Brilliant service, food, ambiance and experience!
We arrived on the heels of a noisy office party to find the staff cheerfully setting Dinner. At least five different waits made sure our evening was perfect including getting us out for a Bway curtain. In addition to our ordered drinks, a complimentary glass of Proseco (to awaken your tastebuds) was very welcome. My order of Caci de Pepi was perfect and who can resist the duck fat rolls? A tiny aperitif and cookies sent us merrily on our way. Will return when a more leisurely dinner may be enjoyed.
Great food, great service, great value. Will definitely return.
It’s a great restaurant by Times Square standards but generally underwhelming.
the service was outstanding, the waiters were very attentive about keeping water refilled or drinks filled,
there was more than one person helping at the tables, more than one person was asking about your order or food. we had the pork belly appetizer, and for the main meal the duck breast (best I ever had)
We were able to make a reservation for 6, not an easy last minute feat in Times Square. We ended up arriving 45 minutes early and they were happy to seat us. Both the food and the service were well beyond the price point of the items. We hope to return on our net trip to NYC.
We ordered the grilled octopus which was overcooked. We were very disappointed.
Service was messy when the manager stuck her nose into the wine service. It then resumed fine and all was well. Food is very good. A bit noisy though
This restaurant was recommended to us by our best friend. We were there on a very busy night. (the restaurant was almost at capacity we we arrived for our 6:00 PM reservation and yet you would have thought we among a select number of diners there for a quiet evening. We found the menu interesting and included a wide variety of choices for all. the wine list was varied and the price points were acceptable. We settled for the gourmet burgers and a 2016 Daou Cabernet Savignon.
Would I return-absolutely.
Great food, great service!
Very solid spot for business lunch. Not too stuffy and just the right vibe and ambience.
Octopus was tender but too cold and bland. Chickpeas tasted from the can. Burrata was also too cold.
Excellent food and service, all for a reasonable price. The arancini were delicious although you would do well to ask for a little extra tomato sauce. The fennel stuffed trout was divine. We discovered Vitae thanks to a friend's recommendation and will definitely be back.
Tasting menu is a must with wine pairing. Everyone I’ve taken here is impressed. Service is incredible. Truly a great dinner every time I’ve been!
Another great experience! I have been here several times and it never disappoints. I particularly like the new art. The atmosphere was nice before, but seeing some change on the walls is refreshing as well. The food is consistently good and I absolutely love the pork tacos.
I arrived a bit early and had a drink at the bar. The bartender made us two amazing drinks! If you like specialty cocktails, you could spend some time enjoying the bar as well. Big fan!
Waiter was nice, just couple of comments:
I was surprised that the Chef did not have much flexibility in terms of cooking a simple pasta with shrimp
Also the support waitress dropped my card on the floor... fortunately we found it
The food quality was not at the price level we pay for.
I had an amazing experience here at Vitae! I was taking my best friend out for her birthday and I made sure to ask for them to do something special for her. They did everything to make her experience personal and most definitely magical. I couldn’t have asked them to have done a better job! Food was out of this world as was the service! I can’t wait to come back and try the rest of the menu!
Vitae is a mid-town find with an excellent menu buoyed by top-notch service, elegant atmosphere, and faultless delivery. It is a pleasure to know that one can find a place to eat for business, leisure, and everything in between in the heart of the usually disappointing mid-town restaurant scene.
Our waiter was fabulous. I believe his name was Peter. Wonderful personality and tried very hard to make us feel special and very satisfied with our experience. We were there October 25, 2018.
We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Vitae. The staff were very attentive and friendly, the atmosphere buzzing, and the food outstanding. Will definitely go again.
The Food was excellent !!! Service was really Friendly, we enjoyed it!!!
THE WAITER SPOKE VERY LOUD JUST IN CASE YOUR HARD OF HEARING!
Went to Vitae for my birthday and they made it very special. My menu was customized just for me and I received a special amuse bouche and dessert. The staff was very attentive and the meal was delicious. They even sent me home with cookies to enjoy later. I will definitely eat here again!
Great food, great service. Never disappoints!
The location is wonderful - midtown but with a great diverse scene.
Excellent food and service! Needed a quick last minute dinner for 5. Accommodations were available and the rest is history! Highly recommend!
Came here for a quick bite with a friend who works in midtown. Ambience, food and service were all great. A good find..
VITAE is an attractive restaurant with a bright contemporary look. It's conveniently located in the Grand Central Terminal area and the staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. Dishes are generally tasty and nicely presented, although not particularly innovative, nor did they live up to this restaurant's many enthusiastic reviews. As we were departing at meal's end, with only one table still occupied about 20 minutes before closing time, a party of business executives entered. The late arrivals were warmly welcomed as they thanked Vitae management for honoring their telephone request to hold open the restaurant for an after hours dinner. Obviously Vitae provides an appreciated service for the business community.
We went to VITAE with out of town close friends that we see every Columbus Day weekend. It was a special yearly occasion for our two families for a weekend dinner out. We selected the restaurant because it was close to our hotel, it had good reviews and it had the type of menu we where looking for. The food was excellent. The service was spotty and the ambiance was comfortable. The hostess noticed the spotty service so the restaurant offered us a round of free drinks/beverages. This was a lovely gesture. It seemed odd to us that the restaurant insisted on confirming our reservations several days prior and asked us to secure the reservation for 6 with a a credit card when it was barely full when we arrived. By the time we left at 9:30 there was no one else in the restaurant. During the whole evening the restaurant was never crowded. It was hard to understand why the service was uneven. If you want a quiet place to eat with really good food and lovely staff in this neighborhood I would say give it a try!
My newly engaged fiancé and I were there celebrating our engagement on October 6th 2018 and it was the best experiences we have had in a long time. The place was clean and friendly and the waiter was the most poised, helpful, attentive and the best all around. I can not remember his name (sorry), but he was the only waiter on the floor at 5pm. A huge thank you to Vitae and our waiter for an unforgettable experience.
The food was absolutely amazing and our servers took great care of us during the entire evening. Will definitely be back soon.
Great midtown spot for a healthy, non-steakhouse business lunch!
Food was good -solid seasonal food. The problems came from the front of the house. Service was fairly scattered, and if we had an assigned waitress/waiter, I couldn't tell you who they were. Also skeptical of their wine program; they pushed some off-list wine that was served far too young and not opened in front of us. Best part of the meal was the bonus cookie treat from the kitchen.
Mediocre service, too few options, felt rushed even though room was empty ... but this was more due to the style of the hostess, small portions but we were not hungry anyway. Would not return.
Food and service very good. Lovely place but not inexpensive
Great food. Service was totally fine. Noise at the height of lunch was horrendous. By 1:30pm, it was perfectly fine. Table of 5 could not have a group conversation - had to be one-on-one until the place cleared out.
The pricing here is crazy even for Manhattan, 4oz glass of wine for $24 is one of the cheaper options. Food was decent, octopus was cold when it came out, steak tartar was not great at all, no seasoning and very large grind for tartar. I would not return, but the location is very close to Grand Central which is why I picked it.
Good food. A bit of Asian flare to Continental cuisine. The restaurant was quiet, but the night we dined there was a holiday evening.
On the pricey side.
Second time here and having the tasting menu and they really knock it out of the park. The food is simply perfect, the service is impeccable. They made it look like I went above and beyond for a special dinner but credit to them for many thoughtful touches throughout the meal. The wine pairings were also exceptional always including unique selections.
Service got off to a very slow start. Fortunately the bar tender came to the rescue by also waiting on tables. Also once the food order went in, it came out timely. All in all a positive experience. Would definitely recommend for pre-show dinner.
