Great food and wonderful service
Very disappointed from previous visits. Had out of town guest and none of dinners were up to par.
The entrees are authentic "down-home" fares. We had the Chicken Fried Steak with sides and the Chicken and Dumplings. Delicious!
Wonderful experience. Had breakfast with a friend, both of us were first timers. The food was great!! Heard they were known for their fried chicken, so I had the fried chicken biscuit. It was cooked perfectly. Our waiter Jake was very sweet, and informative in regards to the restaurant’s history, and all the staff were very friendly, and helpful!!
Unfortunately, my least liked dinner experience in all of my Charleston dinners. Food was ok, service not so good. Asked for Sauv Blanc, received Pinot Grigio. Couldn't get our server back to give us more water. Overall, it was just "eh".
Food quality was not great but service was great
Excited to be able to get a seat at the bar without a wait but ultimately Virginia’s on King seem to be very average
the bartenders were all overworked as are the servers and the hostess
the food tasted amazing but overall the experience was less than spectacular
and as a regular diner out, ultimately I was disappointed in the lack of spectacularNess of the experience
also the bathroom was disgustingly dirty which seems to be completely inappropriate in Charleston at a world famous restaurant
Food was good - but food prep wasn’t working. 6 in our party. 4 people ordered the deviled eggs. 2 plates came, then 5 min later another one. Last deviled eggs came after everyone else had entrees. 2 people ordered she crab soup bowl. One came and the other person had to wait 10 min. With entrees, they came out all staggered. Last entree came when others were nearly finished with their entree.
We went to Virginia's on King for Sunday brunch. They take reservations which is always a plus for me. Our server was very helpful and attentive and the food was very good. Fantastic ambiance too. We'll be back.
Charming atmosphere. Service a model of southern hospitality. The food superb. Pimento cheese appetizer was delicious. I had been craving fried chicken since I'd arrived in Charleston and I'm glad I had it here. Succulent and super crispy! I'd love to come back and try another of the tempting entrees on the menu.
Really enjoyed the crab cakes!!! Really good meal and service made for a Really good evening!!!
Excellent tomato pie. Good southern eating!
Short Staff and for a place known for fried chicken it was way over cooked.
Great location on the corner. We had a nice view. It was my wife's birthday, so the staff were very attentive. The meal was great, and we even received a complimentary dessert !!
The server wasn’t the most attentive and the food was okay. The cornbread was rather flavorless and the meals were southern style but didn’t wow us.
Virginia's on King is our favorite southern cuisine restaurant. This was our second visit to Charleston and we had about 4-5 meals there while we visited the area. Every one of our meals was excellent. The food is always fresh and delicious. Chris always comes around and makes everyone feel welcome. Liza served us breakfast one day and it was a pleasure to have her as our server. We highly recommend Virginia's to anyone visiting Charleston, SC.
Very limited menu. Pork chop was not cooked through. Not even a bread basket or salad offered.
Our server was fantastic!
Fried chicken was great. Service was great. The seating was quick. What else could you want.
The food was delicious and the service friendly and attentive
Really enjoyed our lunch at "Virginia's on King." The friend green tomatoes were outstanding! So were the cheesy grits! And, of course, the fried chicken was perfection! Even the background music was so nostalgic ~ oldies!! YAY!!
The staff was friendly & accommodating. Very comfortable atmosphere. Would surely recommend!
Nice breakfast on a Monday.
Went for Sunday brunch with the kids. Service was excellent but unfortunately the food was so over cooked it was hard to tell if it was well seasoned otherwise. I’ll definitely give it another shot but whoever was manning the protein and fryer stations was leaving everything on/in a little too long when we went.
Chicken too salty and burned. Perhaps they need to change the oil more often. Chicken portions were small. Deviled eggs overpriced for one whole egg.
Slightly overpriced southern cuisine / home cooking. Ordered salads and entrees were out before we were halfway done - about 10 min. Server was a nice polite guy.
Great breakfast. I had Virginia’s special fried chicken, scrambled eggs with Swiss cheese on a biscuit. Definitely can share this one.
You will not leave hungry!
Great personal service, delicious food, beautiful surroundings
Good ole Southern Hospitality! Wonderful service and food! :)
A little disappointed in our meal. This was the first time I’ve eaten at Virginia’s in a couple of years and it wasn’t as good as it use to be. We had the fried pickled okra, which was good, and the southern “poutine”. We lived in Canada for 4 years so we were delighted to see it on the menu. Sadly, it was not our favorite. The mixture of sausage gravy and cheese didn’t go over well. I had the fried oyster salad and was disappointed. The oysters would have been wonderful except they were over salted, and the greens were over dressed. Although we were disappointed in our brunch, we will give it a try again later. Hopefully, they will be back on track.
This is a must !! But please make a reservation especially for Brunch !!! The food, service and hospitality are number 1.
The service was on par. The fried chicken was great. However, the fish and grits was heavily breaded but was good. Good wine menu. I would revisit and recommend.
Decent after a night of drinking
Celebrated our twin daughters’ birthdays - very accommodating staff, good food and a great setting.
The shrimp & grits were awesome. The chicken biscuit looked wonderful- my husband said it was! Great place for Sunday Brunch except no Bloody Marys! The mimosas were great!
Great homemade food. Owner came over to check on us as well as many other people. Prices were very reasonable.
Went to VOK for brunch with friends after a bachelorette evening out. I had the two eggs any style meal with grits and a biscuit. Grits were full of flavor and only needed a little hot sauce for my liking. Bought a magnum bottle of mimosas for the table as well. Octavia our server did a wonderful job and will be back again to see y’all again soon!
Southern home cooking at it's finest! . I had the country fried steak. This was fried to perfection and was over an inch thick. This was not a thin pounded out patty you get from those other breakfast franchises. I was impressed.
