Fantastic! Great menu options prepared to perfection! Amazing service in a beautiful space! Portions were not large but I prefer it that way...quality over quantity. Prices are on the higher side but meals did not disappoint. I was there for a business meal with customers and unlike some NYC restaurants, that can be extremely loud and make it hard to have a conversation, Vitae was much less noisy and tables weren’t crammed together. Overall terrific evening and I would recommend and go again.
Rolls were awesome! Tuna crusader appetizer was excellent as well! Butternut squash risotto was super tasty. Little extras were much appreciated and a pleasant surprise.
Fantastic creative food, but rather tightly packed tables
Totally exceeded our expectations! Every moment and course had something special for my birthday and the food was divine!
Fabulous dinner. Surprisingly good with lots of little welcome additions (amuses-bouche, etc). Really good.
Vitae is one of my favorite go-to restaurants for lunch. Food and service are great, central location, and you can hear the person/people you're with. Always a treat!
This is my third time at VITAE and it doesn't disappoint. Professional services and staff are very friendly and attentive. Love the relaxed ambience of the restaurant. My friend felt as special as I wanted him to be for his pre-birthday celebration. Food was delicious and Oregon Pinot Noir was affordable.
Atmosphere is great. Love, love, love the music selection. Clapton, hendrix, who etc. first time in a nyc restaurant dining to the classics. Food was really good. Service good enough but they seemed a bit short-staffed. Probably just a one off. Will definitely be back
Vitae’s service was outstanding. They customized the menu and gave us complimentary bubbly and two additional desserts.
We loved the food. Service excellent. Definitely recommend Vitae
This restaurant was just simply amazing from the food all the way back to the service.
They went out of their way to make a friend’s birthday special!! Will go back for all birthdays!
the restaurant favorably located for us and is good . But advertised open table with only two $? The menu was very limited and wine and food over priced = change to $$ not two.
there are so many other better choices and would not return.
Food was good menu was over complicated in its wording for no reason. The food was great, good with food allergy’s
Fab-tastic company dinner. The personalized menus and cookies to go were a big hit. Lots of details covered. The food was beyond tasty!
Did the tasting menu. Good size portions and good variety
The service here was fine, but the food was mediocre. For all of the Italian restaurants in the city, I would not opt for this in the future, especially at this price point.
A bit overpriced and food somewhat under-seasoned.
Bottle of wine options not much under $90. I know it's NYC, but really?
Best Foie Gras I’ve had. Also had the grilled octopus which was also amazing. Service was a bit slow , .05 less star slow but overall I give this place a 5 star.
This was our third visit. It was recommended by my millennial daughter and I was very happy to introduce it to my contemporaries. We all loved it. Each appetizer and entrée was spectacular and, after not having ordered dessert, were happily sent off with a generous bag of cookies to enjoy later. The service was professional and generous as well.
Dinner was lovely. My son is away at college and came in to the city for dinner with me.
My childhood best friend and I celebrated both of our birthdays while visiting NYC and selected Vitae based on proximity to our hotel, menu and reviews. We chose to have a Chef Selection dinner w/wine pairings and all I could say is the chef did not disappoint! Not only were we warmly greeted by the staff, but they custom made the menu with a birthday celebration, card on the table and tissue paper confetti on the table - done tastefully. The food the chef prepared for both of us not only pleased our palates, but were beautifully presented: pasta, tuna tartare, fried oysters, seared sea scallops, roasted duck and a rich decadent chocolate torte. The wine pairings were also on point and plentiful. A wonderful experience!
A really a sensational experience. Coming from out of town, I had never heard of Vitae and found it via Google search for restaurants in the general proximity. Boy did I pick a winner!! Vitae is now on my go to list for restaurants in NYC! We were on a weekend get away for our birthdays and then headed to the theater. The restaurant was efficient in delivering service but we never felt rushed. My wife had butternut squash risotto and I had a wonderful duck breast entrée. Both were excellent.
Vitae gets an A+
I came to Vitae not quite knowing what to expect. Since it's in a neighborhood that mainly pulls tourists and business lunches, the bar could've been low and the prices high. While the prices were higher, the quality of the food and service was as well. It felt upscale without feeling stuffy. The staff was friendly and helpful, but not too formal. Food was great across the board. Really a pleasant surprise.
We went at 5pm so restaurant was mostly empty at that time as you might expect. Took a while to submit our order, but then food came very fast. No issue getting out on time for flight. Staff was friendly and helpful. Food was excellent. My sister had chestnut agnlonotti and I had the lamb. I thought the lamb was especially good. My main disappointment was the prices on the wines by the glass seemed outrageous. I don't go out that often so maybe I'm just out of date on NY prices, but only one offering below $20. Thankfully they let my sister try it and when she did she rejected it. Other than that a nice experience.
We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. We tried the 4-course and paired with wine for each course. The wait captain was stellar, as were all the staff. We remarked that this was one of the first fine dining establishments where ALL the staff worked as a team. It was exceptional. We will return.
Wonderful restaurant! One of my favorites that I always go to when in town.
Lots of great choice on the menu and excellent service
Just visited Vitae for a business lunch. After initial concern with being one of the first diners in the restaurant for lunch on a Wednesday, the place filled up quickly. I enjoyed a beautiful and tasty roasted beet salad accompanied with a New England clam chowder while my business associate enjoyed the butternut squash risotto. The reservation was quick and easy on OpenTable.
My husband and I went to Vitae for the first time for a special birthday dinner. It was more than we had hoped for! The staff were attentive and pleasant, each dish was carefully crafted and absolutely delicious. They ensured that the dinner was not rushed but timely so that we would not miss our next engagement and was the perfect ambiance for a cosy romantic evening (not loud at all!). The staff really went to extra effort to ensure it really was a special occasion. Make sure you leave room for desert - its worth it!
The service was excellent. Everyone was very friendly including the Hostess, the waiter and the bus person. Food was very good and the prices were competitive for the city. My only suggestion is to have more vegetarian options if possible. The restaurant was very accommodating and prepared a special order but it is always better to see an option on the menu.
My wife and I had a fantastic time for dinner. We went for her birthday and the service was top notch.
Initially the pictures and menu drew me in here. Upon arrive and greeted to a really nice hostest, we were sat a bit on top of others with an open restaurant. Our waitress gave us a good wine reco based on our ask which was spot on. Again, menu read well but each dish was pretty uninspiring. Very blah, untasteful from the fried oysters which taste very fishy (maybe frozen?), duck fat rolls which taste like typical bread (ive had mouth watering duck fat rolls a week prior), and very mediocre Wild Halibut. Overall it was 'fine' but I wont go back and if I knew then what I know now; not worth the price of admission.
Good for a Friday night in Manhattan. No wait and pretty good service. Not too crowded and good quality food. The appetizers are pretty amazing. Yummy
The food was amazing. I can’t recommend this restaurant enough. Not only was every single thing we ate exquisite, the service and General Manager Liz were among the best we’ve ever experienced. If you’re looking for great food, great service, and overall the best New York dining experience you could have, give VITAE a try.
First, the waiter acted like he didn't have time for us. Barely answered our questions, and looked annoyed.
He then told us (including my clients) that they have no Salmon at our noon reservation, then talked us up to the most expensive dish, Scallops, which ended up undercooked.
Lastly, after I ordered the entree, the table next to us had 2 salmon entrees.
The whole meal was very disappointing and expensive.
I am disappointed that I️ read that this was a good place for a quiet business dinner and I️ requested a quiet table upstairs for a business dinner and they put us downstairs in the noisy room
Food was lovely but the restaurant was out of some wines and did not have the venison either which was disappointing. Too many customers for too few staff so you did not feel looked after at all and had to ask constantly for some acknowledgment of your precence
We had a little snafu with our reservation. I made a 1 PM on Open Table and called to see if 1245 would work; they said come any time between 1230-1. When we checked in at 1245, the reservation had been cancelled. We had to wait 10 mins or so for a table. When we did sit down, though, the chef sent complimentary amuse bouche so that was nice. The food was really great for midtown and the ambience was suitable for a business lunch. You could have a conversation and the decor was nice. I will be back for work lunches!!
