Although Service was slow, food was outstanding and very tasty.
Love being outside on the patio!
The octopus starter was tender. The duck entree was very tasty. I enjoyed the sticky toffee cake. The indoor portion of the restaurant is quite small & tables are very close together. The outdoor area looked comfortable.
Always a delicious brunch when we share the salad with figs and the classic crepe. Add to that a Moscow mule and an Ice Queen and it’s heaven.
Great experience. Liked everything about the place.
Attitude is everything! And unfortunately the attitude at this restaurant was condescending and cold. The hostess messed up our table reservation but I’m going to at least say that she seemed genuinely sorry. Where she failed is I don’t think she attempted to contact the management and ask if they wanted to do anything to compensate. We decided to go ahead and eat there anyway. Our food was adequate at best. The appetizer was delicious the octopus chard. Our halibut was stone cold and when our server asked if we enjoyed our meal and told him that it was stone cold and over cooked he didn’t even offer an apology let alone anything else. I had to ask for a decent wine glass for an expensive glass of wine served in a dollar store wine glass. And he acted like that was going above and beyond to let me have the same Weinglass I saw a neighboring table. The dessert was delicious I will say that it was the butterscotch putting. Our server at the very end came up and was amiable. Conveniently right before tip time. We were celebrating a birthday. Which was never even recognized, In their defense I’m not sure I put that in the reservation but we were staying at the hotel and the operator of the hotel actually acknowledged that it was her birthday. When Our reservation was screwed up, I did mention a couple times it was so disappointing and discouraging because I had booked far in adVance because we were celebrating a birthday. If you’re looking for a pretentious overpriced restaurant then I would recommend this place. If you’re looking for a place that shows a great deal Warmth and values your business go elsewhere.
Small Menu that apparently changes often. Great al fresco dining spot.
This was our first time eating here. We had a great server, Ivan, who was very knowledgeable about the preparations and an excellent server. I'm a serious diner and was very impressed with the octopus appetizer and the chicken entree was maybe the best chicken dish I ever had in a restaurant. My wife's scallops were equally as good. This restaurant will become a regular in our rotation.
4th time here, always money. The food is very creative and the staff well trained. We'll keep coming back.
Our experience dining at Virtue was nothing short of spectacular. The menu is creative, the service impeccable (Evan was our server and was amazing!), ambiance is perfectly whimsical, and the food was out of this world! We couldn’t have crafted a better experience! 👏
Virtu is not to be missed. Absolutely perfect experience, starting with the brilliant service, starting at the front checkin, to the bar, to every server, but particularly Matt, who clearly lives his craft. Then the food. Oh my, the food. Each dish seemed better than the last, but not to be missed are the asparagus with truffle oil and over-easy egg, the pate, the scallops, the chocolate caramel cake (from someone who doesn’t even like cake!) and an amaro flight. Go to Virtu. Then go back. We did, for brunch the next day (have the French toast) and dinner again the next day. Beautiful experience each time.
Great outdoor venue. Creative food and drink. Great service.
Fairly quiet for brunch on a Saturday at 11:30. Great cocktails, a small but inspired menu, and great service combined to make a really nice experience.
I was in Scottsdale for a winter getaway with the girls. We ate at 3 restaurants in Old Town, plus our hotel. All of our meals were quite good, but Virtu was head and shoulders above the rest in every way. We shared four courses, and everyone was exceptional. The service was excellent while remaining relaxed. The courtyard seating was great. While it is a great place for foodies, it also is just a place to get really approachable food with amazing flavors.
I had high hopes for Virtu. Loved the outdoor seating - lovely on a warm evening. But we were disappointed at the food. The cauliflower wasn't spicy at all, rather bland. The Thai ribs were a little dry but the mac and cheese was really tasty! We also got the vegetarian enchiladas - all I could taste was the sauce, not the filling. The concept is there on great food. We just didn't experience it.
This was our third visit to Virtu. The previous two were very good experiences with very good food, a beautiful setting, and good service albeit all at a premium price. The third time was not so lucky.
The food was really disappointing. The flavours weren't well developed, the flavour combinations were odd - the gnocchi with rabbit had a smoked molasses that overwhelmed everything. The halibut was horribly overcooked to the point that it was dry and flavourless.
The service was spotty. The staff couldn't seem to get the meals to the right person at our table. One of us has a bivalve allergy and it took multiple people to explain why the chef didn't want to serve her the halibut - it was the prep table, not the cooking that was the problem. The wine pours were twice as large as they should have been.
All of this was followed by a really large bill because it has, in our previous visits, been worth the premium price. Enough was wrong with our experience that our group of two couples has no interest in a fourth visit.
It's too bad. It used to be a really good, if expensive, restaurant but something has changed.
Delicious, creative, Calabrian food. The service was very good, however our server described every single dish on the menu in spite of good descriptions already written. Perhaps there were a few unfamiliar Italian words for some people. They encourage you to get a three course meal, which I did, but that is a lot of food. Two would have been fine. We could not finish. We got one of the least expensive bottles of Chablis which was over $50 and seems normal. We were disappointed in the high price though. They must be paying a lot for all of those servers.
If you are in the mood for a burger, get this one. The burger is VERY delicious...juicy, great flavors, ingredients blend well, cooked perfectly. Hit the spot.
Fantastic meal, great service, cool cocktail menu. Expensive but worth it for a special night. Highly recommend.
What a fantastic restaurant. 5 stars are not enough. It should be at least 6. The service was impeccable. I have never had food like this before. Appetizers of asparagus with fried duck and a burrata spread had unique tastes. For the main course, my wife and I shared a 40 oz. Tomahawk steak on the bone. It was perfect. Cannot wait to go back
Virtu was absolutely fantastic! Our waiter was terrific, friendly, approachable and very knew the menu well. I would remark on our food choices but the menu changes often based on available ingredients. If they have it get the octopus (I am a huge fan of octopus and until this the best I had enjoyed was from a Pinxtos restaurant in San Sebastian Spain), the dish was unbelievable, perfectly grilled and seasoned, wow! I am not sure you can go wrong with any of the dishes, we also enjoyed the asparagus, the fish of the day and the pork chops - all extraordinary! The wine list was solid and we sat outside in a very relaxing atmosphere.
Vegetable Crepe fresh ingredients though doesn't really gel together well. Pieces of vegetable separated from crepe so a bit hard to eat. Maybe more cheese? Tasted ok, perhaps more seasonings. Outdoor patio very nice as always. Good service.
We dined inside - it was very cool and uncomfortable - Seating was too tight - the noise level was intolerable - the print on the menus was too fine difficult to read in the dim lighting. Waitress was very good explaining the menu items. We found the appetizer, Octopus was very highly spiced and very rubbery - The wine - a 2011 Malbec was excellent - Our entry was very disappointing - The duck was like undercooked hamburger - The halibut portion was very small and tasteless . We tipped the waitress well because she really tried and promoted the menu but it was most disappointing. Well never go again as the fare is overpriced and failed to live up to the expectations.
great food and service. prices are on the high side. the wine list is definitely overpriced. But for inventive different tasty food, if you are willing to spend big bucks go.
Excellent server guided us through the menu and wines.
Great dishes which were not the usual Scottsdale fare. The grilled octopus was exceptional as was the chocolate desert. All done in a very nice outdoor setting.
Table next to us was loud and sun got to be intense but I have eaten here before and think it’s fabulous over all.
We were there for brunch - it was excellent! Recommended.
We have returned to Virtu many times over the last several years and always request to sit outside. This time, the restaurant was unable to honor that request. It was disappointing. We noticed that all the female-female pairs dining together (in our case, Mother-daughter) were seated inside while the male-female couples were seated outside. There were LOTS of open two-tops outside when we arrived and when we left. While the service was excellent as always, the food wasn’t as stellar as we remembered. My mom’s halibut was dry. The restaurant offered her a different entree (she declined) and bought us dessert on the House, but overall it wasn’t the best experience we’ve had at Virtu.
My husband and I had dinner at Virtu for the first time and decided over the appetizer that we would be back a great many more times. The meal was fantastic, perfectly cooked and delicious. We had the Polpo, octopus, as one of our appetizers which was probably the best octopus we have ever had. Dessert, which we shared was sticky toffee cake with salted caramel gelato. Next time I'm getting my own, I'm not sharing! The service was very attentive without being overbearing. Worth every dollar! We are already planning our next visit.
This is one of the best brunch places I’ve ever been. The food is amazing. The patio is beautiful. The service was fantastic. We love it and highly recommend it!
Hands down one of the best restaurants in Scottsdale. A MUST try. You won’t be disappointed.
It wasn’t as good as previous times. Menu didn’t have selections as in the past. Scallops were gritty. Was disappointing.
Virtu Honest Craft is superb if you like fine food well prepared and presented by friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff. The wine list is also very good and reasonable priced. Enjoy.
Loved the ambience, food, cocktails and the service! What more does one need? I will eat here anytime I’m visiting Scottsdale!
I am still dreaming about the asparagus appetizer (or small plate). Yum!
It was a delicious meal. Everything was done perfectly and presented beautifully.
Nice variety and cuisine..a bit crowded and fish a bit dry. For most part.. food was excellent!
Absolutely amazing in every way. We travel and eat out around the world and we were super impressed by the quality of the food and the wait staff. The ambiance is incredibly quaint, cozy and high end. If you haven’t been here yet- GO!!
We ate inside for the first time and found it very comfortable. We had the burrata appetizer which was served with meatballs and Nobel bread. It was a great combination. My wife and I both had seafood, The scallops and the halibut. One was better than the other. Service was outstanding .
Nice menu, great experience
Fantastic food, great wine list with many half bottles available. Out server directed us to the best choices.
Perfectly poached duck egg anointed tender asparagus, Octopus was incredibly tender, tomahawk Rib eye with chimichuri (for two ) and arugula salad was full flavored ant perfectly cooked. We do not eat red meat often, this is such a treat we ate the whole thing. I would go back again just for that dish. Do not miss the toffee dessert!
