Vista 18 Westcoast Grill and Wine Bar Ratings and Reviews
We came here for breakfast and the food was not good. You can tell that things were made in advance and left out — most of the food tasted a bit off. The worst was definitely the poached eggs that were sitting in a disgusting puddle of sour water...the egg whites tasted like rubber; you can tell the eggs were sitting out for awhile. The eggs didn’t taste fresh at all. We will not be returning here.
The service was good and the view was nice, but overall, the food really made our stomachs feel queasy.
Very disappointed with value. Added $7 to my dish for a side of vegetables, and I got 3 green beans, one slice of yellow pepper, and 4 pieces of mushrooms. Couldn’t believe that was the only veg on my plate. Steak was done as I requested but I left the restaurant so hungry. Very disappointing. I even asked the server if I should get a side of mushrooms as I love them, and she said “oh you will get enough in your side veg” .... literally the equivalent of one big mushroom cut into 4 pieces ... so disappointing as I brought friends from out of town.
Beautiful view and interesting menu was ruined by a very loud group which made the evening horrific. Surprised the staff didn't deal with the situation as there is a private dining room could have easily been used to make everyone happy. As a former waiter who has had to deal with similar situations, was disappointed. Pretty much ruined a special night with my daughters.
My husband and I took a trip up the west coast for our anniversary, ending in Victoria. We ate here because we were staying at the hotel, but the food and service were excellent!! Definitely one of the better restaurants on our trip! The view is spectacular, and we enjoyed it very much!
My Vegan family member ordered one of two vegan salad choices. The lunch salad occupied 5 inches of plate space. It had one long slice of cucumber to hold in 20 small lettuce leaves. Apparenty she enjoyed the dressing. She was hungry after finishing her salad so we went to a sandwich shop for our 2nd lunch. I ordered the belgian wallfle which came with chocolate chips and crushed local hazelnuts. It was dry and the menu said chocolate. I would not have ordered it if I knew I was paying so much for 10 chocolate chips. I refused the fake maple syrup and the honey so I was infor a dry little waffle. I too ate a sandwich afterwards.
I have tried to enjoy this restaurant 2 times before and it always disappoints. May I suggest better quality food to start like real maple syrup in a tiny jug is all an adult would want. I would have had an eggs benny but I remembeted the hollandaise sauce was not house made. I think my waffle wasn't house made either.
Great setting but the quality of the food wasn't great so this isn't a place I'll return to for a meal and I can't recommend it to others. I may go back just for a drink when I have guests from out of town and want a place with a view, but the food will need to improve a lot before I'd want another meal here.
It's the very first birthday of my boyfriend's since we've been together, feel lucky to choose vista 18 and the delicous food, duck breast is recommended, the view is fabulous in Vic, service is very friendly and we received a surprise birthday gift from the restaurant! thank you so much :)
We have been coming here for the last four years to celebrate our anniversary and have always enjoyed it. The farm-to-table vegetables were full of flavor unlike most store bought. The lamb was exceptional. This is a tradition we will continue. Our server was very friendly and prompt.
As soon as we arrived, we were made to feel very welcome. Kate our server, was extremely knowledgable about the local foods and BC wines
We would highly recommend this restaurant for people who enjoy some of the finest of Victoria cuisine combined with a panoramic view of the city scape
