Great business dinner environment. Variety of dishes on menu will please different tastes. The pork belly sticky buns were the best of the appetizers we ordered. The halibut basted in duck fat with trumpet mushrooms, and dove sole with Alaskan king crab entrees were excellent. Décor is beautiful. This one if going on my personal NYC restaurant list.
Great food, great service. Always come here when in NYC.
We enjoyed an incredible meal at Vitae. We were in early to make a Broadway show and the staff was welcoming and spoiled us with a treat of smoked salmon. Presentation was perfect and the food tasted spectacular. We would recommend this to any special date. Rated 11/10.
Lovely tasting meal for my husbands birthday and the team really accommodated our requirements - as always the food was great and we had a lovely evening.
We (two women) arrived really early and the dining room was empty and the waitress refused to sit us in a corner table, coming up with so many excuses for reach four tables in the four corners of the room. Then every male/female couple that arrived were placed in the corner tables. What was up with that? Then we did the tasting menu, where the chef chooses what you eat, but it was kind of dumb because the chef selected items off the menu. In that case, we should have just ordered from the menu, at least we would have gotten what we wanted. A tasting menu should incorporate things not from the menu, making it chef selections/specials. Then we finished our meal and the waitress brought us our check immediately when we didn't even ask for it. There was a couple sitting next to us who also did the tasting menu and she didn't bring them the check when they finished the same time we did. Just disappointed overall with the whole experience. Food was good, some dishes were salty.
The food is fantastic, but it’s so loud. It was very hard to have a conversation without yelling and leaning into each other.
Everything was excellent. Highly recommend. The duck was superb.
We wanted to go to Vitae for our anniversary, but they are closed on Sunday, so we went on Friday instead. We have eaten at a lot of nice restaurants across the US, and this was one of the best meals we’ve had! Our menus said “Happy Anniversary” at the top and there were glass hearts scattered across our corner table. I can’t remember the name of my craft cocktail, but it was delicious. We ordered a few apps and the squid ink shrimp and garlic pasta (delish!). The chef sent 3 bite-sized portions of 3 apps on the house for our special occasion followed by the apps that we ordered. Our favorites were the fried oyster, pulled pork tacos on polenta shells and the tuna crudo (so flavorful!). We were so full from sinner that we decided to las on dessert, but they brought out a piece of chocolate tart with “Happy Anniversary” written in chocolate on the edge of the plate. It was decadent! They really made us feel special, and we will return!
Delicious option for lunch in midtown. A bit of a splurge, but the food is stellar.
Wonderful experience for an anniversary dinner. Very friendly and attentive but not intrusive service. Dover sole was outstanding, as was the Vitae burger. They brought us a special dessert (complimentary) to finish off the evening. A me,prable evening.
A truly amazing dining experience from start to finish. Cocktails, food, service and the ambiance were impeccable. We had the 5 course tasting menu which was so worth it. Looking forward to going back!!
Good food, good selection, good service
OUTSTANDING! The food is excellent and the service and ambience simply terrific. A neighborhood gem!
This place used to be good but now it's just meh. The food wasn't worth the cost and was extremely salty. The bartender was really sweet but the waitress was rude. I wouldn't go back.
Overrated, over priced, only acceptable food, loud, inattentive service.
This is one of my favorites. The staff is very friendly. Love Jessie and the chef....amazing! Food is delicious and consistent. I have never had a bad meal here.
Outstanding, as always. VITAE never disappoints!
Excellent good and service. Not too bad noise wise. Quality ingredients. It's expensive. It's good
Very small portions with a large price tag. Good service
I celebrated my birthday here and the service and food were excellent. They also went out of their way to make my birthday special.
I had a good dinner with some professional colleagues on a Wednesday Night. Everything was good but nothing was unusually great.
The food is always expertly prepared. Always something new. Great service. They deliver great customer touchpoints at every opportunity.
Food was very good and atmosphere was pleasant. We had scallops dish and duck. Both were great. Only complaint I had was the drink. We ordered a so co and seven and they brought a 7 and 7. When we brought it to waiters attention they admitted they were out of the so co. I did not appreciate them trying to pull off a substitute without checking with us. They should have just been honest about it. Other than that it was a great meal with great service.
Consistently excellent food in a challenging midtown restaurant landscape.
Definitely would dine here again! The food was amazing!
Excellent all the way around. Great service and great food.
The food was good but the service was poor. Some servers were nice but two of them were very rude. The food was served in the wrong order, later it was cold. The food was good but overpriced. There are other much better alternatives in the city.
The waitress recommended the Lobster Cannelloni, and it was awful. The stuffing was watery, and tasteless. We had been here, twice before and it was excellent. There are multiple samplings, on the house, and they were good, and the bread was tasty, but I should have sent my dinner back, My boyfriend did enjoy his pork chop.
We had a special dinner - my cousin had just gotten married and I noted that on my reservation.
The staff, from the minute I walked in the door, was super friendly, cheerful, funny attentive. They brought us champaign to toast, a special menu to commemorate the evening, and lovely treats. Truly a night to remember!! THANK YOU!
While everything was delicious, and service was excellent, both my husband and I felt ill the night and day after eating there. We shared a dish and have to believe that was the cause. Very disappointing because I thought I had discovered a great place to go pre-theater.
The Overall experience was great. The only thing I found disconcerting was that while I was conversing with my friends, one of my plates was removed before I had finished eating. If there is food left on a plate I always appreciate being asked if I am finished.
Samedi soir, à peine 10 personnes dans le restaurant!
Drôle de sensation !
A 21h00, nous étions les derniers clients !
Our server was phenomenal. Truly a great experience - perfect for special occasions!
Absolutely great service! Food was tasth and beautifully plated. Definitely recommend here to celebrate special occasions.
Vitae is amazing. The food is stellar, service is solid, and the setting is beautiful. Highly recommend the burrata and salmon.
We were in NYC for Spring Break. My pasta was delicious. My son had the burger and although it was under cooked, it was very good. The fries were delicious. My husband ordered the tacos which were pretty good and the arancini which were tiny but delicious. Service was great!
Great service. The hamachi was delicious. The scallops in the Thai sauce are possibly my favorite scallops I've ever had. And the duck was cooked beautifully. I enjoyed the bottle of Cab - priced fairly. My only negative was that the cheese plate was not good. They were all soft and none of them were anything special. I could have done without it. Especially after such well done apps & Entrees.
This is my go-to mid-town restaurant for when I find myself in NYC (~ once per year). Something for everyone and always fresh and delicious.
Ate at VITAE this weekend to celebrate a special birthday for a family member. I selected it based on the reviews on Open Table and it did not disappoint. From the moment we walked in, we were taken with the elegant and contemporary decor and the welcoming smiles from the staff. The dining room is moderately sized and has a luxe, plush, warm and inviting feel. The menu has a wonderful variety of contemporary American style dishes which appealed to all of our small party of three. The waitress was lovely and made wonderful recommendations to us when asked. The service was excellent and attentive, and not the least bit intrusive or overbearing. Our birthday girl was given special attention in a warm and caring manner, including the presentation of an extra appetizer sampler which we had not even asked for. Each course was delicious, and the Pistachio Semi-freddo dessert was of noteworthy deliciousness and a perfect meal ending delight. We ate on the early side for a Saturday evening, as we had plans afterward. The restaurant was quiet when we arrived, yet became busier as the typical NYC Saturday night dining crowd settled in. It wasn't packed, and I'm not sure if it was because the St. Paddy's Day parade had ended just a couple of hours prior, or if it typically more of a weekday business dinner spot. Regardless, I would imagine that even if it was completely packed to the gills, it would still be a wonderful spot, conducive to table conversation. Unlike most other NYC restaurants which tend to be so loud, I believe the plush feel of the decor lends itself nicely to absorbing some of the noise most other restaurants lack. It was a wonderful dining experience and we can't wait to return!
