Forced to sit outside even though the res stated standard seating. Hostess said no available seating inside even though at least three tables were empty during our entire visit. Too many flies outside, plus it was too hot.
Amazing! Absolutely amazing. Brunch and dinner. Everything is excellent.
I have several food allergies and am always a bit concerned to come to a fine dining establishment and to ask for 'modifications' to meet my dietary needs. The website was warm and welcoming and so I selected this restaurant to celebrate my sister's special birthday. The restaurant has a more intimate feel and the outdoor seating was very comfortable and charming. The menu is small and so I immediately honed in on the entrée selection that I thought might work for me. And then I saw the words on the bottom of the menu that warned that they can not accommodate gluten free nor nut allergies (which is not my allergy). When I mentioned to my waiter that I had a food allergy and explained what it was - he was immediately helpful and agreed that my selection would be the most obvious choice. When we ordered the asparagus appetizer -which my three companions ooh and aah-d over - we were not told "but this has the ingredient to which you are allergic". So I just skipped it - but it might have been nice to be coached that we might want a different shared appetizer or should I order my own. When our entrees arrived everything was beautiful and delicious. I had the scallops with lentil sauce. All of us enjoyed our dinners thoroughly. Drinks were creative. Dessert was unbelievably delicious (the Chocolato with Salted Caramel Gelato). All in all - I would not hesitate to return. But if you like to make a lot of special requests not for severe allergic reasons - this would not be a good choice for you. You need to want to experience the flavors as the Chef intended. Which were amazing.
Ah-mazing food, service & ambiance!! Impressed & very satisfied with everything tonight!!!
Highly recommend both the food and the cocktails (Amaro Viale was my favorite). Aside from a few staples the menu changes frequently - my server said every 6 weeks on average. The asparagus with duck egg and the smoked duck were both phenomenal. I am not one to usually take pictures of my food, but these dishes deserved it!
Great atmosphere. Great food - loved the octopus appetizer. Great service.
Great food, unique, out-of-the-way spot South of Old Town. Has a really great (small) brunch menu - Pork Ragu is easily one of my favorite breakfast bowls.
The food, atmosphere AND Service are always wonderful here! Love this place!
Wonderful and unexpected. So much fun to try the creative and thoughtful cocktails and bites. Appetizers were the highlight!
As always, the weekly menu never falls short.
Service (Mateo) was out standing, wine food and more.
A great Anniversary experience.
I made the resevation thru open table and requested patio seating. I know OT does not guarantee that, but I should be notified in some way that my request would not be honored. It is the first time with OT that I have had this problem. Restaurant claims that they are not notified by OT of my request and that I have to call in person. They actually said I would be better off not using OT. If my request cannot be honored, I should have been notified when they confirmed my reservation the day before. The inside of the restaurant is so loud that you cannot hear the server going over the menu. We knew that from previous visits is why we made the request for outside. They did not try to accommodate us in any way. I would not call deafening noise in the restaurant "Energetic". I showed them on my phone where the request had been made. I got the feeling that they totally ignored it.
Another strange item was an dinner special . It was a piece of swordfish that they would not split up and would only serve it to a group of three to four people , because it was so large. Does that make sense? Good luck finding that table.
There is an attitude about this restaurant that we have seen develop over the last several years and has led us to the decision that we will not be going back. They obviously do not care, but with 37 new restaurants opening in March, we wish them continued success. But not on our dime.
Yes, we did talk to the manager, but to no avail. It appears that OT needs to notify the user if outdoor cannot be accommodated. If I have to call to confirm that, why use OT?
Had a great meal with a fun environment and great service.
Beautiful setting and excellent service. The food was outstanding. We really enjoyed our evening there
This was the finest dining experience we encountered during our stay in Scottsdale. We sat outside and while it got chilly when the sun went down, they did offer patrons blankets which was a nice gesture. The service was very pleasant and while they are pricey the service isn’t pretentious so I liked that. The food was very good. Full of different flavors. My wife and I shared a bottle of wine with our meal. The best part for me was the dessert. It was a sticky toffee cake and it was so decadent. After dinner we took our wine to sit near an elegant outdoor fire pit to warm us up. Overall it was a great experience and when I find myself in the area again I will definitely return to dine here.
We loved dining at Virtu. The food was so delicious. The menu is small which we love. The chef changes the offerings daily which means only the freshest food. Our server was so knowledgeable and gracious. She made our night even more enjoyable. She is very passionate about “Chef” and the food he serve. Her enthusiasm was wonderful. We highly recommend Virtu anyone visiting Scottsdale.
First time at Virtu, wife's birthday.
Creative cocktails - Tremendous
Appetizer - shared with my wife, again don't remember the name and it is off the menu this evening. A cheese and prosciutto invention, spectacular.
Main Event - we shared the Bistecca Tagliata, a 40 oz. Tomahawk Rib Eye. Mixed feelings about this one.
The steak itself was excellent, presented in a sea of greens. $125 for the steak was more than we would normally spend on an entree at $62.50 each, but we felt that a 40 oz. steak would leave quite a bit to take home for later. That was not the case as we consumed it all and were hard pressed to understand how the meal originated at 40 ounces as neither of us are huge eaters.
Desert - complimentary birthday offering that was excellent and much appreciated
Accompanied by a really great 2012 Napa Cabernet, $$
Service - Our server (boy I dislike that term) was truly excellent and on top of everything without being too much. Wish I could also remember her name. Long brown hair, glasses.
Great personality, very helpful, warm, and friendly. Twice, people who were assigned to other tables passed and saw to refilling our drinks and meeting whatever temporary need that they saw. Very good management when you see this
Ambience - We were seated inside which has too many small tables crammed into a very tight place.
In addition, it is a relatively live small room, and we had a few tables occupied by some very large voices. Try to eat outside, it looks more comfortable. Tough environment this evening as the winds were heavy for eating outdoors.
All in all the event was an exceptional dining experience, just felt a bit underwhelmed by the price of the steak for what was received.
We were just in town for the evening and wanted a James Beard-level dinner. Virtu Honest Craft certainly delivered a wonderful evening, from drinks through dessert.
Visiting a new city, we always look for restaurants that specialize in outstanding dining. Virtu Honest Craft delivers outstanding cuisine. We liked the food and the ambiance so much, that we went back the following night. Every item we had was superlative in its taste, presentation and creativity. Now we have to find a reason for a trip back to Phoenix!
Food and ambience wonderful, as usual. One of our favorite spots.
Virtu is a gem of a restaurant in a city full of restaurants. The space is inviting and focussed on outdoor dining. Having eaten there twice, and having visited other notable restaurants in Scottsdale, my favorite aspect of Virtu is that the staff is the most knowledgeable of the winelist of all the venues I have visited in Scottsdale. This outing, our server actually compiled the wine list. When you figure that any wine in a restaurant is (along with all alcohols) the most heavily marked-up item on the menu, this is a every important trait for any restaurant to have.
Wow, do not find too many places where I am compelled to write a review. The service is excellent but most important the menu and cuisine is out of this world. It is a small menu which I like because each item is unique and simply amazing. We spent our 14th wedding anniversary here and would come back for sure. If you are looking for a high-end experience that is not just another steakhouse this is it. I would come here again over all the top steakhouses, fine dining and we have been to them all in Scottsdale. Not to bash other establishments but most have the same old thing, done slightly different.
This one of my favorite resturants in the Old Town Scottsdale area. Great for a date or special occasion. The food and cocktails are AMAZING!!!
If you are a foodie, you will enjoy this experience. Eclectic, authentic, and tasty!
We had such a great time! I wish I could remember the waiters name because he was fabulous!! The patio seating was perfect... Can't wait to go back again!!!
Our 2nd time at Virtu - and just as memorable as the 1st two years ago. (I would be a regular if I lived in Scottsdale).
The courtyard outdoor dining can't be beat. If you choose a time when half your meal is in daylight and the 2nd half after it gets dark - you get two experiences in one fantastic evening.
Beautiful patio great food and fabulous service. I will be back. Worth every penny!
We enjoyed a fantastic brunch with family and friends on the patio. Each plate was amazing! We enjoyed a variety of dishes like the octopus, savory crepes, grilled cheese and burgers. The service was great and the cocktails refreshing. We look forward to trying the dinner menu next time we are in town.
Brunch with a girlfriend and it was lovely! Food was delish as were the cocktails. Cute patio too. Our server was on point with everything as well :)
Great seasonal farm to table eating fit for foodies. Highly recommend
Everything was exceptional! Best meal i've had in a very long time.
If you want a memorable meal in Scottsdale, Virtu is a must. We’ve always thought Scottsdale had many good restaurants, but never anything great. Can’t say that anymore.
Great food! Great service! Attentive staff! It was my husband's birthday and to our surprise each person that attended our table wished him a happy birthday! Fantastic birthday cake surprise! Totally delicious experience! It was obvious the entire staff strived to provide a memorable dining experience!
A truly wonderful dining experience. Excellent service, beautiful patio, out-of-this-world cocktails. The appetizers and desserts were the standouts (octopus, crispy pig ears, butterscotch pot de creme, toffee cake). We were a group of five and they made our evening super special.
This is a gem of a restaurant! For those who value food adventures! Not a run of the mill Italian restaurant but definitely a showpiece for the Calabrese chef and his very dedicated staff. I liken it to eating at the chef’s home. The vegetables were fresh and creatively prepared. The fish was perfect. My fellow diners raved about the fresh pasta. If we lived in the area, we’d put this on a weekly list because we understand the menu changes weekly except for a few standards. I’ll make my reservation for next year at the same time I book my flight!
Great Birthday Dinner! Wonderful service
Clearly a James Beard winner. Food was fresh, creative and just amazing flavors. A great dining experience. Our waiter was very well versed on this complex menu .
The Halibut dish was dry and poorly cooked.
The polpo was awful. I eat octopus quite often and it was the worst I have ever had. The lamb cheeks were tasty as were the scallops. Overall I think for almost $200 for what equated to a few appetizer portions and an overpriced bottle of Barbera...meh. Plenty of places in town with creative food that actually taste good with better value.
Very disappointing. The polpo was excellent and my pasta dish was very creative. However, my husband’s pasta plate was mostly a miss and heavily over spiced. The service was mostly a miss and we spent long periods of time staring at finished plates. Dessert was served with an empty beer bottle still on the table although it had been emptied early in the meal. Lighting was not romantic but just too dim. Hard to see what we were eating and had to use our phones flashlights to view the bill. Trendy yes but way too many misses. Notable fail when compared to experience at Fat Ox several nights before where meal was beautifully prepared and service was impeccable. So disappointed. I complained to the seater on the way out but she seemed surprised. We were a few minutes early and had to wait to be seated for 630 and in fact we’re seated much later.
