Someone recommended this restaurant so I thought it would be nice to celebrate my best friends engagement here. The server ruined the surprise. He was not very transparent and honest about the items on the menu and how they were prepared. Maybe he wasn’t knowledgeable. The food was horrible. My husband said it was the worst branzino he has ever had. The cauliflower was showered in garlic. The side of eggplant wasn’t even cooked. The server didn’t even care that we didn’t eat many of the items we ordered. I don’t mind paying for our meals but I do mind paying for nasty food. It was horrible. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.
I had an issue at first. When making this reservation here I was asked if I preferred outside our inside and I selected inside. I also mentioned it was my wife’s Bday. Upon arrival a couple mins before my reservation time we were seated outside. I specifically chose to dine at Vitello’s for her bday because of the atmosphere & live piano player inside & I specifically reserved the inside for a Romantic dinner for 2, but we were seated outside in the cold which is basically the sidewalk & pretty empty. It felt like where they stick walk ins who do not have a reservation. I asked if we could move inside and was told it’s a 25 minute wait but I had a reservation for inside! After saying that the hostess went in to check if there was anything inside and never came back but instead sent a server out to see us. We told the server we wanted to wait for something inside and so we had drinks on the sidewalk waiting in the cold for approximately 30-40 mins. As the servers go in and out they make sure to close the patio door so that the cold does not get in to their patrons dining inside and I felt like we were dogs left outside in the cold. Not exactly the special evening I had in mind. I did not make a big deal about it to not ruin our evening even more. We were eventually sat inside which is night and day difference if planing a romantic evening. Normally I don’t mind to sit outside on a regular day if I did not have reservations but this was a special occasion which I told them about prior to arrival. A man whom I assume was a manager came up to our table to thank us for our patients but that’s about all we got. They did provide a piece of cake on the house which I think they do for birthdays anyway, it would have been a nice gesture to comp our drinks we had while sitting outside waiting. Overall the food is really good, although seems like they are steering away from Italian but I do appreciate the vegan options.
We always enjoy Vitello’s...food is delicious, service very good, but if you want a quiet evening, this isn’t the place. Noise level, even for what we thought would be an early Sunday night dinner, was out of this world. We could barely hear one another speak.
We celebrated my husband's 60th birthday. The service was excellent. We arrived early, and were seated right away by the friendly hostess. Jordan was our amazing waiter. He was attentive and made sure we had our drinks and bread while we awaited the other guests. When they arrived he was right there to serve them as well. Jordan made the evening fun with his great personality, and his suggestions for food choices were superb! (However, I think everything here would be delicious!) I had the salmon which was excellent! I would highly recomment this place for a celebration or date night!
A nice quiet Italian place in North Hollywood/Studio City area. Great neighborhood for poking around and food better than average, though not as good as your Italian grandmother's cooking. One terrific thing is that there is a parking lot! Valet at night but open parking in day time.
For New Years Eve
First time here and we will be back! Food and service excellent!
Great service. The restaurant was very busy and the restaurant manager swung by our table to let us know the food would be out just a few minutes later. It didn’t take very long after his visit for our food to arrive, and the transparency was very much appreciated.
My wife and I enjoy Vitello’s but it is loud at times. We always try to get a booth in the back where it is much quieter. Food and service are excellent. They also have vegetarian/vegan options.
We celebrated a birthday and they set up our table in a special room. Everything was great!
We were a party of 6 and they would not give us separate checks. They did not tell us there was a charge for garlic bread. They charged $6.00 for four pieces of garlic bread. So our bill for 3 orders o garlic bread 12 pieces was 18 dollars. They charged $5.00 for splitting an order. Didn't tell us of the charge. There was a $5.50 charge for kitchen help, and a 20% tip was added to the bill. We definitely felt we were nickel and dime. We have eaten there many times, and this is our first bad experience. We will not be going back.
Great service and food was very good. Had the lasagna and arugula salad and tiramisu .
Vitello's is one of my family's favorite places. From the Rendition Room (which is super cool) to the main dining room with outdoor patio and live music its great for people watching in Studio City. Not to mention Feinstein's at Vitello's great shows. The new menu rocks and the service is always good. Pretty sure there are few other restaurants that offer what Vitello's does. After 50 years, though completely transformed, it remains a "go-to" staple of the area.
Love Vitello’s even going back before the remodel years ago. Great neighborhood favorite in a cute part of the Valley. Plus live entertainment and a nice open patio area.
Excellent service by the manager who came by our table twice to check and make sure everything was perfect
Great time had by all. We’ll be back.
Always a wonderful experience. I meet every month with my friends for a night at Vitellos, and for years now we have enjoyed it every single time. The food is delicious and perfectly prepared, however, not happy that they recently took many Italian dishes off the menu and made it more eclectic tastings. Still can ask for the chef to prepare the favorite Italian dishes but if you are new to Vitellos, then you will be missing out as Italian is the best here. Staff is always amazing and on it. Try to come on a night when they have their piano/singer, she is the best.
We love Vitellos.. We go there a lot because it’s a true neighborhood gem. From the moment you walk in you are greeted always with smiles. The staff is terrific the food is consistently good and we give it a five star for the value and the experience.
Have eaten may excellent dinners at Vitello's over the years. Brunch was just okay. Very few people in the restaurant. But still a bit noisy from a nearby boistrous table. Service was very slow. Four of us had to send back sour orange juice. The food was good and our server was very nice. It was great getting together with friends, two of whom were celebrating birthdays. But somewhat disappointed overall.
Our server Aubrey was wonderful and the food was excellent.
Was amazing. Such a jewel of a restaurant. Location is fantastic. Not crowded. Piano player was such a delight. For the Brady Bunch fans, it’s about 2 blocks from the Brady Bunch house.
The food is great.. We especially love the salmon. It's fun to go here when there are special events
The food is EXCELLENT. The redo on interior...not so much.
Th food was great, but we were also there for the live music which was also made it even a better time.
The food and service here have always been above average!
It's okay. Food is a little overpriced for what it is, but it's a decent place in every aspect. Ambiance is probably the best thing at this restaurant, otherwise i would give it 3 stars.
The food was much better before the decor was upgraded... the traditional simple italian dishes tht made Vitello's great seem to have been lost, disgarded, or forgotten.
My go to place in the valley. Crazy Lisa, and the Boss Brad make this Studio City spot GREAT !
Not as good as it used to be when the Vitellos owned the place!
When in for a quick bite, stayed longer then expected, live music!! Amazing food!
Judy Carmichael's show was AMAZING! What a great talent.
No offense to the waiters, but the whole experience was an over glorified Olive Garden. Food is mediocre at best.
Vitello's is my husband's and my new favorite restaurant. My cousin and her husband like it too. We like everything on the menu we've tried so far. It's easy to park..lot and side street parking available. Yes it is noisy!! Old Hollywood ambience, though. We haven't gone to any of the Jazz performances yet, but we want too.
Good food and service. We will go back.
Great food! Great service! Very kind people. They sat us down right away
It was Valentine’s Day so they had a limited menu. The hostess was not very welcoming and made a point to tell us that we had to be done with dinner within 2 hours because they were very busy. The server was very nice, but she didn’t offer to bring us any bread and brought it to the guests next to us. She also forgot to bring my glass of wine and after remembering brought us two glasses in error. My date doesn’t drink. We were done with dinner within an hour, but we felt rushed the whole time and didn’t get a chance to really relax and enjoy ourselves. The dessert we ordered was very basic for a restaurant with these prices. I would probably not come here again. I’m sure there are a lot of regular clientele at this place because of its history, but they need to treat their infrequent guests much better instead of just catering to the “regulars”
Valentine night. Everything was great except my seabass
Look like 2 oz! I asked the waiter before l ordered it & she said it was a good 6oz size! So when the plates came by a kitcken runner so was confused which table he was going to, but my server was no where to be seem. l was so shocked & disappointed, that this happened. To besides it was $38 list price on the menu. Which maybe right but not for 2 oz!!!
Anyways, l continue with my dinner, soon after l finish, my server appeared, l explained what happened, & my compromise was that l was offered a tiramisu worth $10 for free. I took it so as not to make a fuss or spoil the evening with my husband. So they took $10 off my bill. Overall, l was disappointed about the false advertising on the menu. I wanted the correct serving of seabass fish not sugar for compromise. I am not sure l will return there.
My first visit was very nice. I definitely will consider returning.
I've been to Vitellos 4-5 times now. I've been very happy with the service, atmosphere, food, etc. this last time was my Birthday and there were 7 of us. Everyone enjoyed their dinner except for me...my salad was a simple one, but I had asked the waiter if he recommended chicken, and I wanted to know if it was tender. It came, it was so dry I couldn't eat it. I was surprised, but had assumed the waiter would take it off my bill, but I don't believe he did. My Husband paid the bill for the family and he never looked.
I have always enjoyed going there but this was my first lunch with out of town friends. Great wait staff and the food was presented in a timely. We all enjoyed our choices.
