Service was very friendly and food was pretty good. Inquired about Robert Blake murder and got a good historical answer.
The food was delicious. I had the salmon. My date had the filet mignon. Kudos to the chef.
Definite area of opportunity was the decor of the restaurant. No character or ambiance but I also couldn’t see the whole place from my table. We had reservations for dinner and a reso for cocktails at the Rendition Room. The hostesses were my greatest disappointment. We told them that it was our first time. We waited to see if they could allow us to have dinner in the rendition room, the answer ended up no. We further waited for our dinner table, then they stuck us in a corner against a brick wall by the kitchen. We tried to stay positive. After dinner we asked the waitress to inform the hostess that we’re ready for our next reso. Again we waited…20 mins go by. The waitress never came by once, no hostess either. We had to get up, put on our coats, walk out to the front to ask the hostess what was going on. She said that she would’ve seated us at our reservation time which was 8p. Keep in mind it’s 756p at this point and she asked us to wait again. There was no communication with the customer, only waiting and waiting and waiting. We were there to have a nice date but we did not feel wanted. I won’t be back. Very disappointed.
Note: The Rendition Room saved our night. Scott and Ren were great. No one can be mad with Scott around. :)
Robert was an excellent waiter...very professional. Food was great. We started with the appetizer of shrimp and calamari and then had the tilapia on a bed of pasta and the bass with a rice. Both excellent. Nice bottle of chianti, too.
The food and ambiance was great, but the server was not very good. She barely paid any attention to us. She forgot to place our appetizer order, she did not bring any bread out. When our meal was served we asked again for bread and it was not brought out until the meal was almost finished (and after we asked two other servers). Our server never came by to check up on us till we were almost done eating. (she passed by us several times to go to and from the kitchen, but never looked at us and never spoke to us.) I also wanted to order dessert, but again, the server never came by to check on us and ask if we wanted to see a desert menu. I have dined at Vitello's many times and have always had a good experience until now. Such a shame.
French toast was burned on one side and the bacon was not well done as ordered. Overall disappointing but the wait staff was lovely.
Neither of us had ever been there before despite many years in the Valley. We went for a quiet birthday celebration on a Tuesday night and had a wonderful time. I am sure it is more crowded on a Friday or Saturday, but was perfect for an intimate dinner with a friend of many years. We both had an excellent time.
Everyone went above and beyond to please us from choosing the best table, the heat lamps, food, etc etc. perfect evening.
Fabulous! Been 3 times in a month!
Love the food and plant based options here. The veg meatballs are outstanding but could also use a slice of bread with it.
Great service and great food at lunch.
Delicious food. Great service.
I specifically asked to be seated in the main room and mentioned that we were coming to celebrate a birthday. When we got there. The hostess said they were fully booked and that seating preference is not guaranteed. What’s the point of making a reservation if you cannot be seated in the actual restaurant?
She put us into the corner of a large tent at a tiny cocktail round and said it was her favorite server’s section. There was not atmosphere and it was extremely loud. My BF, who works in film, felt like he was back at work eating under the tents that catering provides for the crew. After about 5 minutes of not being acknowledged, I went back up and asked to be moved. We were finally taken to the booth in the way back of the restaurant by the restrooms. Still not the area where I requested, but so much better than the vapid catering tent. Once our server realized we were there, the rest of the evening was lovely.
Great neighborhood restaurant. Loving the outdoor space.
Waiter while attentive didn’t listen to our needs. One person asked if an appetizer was spicy and waiter said no. Dish had spicy red peppers. We ordered a child portion of pasta with plain tomato Sauce. They put a spicy red sauce which had to be returned. My chicken was difficult to cut and the vegetables cold.
Our waiter was hard to find but another waiter jumped in to help.
The wine pour was thimble like.
Overall not a good experience.
This was for a Business meeting - Waitress was excellent, all staff were very supportive and allowed us all time we needed for our meeting and for wonderful dinner- outstanding specials!
Thanks for all the plant based options!!!
it was absolutely perfect ,we go there all the time and the quality of the food is always the same.
Fabulous! It’s been a long time since we’d been here and it was better than ever! Will be back soon!
Food was great, service started well but we lost our server for a period of time so had to wait for water, check, etc. but overall very nice.
Horrible service, cold food! I just could believe they poor service offered. I could have and should have stayed home!
This place has been around in LA forever and we thought we'd give it a try. We were not impressed. The food is OK, the setting is nice, but the general service, from the manager on down was pretty lame. LA can do better.
Zucchini soup was nice. We had the eggplant dish, it was ok, didn't feel very fresh and needed more seasoning. Also ordered a Margherita pizza which was ok, nothing to write home about. The Tiramisu was amazing tho!!! Nice service too.
Customer service, food and wine lacking. Wouldn’t recommend, nor a very welcoming environment.
My return from abroad
Chicken Marsala and Linguini with Clams were big wins! Great double date night.
Hard to review because outdoor seating is hard for restaurants
It’s just a Kmart d to eat now
Waiters are sparse and the hostess was the WORST!
Outdoor dining was empty so we asked for the table for four right in front of us
We were four people
She said it was a table for two
Obviously it was for four a d would have to be pulled apart for two
It was clear she didn’t want to have to set it up
We left at 6.15 and still on oneelse had wanted those tables
Ambiance is great and we were not rushed at all. Servers were nice and helpful. But the food is over-priced and not that special, kind of bland and unimaginative.
Inside the music was too loud. The good was good, however, the presentation of the dishes was really mediocre. No effort was made to make the dish look good. The meat comes alone on a big plate. Not appealing at all.
Great food. Great service. We would definitely recommend it.
A bit of a hidden gem for folks near Studio City. I understand why Vitello’s is a go-to, and has been for two generations. I wish the food had been more special. Our server, Robert is a seasoned professional and cared well for our slightly silly, moderately rowdy group of middle-aged friends who’d not dined together in a very long time. My inclination is to make Vitello’s a date night staple!
Food was not what was expected . Tasted like the garlic was burnt
Loved every bite. From the Branzino to the Eggplant Fantastic!
Solid food and great service - hit the Rendition room afterwards where the ever entertaining Scott took very good care of us
They vegan pizza and willing to make many adjustments to any menu item
Very friendly. Good service. Arabiatta was delicious.
Celebrated my bday last night!
We ate outside under the tent, it was safe and wonderful
Very good rancheros and benes, accompanied by refreshing bellinis. Nice Sunday brunch experience.
Every time I have eaten here I'm just dying to ask the owner to let me in the kitchen and make some tweaks. The food is not good a few steps up from Olive Garden. And so over priced for what it is.
The meatballs were so hard I had to use my knife to cut them. My meatballs melt in your mouth. My husband had the spinach and cheese ravioli with pesto sauce. Tehy were $22.00 for 6! ANd they weren't even homemade.
Vitellos is great if you want pizza, salad and a decent glass of wine.
If it wsn't for our server Charlie, the night would have sucked. He was sweet, attentive funny and engaging.
