservation time we were seated outside. I specifically chose to dine at Vitello’s for her bday because of the atmosphere & live piano player inside & I specifically reserved the inside for a Romantic dinner for 2, but we were seated outside in the cold which is basically the sidewalk & pretty empty. It felt like where they stick walk ins who do not have a reservation. I asked if we could move inside and was told it’s a 25 minute wait but I had a reservation for inside! After saying that the hostess went in to check if there was anything inside and never came back but instead sent a server out to see us. We told the server we wanted to wait for something inside and so we had drinks on the sidewalk waiting in the cold for approximately 30-40 mins. As the servers go in and out they make sure to close the patio door so that the cold does not get in to their patrons dining inside and I felt like we were dogs left outside in the cold. Not exactly the special evening I had in mind. I did not make a big deal about it to not ruin our evening even more. We were eventually sat inside which is night and day difference if planing a romantic evening. Normally I don’t mind to sit outside on a regular day if I did not have reservations but this was a special occasion which I told them about prior to arrival. A man whom I assume was a manager came up to our table to thank us for our patients but that’s about all we got. They did provide a piece of cake on the house which I think they do for birthdays anyway, it would have been a nice gesture to comp our drinks we had while sitting outside waiting. Overall the food is really good, although seems like they are steering away from Italian but I do appreciate the vegan options.
We always enjoy Vitello’s...food is delicious, service very good, but if you want a quiet evening, this isn’t the place. Noise level, even for what we thought would be an early Sunday night dinner, was out of this world. We could barely hear one another speak.
We celebrated my husband's 60th birthday. The service was excellent. We arrived early, and were seated right away by the friendly hostess. Jordan was our amazing waiter. He was attentive and made sure we had our drinks and bread while we awaited the other guests. When they arrived he was right there to serve them as well. Jordan made the evening fun with his great personality, and his suggestions for food choices were superb! (However, I think everything here would be delicious!) I had the salmon which was excellent! I would highly recomment this place for a celebration or date night!
A nice quiet Italian place in North Hollywood/Studio City area. Great neighborhood for poking around and food better than average, though not as good as your Italian grandmother's cooking. One terrific thing is that there is a parking lot! Valet at night but open parking in day time.
For New Years Eve
First time here and we will be back! Food and service excellent!
Great service. The restaurant was very busy and the restaurant manager swung by our table to let us know the food would be out just a few minutes later. It didn’t take very long after his visit for our food to arrive, and the transparency was very much appreciated.
My wife and I enjoy Vitello’s but it is loud at times. We always try to get a booth in the back where it is much quieter. Food and service are excellent. They also have vegetarian/vegan options.
We celebrated a birthday and they set up our table in a special room. Everything was great!
We were a party of 6 and they would not give us separate checks. They did not tell us there was a charge for garlic bread. They charged $6.00 for four pieces of garlic bread. So our bill for 3 orders o garlic bread 12 pieces was 18 dollars. They charged $5.00 for splitting an order. Didn't tell us of the charge. There was a $5.50 charge for kitchen help, and a 20% tip was added to the bill. We definitely felt we were nickel and dime. We have eaten there many times, and this is our first bad experience. We will not be going back.
Great service and food was very good. Had the lasagna and arugula salad and tiramisu .
Vitello's is one of my family's favorite places. From the Rendition Room (which is super cool) to the main dining room with outdoor patio and live music its great for people watching in Studio City. Not to mention Feinstein's at Vitello's great shows. The new menu rocks and the service is always good. Pretty sure there are few other restaurants that offer what Vitello's does. After 50 years, though completely transformed, it remains a "go-to" staple of the area.
Love Vitello’s even going back before the remodel years ago. Great neighborhood favorite in a cute part of the Valley. Plus live entertainment and a nice open patio area.
