Ambiance and service were as expected. Ordered a vodka soda but was given tonic. The server quickly fixed the error. The polenta was unremarkable. The veal was cooked to medium as recommended by the chef but was rather dry and the farinata was flavorless. The Polpo was tender but very salty, but the sauce was good. The Italian coffee was absolutely delicious as was the sticky toffee chocolate cake. I would recommend going for desert, but the first two courses were unimpressive.
This dinner at Virtu was one of the better meals I've had in a long time. We went for Restaurant Week ($44 for a three-course meal) and it was really a remarkable experience. At the recommendation of our server, we started with the grilled octopus with chickpeas and Calabrian chile butter. Awesome! It was not part of the Restaurant Week menu, but it was an excellent addition and it is a must-try dish. Then, we continued with a couple of starters off the special menu -- a swordfish skewer and a polenta dish -- both of which were fabulous. For dinner, we had the roasted duck dish (with charred peaches, etc.) and the sea bass dish (which came with sunchokes, chorizo, etc) and, again, they were both amazing. Finally, the desserts.....oh, the desserts. We had the butterscotch pudding and the chocolate cake. Tough to say which was better, but they were both fantastic. And, on top of the food, I will say the service was exceptional. The servers at Virtu clearly grasp the concept of service and we had a number of different employees who were happy to help clear plates, bring new plates, explain the various dishes, and take drink orders. Stellar service all the way around. We'll be back!
Food was excellent; service and pacing less so. I did not realize it was Restaurant Week when I reserved, so maybe that impacted the experience, but that translated into limited menu options and very rushed service. Our appetizer arrived before the cocktails we ordered several minutes before, and that plate was no sooner finished when the next course appeared. 4 courses were served and hastily eaten in just over an hour-not the fine dining experience expected. But rushed as it was, each plate was a winner, so if the service gets some tuning, the food is worth a visit.
It was an amazing dinner all around. Thank you Matt fit great service and the food was delicious!
We had a wonderful celebration of our 16th Anniversary at Virtu. We enjoyed the unique food, beautiful presentation and our waiter Nathan was attentive and helpful on dinner choices.
The food and service are great. This is a perfect place for a casual night out or a special occasion. One of our favorite spots to eat.
Food was delicious, service was excellent and the place is very nice.
amazing!!!!!! can't say anything more. i wished i lived closer! would go all the time!
We had a great experience. The food was outstanding. Our waiter, Ivan, was delightful and made excellent recommendations. We were seated just outside the open doors of the structure. The noise was loud coming from the inside but OK just outside. It would have been better to be slightly farther away from the doors. The place was packed and the noise inside must have been deafening.
Patient staff, explained each dish in detail. Great attention to service. 5 diners, 3 courses, each dish outstanding. Very memorable!
Small quaint restaurant . Small menu. Which is good and quality food. I’m always amazed at the cocktail charges, but
Server was efficient not as engaging as I would have liked. Would return
We had a group of seven and the service and food was spectacular.
The wait staff did an excellent job of making sure our table had all the drinks they desired. The scallops were a bit mushy. Everything else was pretty fabulous!
Good food and service. Cramped dining very noisy but would still recommend
This is a wonderful restaurant. Every time we are in Phoenix we make time to dine here. The food is creative and excellent.
Great meal and atmosphere! Two couples and we shared multiple small plates, pastas and entrees. All were great.
An absolute must when visiting Phoenix! Virtu is a transformational dining experience that is completely submerged in a setting that permeates class and understated elegance. Service is punctuated with outstanding service members who appear to be driven by quality and experience in which they can easily suggest a menu item with quantified firsthand experience.
Delicious food, creative and unique. My only criticism is that our waiter was very pushy in his suggestions of ordering additional dishes and dessert to the point of making me uncomfortable because I had to repeatedly say no thank you.
This was our second time at restaurant. The food was not great. Appetizers were so-so but the main (fish) was poor. It was not fresh and over cooked. Bread was terrible.
The service was excellent as before. We will write off our poor meal to a bad night in the kitchen and give Virtu another shot.
As always outstanding!
Every plate was exquisite and beautifully prepared. Our server Mateo was attentive and articulated the plate preparation and even cocktails masterfully. The only sticking point with my husband was that we were asked to vacate our table before dessert because of another reservation. They transferred us to the back waiting area which was completely dark with overgrown foliage where we had to wait for a long time just to get service for dessert. Virtu is absolutely our favorite restaurant but we were just a bit surprised how this was mis-handled. May be it was an anomaly!
Great spot, will be back. Octopus is delicious as a shared starter.
Amazingly fresh, well-crafted food. Highly recommend for brunch on the patio.
We had a lovely time dining at Virtu! The food was phenomenal. The service was outstanding, and the wine selection was great! We will definitely be back to dine here again.
Amazing experience!! Very knowledgeable server. Wonderful ambience.
I took my wife here for our anniversary. From the moment we walked in their attention to detail was on point. It's very refreshing going out to a restaurant where they have thought of practically everything. Service was great, food was outstanding(and I cook for a living). We will be back.
The food was great, the waiter was Awesome, and the place is very cozy and inviting!
Second visit in 2 weeks , food is a pleasure .
The pulpo is a must .
We dined here for lunch on a Thursday so it was very quiet and probably a totally different experience than if we had gone for dinner. We had the burger and the grilled cheese with fig and prosciutto. Both were delicious!! Sitting on the patio and eating here was a great start to our Scottsdale vacation.
Fantastic lemon ricotta pancakes and cherries!!! Loved them!
I’ve had at least three people recommend Virtu and am so glad I finally tried it. It is a hidden gem in Scottsdale. The service was excellent and beat many other local restaurants in this price point. The food was incredible. Every bite was delicious and the proportions were pretty good, especially the pork chop. My mom got that and shared a lot of it with me. I had the scallops and loved them. Everything was fantastic except we originally had our reservation for inside because I was nervous it would be too hot outside. The inside is very small and it was loud the evening we were there. My mom is hard of hearing and we had to move outside to be able to speak with each other. They found us another table and we were good from there. Highly recommend to everyone!!
We had a wonderful meal. Food was great and the ambiance was fantastic. We sat outside and enjoyed the evening.
Wonderful dinner. Perfect evening weather. Waiter very helpful and well versed in what was being served.
Food was amazing with the chocolate “cake” desert the only disappointment. Service wa slow at times but worth the wait. Nice and welcome selection of wines by the half bottle . Will return.
Family in from Michigan. Great meal and great service! Halibut and Asparagus with egg and bacon chunks were amazing. So glad the service got back to being great again!
Everything we tried was amazing! Very cute spot for a date night on the patio!
Wonderful restaurant! We had a large group for a celebration and had the best dinner ever. We enjoyed the octopus, tartare, swordfish special, bistecca, spaghetti, and one of each of the desserts (it was a celebration after all). Our server Evan was fantastic and even helped plan/facilitate our after-dinner adventures. Thanks for the memorable evening!
The swordfish special was amazing!!
This is a great little restaurant. The wait staff are attentive and well-informed. The food was absolutely delicious. Their Polpo preparation might be the best I've ever had. Every dish was creative and well executed.
The food was outstanding as well as the service. The ambience is perfect.
