Tomato soup was so salty that we couldn’t even eat it and they didn’t take it off the bill after we told the server. The house salad had no flavor at all...tasted like water. The server was very forget. Had to remind her multiple times for things we asked for. I wouldn’t go back.
Pimento cheese and blt sandwich was amazing! Highly recommend and great service for Sunday brunch.
Octavia our server was wonderful. So helpful and friendly. Attentive but not too much. Our brunch was soooo good! The shrimp and grits so flavorful, the chicken, eggs and biscuit was amazing, pancakes were lite and fluffy, the egg bowl was yummy, the Charleston Cuban was delicious and the crab Benny was so full of crab and tasty. Oh and the Bloody Marys were just the right amount of spicy. All in all a wonderful meal! Highly recommend.
Delicious food and great service. We will definitely be back!
I went totally Southern, fried chicken, collards, grits, banana pudding. Everything was fantastic, bringing back memories of my mom and grandmom's cooking. Staff was great.
Lets start with the good, the Pimento cheese appetizer was very good and enjoyed by all. In general an ok place, but we were seated relatively close to the door and got chills every time the door opened. Service was lackluster. Ordered brunch and found the food to be fairly basic. Would never order the pancakes again. Served luke warm, dry and had to ask for syrup and they give you a tiny bit for 2 plate size cakes. Waiter raved about the home fries and they were good, but plain and serving size was on the small side. Likely won't be a first choice for us in the future.
Excellent attentive service and delicious Southern homestyle cooking. Reasonably priced too!
Amazing and I’ll be back again! The food, customer service, and view were excellent
Awesome food and service. Loved the Grits!
We wanted a restaurant in walking distance with southern cuisine. Virginia’s has it all!
Warmly greeted when we arrived. Appetizer of pimento cheese, crackers and cucumbers was good - nothing spectacular but solid. Cocktails were good. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak and it was good but the two sides - green beans and mashed potatoes were not not even luke warm - had they been hot they might have been better. I ordered the Tuesday night fried chicken. It was a huge serving of chicken but just OK - nothing great. My sides - collard greens and mashed potatoes - were disappointing. They were served at room temperature and the flavor was just meh. I gave the experience 4 stars because of the service, ambience and value.
It seemed only one waiter was actually waiting tables while the other 3-4 wandered around.
Inviting space with nice, competent servers. Brunch was nothing spectacular but dinner menu sounds wonderful. Will try for dinner.
Great location, nice smaller size restaurant. Our server was great, kids liked it as well. This is the first time we tried Virginia’s and we’re looking for a more family oriented restaurant that the kids would enjoy as well. On the causal aide as well which was good for them.
Server could not answer basic questions about the menu and how dishes were prepared. Food just OK. Expected a more upscale place that close to Marion Square. Will not be back, many, many other choices.
Chicken was amazing ! Service was top notch . Great meal thank you Virginia’s for your southern hospitality!
Food was acceptable - one dish was cold but others were hot to warm. Wait staff, Parker, was very good. Environment was cold - it was cold outside and cold inside! Maybe I would recommend to a friend depending on what they were looking for.
Everything was wonderful!
Best collards ever!
The service was not what I would have expected for a restaurant downtown and the fried chicken had absolutely no flavor. I could have gotten better tasting chicken at a fast food restaurant. Definitely not worth the price.
Had lunch for my birthday here. Server was very sweet. Food was southern cookin' comfort food, very good on a cold day.
Good Southern comfort food well done. Fried chicken, chicken pot pie, Cuban sandwich and excellent sides like squash casserole or Mac and Cheese that’s gooey good!
Location is tops, great spot to people (and car) watch.
We were seated quickly. Our waiter was pleasant, however, it took a long time to get our food, which wasn't anything special. My frided green tomatoes were undercooked and my husband's eggs were not served the way he had asked for. Biscuits were good, and coffee very strong, if that's the way you like it. Could hardly here each other with the noise level. Won't go back.
First time there, Food AND SERVICE was EXCELLENT, we'll be back!
We had a fabulous brunch at Virginia’s. We would highly recommend to anyone looking for a charming Charleston experience.
Very accommodating changing reservation when we showed up with 3 additional people in our group but we were first ones in the door for brunch and we received our meal after many who came in after us. Staff was very friendly and food was very good.
We wanted good southern food and Virginia's did not disappoint. We are from Colorado, so we really don't know what it should have tasted like, but we were in taste bud heaven. The fried green tomatoes and okra were the best I have ever eaten. I usually peel the fried coating off but after trying a bit of it, I couldn't get enough. The coating is so flavorful. The tomato pie was unbelievably decadent. I am a collard greens lover, but I usually need to put some vinegar on them for a bit more flavor. Virginia's were so delicious, I didn't need to add anything and I only left one bite for my husband to try them because I couldn't stop eating them. Amazingly satisfying food!
Excellent service, nice atmosphere, and delicious food.
Wow! My wife and I frequent Virginia's since we are locals. We normally love it, which is why we go, but something was missing this time. I've had most of the menu but never had the shrimp and grits. Bad choice. 4 medium sized shrimp were in my bowl, some sausage and lots of peppers/onions. I can't remember for sure but, I think, we also normally receive some complimentary bread or cornbread at Virginias and if so, that has stopped. My wife got the vegetable plate and the squash casserole had little squash. An underwhelming experience this time around. We may try again to see if it was just a bad night but that will be a challenge since there are so many options on that end of King Street.
People tell us to go to Leon's now for good southern food. Portion size of chicken pot pie could have served 4 not 1
First time visit was more than satisfactory. We would visit again to try different menu items. Very convenient to the theater.
Staff is friendly. Food is delicious! Will definitely return.
Delicious, great service.
Wonderful time! They were so sweet to me on my birthday! Loved going on their fried chicken night! Was so delicious! Highly recommend!
We completely enjoyed our birthday celebration at Virginia’s last night. The Chicken Pot Pie was the size of a whole pie and so delicious our friend went back and tipped the chef. We also enjoyed the pork chop, it was thick and juicy, and the salad dressing was spicy and delicious. On top of that we were treated to a birthday dessert with a candle to blow out!
Our server was thoughtful and very personable. We had a lovely time.
Great place, the service, atmosphere, the people. Love that place.
Great place and food. Tara and staff were terrific.
The food was good but it’s not someplace I would say that I just had to go back too.
