It was my husband's birthday and they treated him like he was special! Food was good especially the Tuna appetizer. Was a nice night out.
Great Valentine’s Day set up
Food was not good.
This restaurant is a welcome addition to this area of the city. The food was superb; a little pricey but totally worth it. Everything we had to eat was excellent. Service great too; everyone was welcome, efficient and professional. I would go back as well as recommend to others.
The recipes, atmosphere and service here are SPECTACULAR!!
Service was sloooooow, very inattentive. Food was good but relatively uninteresting. Wine list uninspired.
Terrific food and service! Pricey, but great place to go before theater and treat yourself!
Food was good. The server was smiling and kind it seemed, but she kept interrupt our conversation, middle of eatings, to ask if we’re doing fine. We weren’t eating slow, nor the place was busy. Nothing was abnormal. Because it was so uncomfortable interruptions, made us push out sooner. Maybe it was what she wanted.
Very pleasant lunch. Staff was great, room is well lit and not too loud for lunch
Great menu and food was perfect
Food was great, but lunch ambiance was too noisy for conversation. The music was VERY loud.
Always a great experience and so convenient to Grand Central.
Wonderful food and service. Went before theatre and very conscious of getting us there on time. Lovely staff.
Great food...service was very good...drinks could be a lot better. Overall I will go back again.
Dear guest, Our apology as you did not enjoy the drinks as much. Would you kindly let us know what drinks did you have so that we can work to improve them for the next time you come back?
We questioned doing NYE dinner out with our two boys (8 and 10 yrs old.) We needn’t have worried- the experience was wonderful! From the friendly hostess, to the bartender who made the boys “mocktails” to our server who was genuinely kind and engaging- we felt welcomed and well taken care of from the moment we walked through the door. The food was excellent- we all did the 3 course prix fixe, and the chef send out a beautiful arancini amuse as well. My son has a mango allergy, and ordered a shrimp appetizer without the mango sauce- the chef not only happily accommodated the request, but came out to the table to make sure we knew it was made without the mango, and even made him some extra when my son told him how much he was enjoying it. My other son ordered a filet and the reduction that accompanied it was among the best I’ve ever tasted. The duck with pomegranate hit all the right notes and was a beautifully crispy confit alongside a perfectly cooked breast. The scallops were also a hit with everyone at the table. The cheesecake with passion fruit purée was the star of the desserts. It was a delicious meal and a lovely evening all around. We’re looking forward to visiting again!
Dear Guest, Thank you so much for dining with us. We really appreciate your kind words and we look forward to your return.
Service was great. Apps and entres were good and dessert was fantastic.
Excellent service and food. The perfect stop to get away from the crowds.
Wonderful dinner. Shrimp & crab dumplings and halibut were outstanding with the selection of a red wine flight. Topped off with wild blueberry bread pudding. Great service too.
Excellent food and service!! Peter did a great job and Jesse runs a well oiled machine!
Great food and service. A bit noisy but we’re there for early Dinner may be cozier later in the night.
It was overall ok. Not sure I will return anytime soon. I will say the Food was amazing. Tasty, delicious, a little twist on classic dishes. Very good.
The service was below average. The waitstaff was a different person at every point. Not working together. The first waitress poured us a glass of wine from the bottle that was literally the tiniest pour I ever had. Like what you get at a wine tasting. Another women came, spoke so softly I still do t know what she said. We then said no thank you to dessert, they bring the check?? We actually wanted another glass of wine instead of dessert and they weren’t happy. Maybe they were rushing us out. Not sure. Rude behavior.
Prices are high
Service is poor.
It’s a shame since the food is great.
Excellent food and top and efficient service. It was a bit loud but this was office party season
Great menu, food and service. Deducted stars because the rest rooms were dirty and did not have towels. Also, one did not have a lock on the doorwhich is unacceptable.
Lovely from the moment you walk in. Personable hostesses and waiters/waitresses. Delicious food and drinks. Great location just slightly tucked away.
Amazing food, great service ! Highly recommend
Very good food menu; appealed to all of our guests (including vegetarian)
This is the last place to consider for a productive business conversation. It has to be the noisiest restaurant in Manhattan.
But perhaps the food was the biggest disappointment. Vitae had been our favorite restaurant for years. Perhaps there’s been a change in the kitchen. There’s certainly been a change in the prices, and not in a good way. $100 per guest with no drinks is unreasonable, especially when the food is insignificant. Fortunately, we are blessed with so many other, better choices in that neighborhood.
Loved the food, service and style of the restaurant! Definitely worth a visit when in NYC.
The food was good as long as you don’t mind having to constantly wait for the waiters. Would have got a bottle of wine too but it took to long to help us, as our meals were almost ready when we finally got a drink order in.
They went all out to acknowledge my wife’s birthday which I thought was great.
Food was ok at best. way overpriced for value and overall taste.
Very diverse menu and everything ordered was delicious! Salmon mousse on smoked potato "treat" from the chef was amazing!
The food was delicious!
The food was tastefull, the waiters were kind, but the music was too loud. It felt more like a disco than a restaurant.
It was a lovely date night before a show. They offered wonderful apps and dessert besides our meals and drink. Would recommend.
Went for pre-show dinner for hubby’s birthday. Special menu just for him. Food all very good. Given a bag of cookies and sweet handwritten birthday note at end of meal.
VITAE is a rare diamond in the city - such a wonderful dining experience we had there! I made a reservation for my mother-in-law and I for lunch. It was her birthday and I requested (while making a reservation on OpenTable) something nice like Happy Birthday on her plate to make her feel special. Boy, did they make her feel special! She was greeted with a special menu with Happy Birthday on it. Our amazing waitress (I believe Ann Claire - I'm bad with names!) came up and wished her happy birthday as well. She was attentive, detailed and not overbearing. Love her! The food and presentation was simply outstanding! Food deserves a review on its own. The flavor, the combinations - a must come back! The dessert was also designed for my mom-in -law with a candle and special presentation. They truly went out of their way to make my favorite old bird feel special and really happy. I cannot thank them enough!
This was our first time at Vitae and we will be back! Food, service, ambience and value was spot on. Highly recommend!
It was a perfect pre-show dinner.
