Dined with several friends on a Sunday night. Our waiter, Nathan, was extremely attentive and made great wine suggestions. He also encouraged us to share dishes among the table which meant we were all able to try several delicious dishes. The weather was lovely and we were seated out side on the patio, and we could not have been more pleased.
First time at this local restaurant; party of three seated on the outdoor patio. Vegetarian options were very good for my hosts. Artfully presented and delicious courses and a friendly and accommodating server. I like the intimacy of the restaurant floorplan and small bar to congregate for drinks. The menus are slightly difficult to interpret; it may be that the organization of wines by the bottle and glass, and font, are not easy on the eye. Perhaps a more reader-friendly menu (s) would be an improvement.
Very good, and I will return with friends or on my own. Thank you ~ RN, Scottsdale
Excellent drinks, excellent food, excellent service and wonderful ambiance setting. Creative menu. Perfect in every way.
Hands down the best restaurant in Scottsdale! Amazing patio, food, and service.
This a gem in Scottsdale. Superb servers. Superb food. Very creative dishes. Out door seating is beautiful and romantic.
This is our "Go-To" spot for special occasions.
Beautiful setting and wonderful food!
Food was outstanding.
Always enjoy the food journey that Virtú has to offer
An OUTSTANDING experience!!! Thank you!
Michael took good care of us and was generous with his knowledge of both food and wine. He made our get together a memorable experience! Thank you, Michael!
A relaxed and cozy restaurant with a choice of indoor or outdoor seating. The service was prompt and friendly. We had a honey-flavored ricotta cheese spread bruschetta appetizer that was fairly addictive. When the bread was used up, the waiter brought us more but we continued eating the ricotta with a fork until he did. I tried the gnocchi with sausage which was excellent and light. My lunch companion had a ham and cheese omelet-like dish which was tasty, but a little too much food for either of us. The restaurant was not crowded and quiet enough so it was possible to have a conversation without having to speak loudly or repeat things. Overall an excellent choice for lunch.
Beyond Excellent , The food & service was amazing.
Another wonderful meal at Virtu. The Octopus (signature dish) was on point - tender and flavorful. The tomatoes in the Panzanella salad were so sweet and aromatic. (not an easy thing to achieve with Arizona tomatoes!). The hangar steak was incredibly delicious as well. The branzino was cooked perfectly. The duck was especially prepared for a gluten/dairy free diner. Incredibly accommodating!! The weather was perfect for our patio seating and Ivan was gracious, prompt and informative. Looking forward to returning.
The food was fantastic. I booked online and chose an outdoor table. When we arrived we where given an indoor table. Why have the option to chose if you don’t what you asked for? We dined earlier than we would have so that we could have a table on the patio. Next time I will phone and not book on line
Everything was fantastic. Great food excellent and knowledgeable server. My only critique is that the food was not hot enough. All 4 meals were warm, not hot.The flavor was excellent, however. It was too much drama to try and get it all corrected . They were really busy by then. I would still go back and I would still order the scallops, spicy spaghetti and octopus (especially fantastic). Everyone found the food delicious
Overall experience for our 35th anniversary was good. Ambiance, service, and majority of the food was great. Very disappointed in main dishes especially the sea bass. Over cooked, dry, and not close to expectations. Overheard our table next to us with the same problem!
The menu is quite innovative and deliciously prepared. As usual, our server, Evan, was outstanding. A thoroughly enjoyable dining experience.
To start, I have to say every time I have dinner at Virtu, I leave thinking it’s the very best food in Scottsdale/Phoenix! We started with the Polpo (octopus) which is brined and grilled to perfection. It has a wonderful flavor and texture of lobster. We then shared a seasonal pasta dish which is house made. My Italian husband informed me it was the best he’s ever had and would not be sharing it in the future. We also had the scallops which were fabulous. Finally, we topped it off with the chocolate sticky cake with salted caramel gelato. UNBELIEVABLE! I have no criticism and would urge anyone to enjoy a meal here!
Best restaurant ever!
Loved it. Amazing service and great food. Lovely ambience. Made for a very very nice night out in Scottsdale.
This is the best restaurant in Arizona! Incredible food, incredible service, incredible experience.
What a beautiful setting and ambiance! Food outstanding; nothing like it even in NYC
What a gem! We loved the food and the service. The staff was friendly and very knowledgeable. Would definitely come back and also recommend to friends.
A pure gem. I lived in the south of France and this restaurant reminded me of so many French and Italian eateries.
Inside dining room was very loud and made it difficult for the two of us to hear each other.
Perfect -- everything!
Last time I was here was restaurant week in 2017. Restaurant has gotten quite popular since then and I couldn’t believe how many people were crammed in the restaurant. Definitely not a quiet intimate setting during restaurant week. Food was spectacular.
Some of the most creative cuisine in the state. And also, a great patio.
Fantastic experience from beginning to end. Food was outstanding. Our server Ivan was knowledgeable, professional and helpful. phenomenal. Can’t wait to return.
Amazing first time experience at Virtu. We dined during the Arizona dining week and chose to do the $44 3 course meal option. Every item and bite were delicious. We will go back if we return to Scottsdale. Ambiance is perfect.
The setting was lovely. The food was disappointing. The bread in the panzanella was so hard it was inedible. The polpo, which we’d heard great things about, was a perfect texture but WAY over salted. Maybe the quality was affected by the fact that it was restaurant week?
We had a wonderful experience. It was restaurant week and the options were perfect. I thought the waiter was knowledgeable and very pleasant.
First...Out door seating is the best. Soft lighting, and a beautiful and romantic setting.
Server was extremely knowledgable about every selection, including the wine list.
The food was James Beard quality in taste, presentation and originality.
This is our new favorite spot for special events.
What an excellent evening. Nathan, our server, was friendly and professional. The restaurant itself is a real gem with the ambiance of a fine European bistro. Seating in the courtyard was perfect. Regarding the "Restaurant Week" menu, must say the the octopus preparation elevated this plate to a higher level of deliciousness seldom reached with this sea creature. The other dishes we had were all tasty and well prepared. All in all, a very fine evening.
My favorite was first course. I choose the burrata, leek and prosciutto plate. It was heavenly and I ate every bite. I choose Mediterranean sea bass for the entree and it was cooked perfectly, buttery and light. I was less pleased with the accompaniments. From my experience, most chefs have difficulties with eggplant. I got to try agretti, but wasn't fond of it. My dessert was the sticky toffee cake, popular there, and it was decadent and rich, with salted caramel gelato. Perhaps, I should have chosen a lighter dessert though. They didn't have the type of wine I wanted, but they do have a large selection.
Restaurant week in Scottsdale and figured that service and food would not be up to the normal standards of this fine restaurant. Well, happy to report that I was off base on both accounts. Hope that you can experience this true culinary delight if you are in the old town area. Weather permitting (which it was not) it would be nice to sit outside. As Arnold would say....we'll be back!
First time here, lived up to the hype. Sat outdoors on the nice enclosed narrow patio, a bit quieter than if I'd been inside. Started with the "Calabrian Sunsset" cocktail, fruity/spicy... MANY cocktail choices, also good list of straight up single-malts, bourbons, etc., plus a whole slew of amaro options. They have a not-too-extensive (AND not-too-expensive) selection of wines by the glass - I had a decent tempranillo that went well with my rich food. Then I began with the night's "crudo" offering, filet tartare topped with an egg yolk... but a special deep orange yolk, obtained from local chickens fed diets including red peppers... very pretty as well as classic flavor and texture. Next had the signature "polpo": grilled octopus, exactly as billed, with lemon-marinated chickpeas, a swatch of chile butter, a small side salad of arugula and fennel, and a sprinkle of balsamic... but here's the great part: the tenderness of the octopus. To me it was comparable to king crab claws in texture, really unique compared to any octopus I've had elsewhere. Per my waiter, it's acheived by marinating the meat in liquid with used wine corks! Something about the enzymes, I was told. Whatever... it was great. For my main course I had smoked duck breast. The waiter did ask about the degree of doneness I preferred, which I appreciated, as my experience with duck is often that "rare" means "wet and chewy". Well, I needn't have feared that here: I asked for it to come just a little more than rare, and it was perfect, and could have been more purely rare and it would have been fine. The smoking process "set" the meat all the way through, great color, marvelous texture and mouthfeel, and because it was not overdone it tasted like duck! The sides of brussels sprouts and some polenta, appropriately cooked and herbed/spiced, were nicely complementary. Ended w housemade butterscotch pudding with a stripe of warm butterscotch on the side and a sweet digestif. Definitely a winner!
It was our anniversary and we made an early reservation at 6 so that we could get a nice table outdoors. We’re told that all outdoor tables were reserved beginning at 7, so we’d need to sit inside. We were then presented the worst table in the restaurant right in the traffic lane for the kitchen/servers, etc....there shouldn’t even be a table in that location. It took some doing, but we were eventually provided another table indoors. Dinner was ok, we left at 7:30 only to see numerous outdoor tables unoccupied.....frustrating.
The food was fantastic, as was the atmosphere. The octopus was worth the hype. Will definitely be back for dinner.
