Excellent food and service, creative menu with strong influence from Mediterranean . Wine list in some cases was off the charts in price, but certainly other good choices to order. I would certainly go back.
I have been a fan of this place since it opened. Last year, I brought my senior service pup in for a birthday brunch. I was received wonderfully, they catered to me and the pup and we sat outside under a heating lamp. The chef brought out some blueberries and bacon with a candle fused to the plate for her. It was really memorable and special. This year I decided to book the same venue, bring a friend, and celebrate again. The service is no longer the same, our server was dressed in jeans and a flannel. The ambiance and decor, however are superb. I had saved up my OpenTable points to cash in on a gift card here. I traded my 5000 points for a $60 which was attached to my reservation. It's worth mentioning that I did spend quite a bit here, it wasn't as if I came in and just wanted to redeem just the $60. We ordered the most expensive item on the menu which was the $130 sirloin platter, alongside cocktails, and three appetizers. When it came time to check out the code from my app had disappeared and I tried asking the server about it being applied to the bill. She told me I had to speak with a manager. That's where the night was really ruined. This was my first time, and last, dealing with Mateo. He's the front manager of the restaurant, and incredibly rude. He told me there was nothing he could do and I needed to contact OpenTable, and I tried to explain that it was attached to the reservation and showed him the email. He didn't care and said I had to call them. Embarrassed at this point, we paid and I got in my car and called OpenTable. They confirmed the reward was attached to the reservation and gave me instructions on what to do. I called Mateo and said I had the code that he so reluctantly wanted to help me find. He then proceeded to tell me that I needed to drive back to the restaurant to show him the code. I declined, gave it to him over the phone and asked the $60 to be put back on the card since he now had the other $60. Frustrated, he agreed and hung up.
Food was good and innovative. Waiter was obnoxious though.
Virtu delivered on its promise of providing beautifully crafted food. Everything we ate was packed with complex flavors. Highly recommend.
Here in Scottsdale for a few days of vacation. A friend recommended this restaurant and it was wonderful! Amazing food and service from Nathan was excellent! Will be back.
The food is a highlight - attentive service is a huge plus.
Great food, as always. Wine list continues to improve
Authentic Italian food excellently prepared and served. The service was exceptional, as usual. An excellent choice for a night out to enjoy a great meal.
Ivan did an excellent job and knew the menu inside and out which really helped make our experience great!
It was a great restaurant. I was a little disappointed with such a limited menu (5-6 entree options) that they were out of the beef option. I ended up getting the pork, which was amazing.
What a wonderful restaurant! The service was outstanding as was everything we ordered. We had the Octopus, the burrata and the squid ink pasta. AMAZING! I can't wait to go back when I'm in Scottsdale!
We have always considered Virtu a great destination for special occasions, and have recommended it to friends and other family members on many occasions. This visit causes us to rethink our opinion of what had been one of our favorite restaurants.
The service, first of all, was professional and courteous, as always. We were greeted warmly, and our waiter was knowledgeable and made a sound wine recommendation.
The food, on the other hand, was a major disappointment. The asparagus appetizer, as always, was fantastic. Our experience went downhill from there, however. We both ordered the cassoulet with the duck breast. The duck breast was well prepared, medium rare, as promised. The cassoulet, on the other hand, was so salty as to be almost inedible. What should have been the highlight of our meal was instead the reason we both commented that we could have had a better meal had we stayed at home.
The other major complaint that I have is that the wine list offers very few "moderatly-priced" options. The prices overall are very high (knowing the retail price of many of the bottles on the wine list), with very few reasonable options. It would certainly be nice to have some lower-end, some mid-range, and some higher-end wines to choose from, rather than a few mid-range wines with all others being on the expensive side. Not having a corkage fee policy further limits ones options. We drank a very good bottle of wine, but paid $69 for a wine that retails for around $20. That is unacceptable.
The octopus app was amazing!
Chef accommodated special dietary needs. Wait staff extremely accomodating.
Food was deliciously, artfully plated. Server and ambience delightful...thank u!
One of our favorite meals EVER. So unique to Scottsdale. Thank you to our server Nathan!
Ivan our waiter was amazing. Great in conversation and really knew the menu. He helped and recommended us what would be great to order/try. We enjoyed everything we tried.
The pasta dish was WOW! So was the appetizer octopus. My wife loved the salad with the blue cheese taken off. We read about this restaurant in an article and since we love to try new places when we are here we came there. Will definitely recommend it to our friends and family who live here.
We will be back!!
Virtu is by far one of our favorite restaurants. When you sit outside you feel as if you are in a restaurant in Europe. It is charming and romantic. Even on the cooler nights they have situated heaters so that you are comfortable. There are also blankets if you need them. The food is outstanding as well. The variety, presentation and tastes are incredible. We bring many out of town guest there and they are shocked such a place exists in Scottsdale. Even better, we bring our local friends and they are even more impressed.
Great patio. The food is as food or better than anywhere I have eaten. I go there every time I am in town.
NYE 2019 was a great exp!!
We were very disappointed. We went to have an early (6P) New Years eve dinner before joining friends later in the evening. We were seated in a relatively high traffic area near the hostess stand and which did not provide much privacy. The food was not to our liking. The second course pasta offered two options, which we ordered one of each: the first was with a ossobuco ragu which was very salty, and the other was a squid-ink spaghetti that we did not like at all. For the main course, we ordered the scallops who's flavor was destroyed by an overpowering salsa relish, and the pork chop that had a gorgonzola fondue like sauce that we did not enjoy as well. The staff was great. The service was attentive. Unfortunately, the setting and the food was not what we expected.
My girlfriend and I were on vacation in Scottsdale (from NYC) and went to Virtu for dinner the night before New Years Eve. Overall we were very pleased with the restaurant. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the food and wine menu and was very attentive. The food was very good and the ambiance was good (low light, semi romantic but still lively). We would come back again.
SOOOOOOOO GOOOD!! Go here!!!
This is no question the best food in Scottsdale. I’m 100% shocked that they have not received a James Beard award. If you’re looking for a combination of high quality chef driven food and exceptional cocktail service this is your place. The Bartender’s personality is not what I would consider Friendly but he is incredibly talented.
These folks never miss—food is fantastic and service is always great. It is my go to Scottsdale restaurant with family, friends or for a business meal
Our server was excellent- friendly and knowledgeable and had great suggestions for appetizers and drinks.
Great food, great ambiance, better service....enough said
The service was really good, food was good, would not recommend it for a romantic dinner. Seating is real tight and noise level is really loud.
fantastic evening with great service and amazing food. Another great experience at Virtu, thank you
Great food, ambiance, service and dog friendly patio for brunch. Loved everything about it!
One of our top places to eat. The staff makes you feel right at home, food is interesting and unique. The ambience makes you feel like you are in a special place.
Everyone (4 of us) had something different for brunch yesterday, every dish was outstanding, unexpected, truly delicious!!! 2 of us headed to airport and back to truly ‘foodie’ cities (NYC and Portland) but we will all make return trips to Virtu!
Disappointing. The salsa-type sauce on the scallops was unappealing and the duck was underdone/tough. Too bad! A stylish place.
Service was uneven. Our waiter seemed keen to “upsell” us on dishes/courses we did not want, which felt pushy. Food was good but not great. One of my scallops was not properly seared.
The cuisine remains superb. Standouts were the polpo (octopus) and the burrata with the freshest prosciutto imaginable. It's a cozy, personalized retreat with great attention to detail.
This is a neighborhood gem. The food was amazing. We started with the octopus and steak tartare. Then had the scallops and the pasta was perfect. Server Lauren was delightful.
I hesitate to write a good review for Virtu because I don't want it to be discovered and get to busy to enjoy it! But besides my misgivings, this is one of the best restaurants I have been to in a while. The ambiance was great both inside and outside. The food was both interesting and amazing and the heavily Italian influenced wine list was absolutely insane. We love it so much we went for brunch the next day. Just go. You won't regret it.
The food and service was incredible. From the moment I sat down, to the wine, food and dessert, I felt taken care of. Highly recommend.
Night and Day between overcrowded inside and beautiful patio
