Virginia's on King

Service was superb! Server was attentive and made recommendations.
Love this spot. The food is still delicious after all that it's gone through and it's convenient to hotels.
We really enjoy this place. It is intimate but not crowded. It was Mother's Day and it was a bit busier than we had seen before, but we had a reservation and promptly seated. My wife had the crab cakes with poached eggs and Hollandaise sauce. I had the fried chicken biscuit. I'm not big on crab or Hollandaise sauce, but both were amazing. I will try them myself next time. It was busy but the service was quick and friendly. A little louder than usual, but not overwhelming. This has become our new favorite place in Charleston.
I was extremely disappointed. We’ve been to many restaurants in Charleston and unfortunately Virginia’s is bottom of my
List. The service wasn’t good-very slow and the food was mediocre (at best) for the cost. I would not recommend.
First time at Virginia’s. Loved the southern meal. Food was excellent.
Great Friday lunch. Would recommend
First time here as we were going to a concert at the Charleston Music Hall. It was very convenient to the venue. The food wsd great, especially the sides. The cornbread is like desert and was unlike any cornbread I have ever had. Danielle our server was the best!!
The service was good, efficient. The waitress was attentive and the food came out fast. The food was average. The tables were small and the chairs uncomfortable (for a 8 month pregnant lady).
Always a favorite. My kids are finally getting big enough that they enjoy "Real food" and this is now their favorite brunch place.
We enjoyed it very much. They were out of the country fried steak that my wife had her heart set on but the manager worked his magic and had the chef pound out a steak to make my wife's order.
Our waitress Rachel was charming and efficient. That made up for the fact that we were unapologetically seated at a booth for four even though there were five of us and had a reservation.
Food was quite good
Ambiance was a bit run down and pub like
The food was average and chicken an dumplings was average for the price.
Great she-crab soup, shrimp and grits!
This was our first time eating at Virginia's. The atmosphere in the restaurant was very nice. We ate lunch and the noise level was lower than most restaurants so we could enjoy our conversation. The food was very good-pimento cheese BLT (very large , thick sandwich) and shrimp poor boy. There was a mistake in the order but it was quickly resolved. We would definitely eat there again on future trips to Charleston.
Cute spot, but way too loud. I could hardly heard my tablemates and we were seated in a booth. Food was just ok. Service was slow.
I came here with a group of 6 on a Friday night and they had our table ready and plenty of other open tables! I was surprised at how empty it was for a Friday night and the food was pretty decent. Only serve beer and wine though
Great casual environment with fresh high quality food at a great value.
Food mediocre. My husband's omelet was hot but my egg biscuit was not. Biscuit fell completely apart. Grits were cold and lumpy
Service was slow and inattentive. Even if the kitchen was behind, which it didn't seem to be because there were plenty of available tables, we were rarely checked on and had to ask the server to replenish our water. The food was ok, more of a soft boiled egg on a benedict. Busquit was good, fried steak was chewy. Hashbrowns were average. Overall just underwhelming and disappointed.
Stopped in for lunch. Started with the deviled eggs and She crab soup. Both were outstanding. I ordered the oyster po boy sandwich that was delicious. I highly recommended this restaurant.
Very good low-country menu. My wife had the fried chicken and I tried the perloo.
Virginia's is a simple, small restaurant which does comfort and southern foods. The chicken and dumplings were good, but not great. The salad with oysters was the same--good, but the arugula was overpowering. It would have been better with more different lettuces mixed in.
Lacks a cocktail menu or any liquor drinks. Service, food, and atmosphere were just average.
This was our first visit to Virginia's on King and we'll be back. The service was excellent, our server was very personable and knew the items on the menu. I got the catfish and grits which was one of the best meals I had in a long time, my husband got the fried chicken, macaroni and cheese and green beans which he thoroughly enjoyed. The food was freshly prepared and arrived steaming hot, everything about our dinner here was great. Very low-key and casual, nothing fancy just a great place to have a wonderful meal.
It was pretty good. The food was good and the service was slow. The bathroom smelled so bad that we waited to walk to our event to use the bathroom there. It's fine but not the first place I'd recommend to a friend.
Best Fried Chicken EVER!!! The entire staff was very pleasant and attentive. Thank you for an enjoyable evening.
Enjoyed our time there
We went here for a lunch while in Charleston. The food was amazing and the staff was so patient and professional! They were more than willing to help with dietary restrictions and allergies and we will certainly go back again soon!
GET. THE. POUTINE. Super good low country food in a really cool resto. Nice service, good local beer selection, and not too crowded of a space. We did go late on a Saturday so there were some very loud patrons, but it was still worth a visit.
Good food value at lunch
We were celebrating our 28th Anniversary the entire week. The restaurant 's ambiance was nice. The food was delicious. We had the Chicken n Dumplings and hubby had Fried chicken with mac n cheese. The waiter was nice. Oh, the cornbread was good too. Dinner ended with banana pudding. Overall, it was a nice experience. Only issue was the food menu online (fried catfish and a few others) wasn't served at this restaurant to our understanding.
Best fried chicken I have eaten, great corn bread , deliciousmac and cheese, excellent service, we are planning to go again.
Went there to get their fried chicken. Awful!! Salty and burnt.
Excellent food and great atmosphere!
perfect spot , food, history, hospitality and service
Outstanding all around experience! We ended up ordering after a large tour group placed their orders, so it took a bit longer for our meals to arrive - but the staff was very communicative and took great care of us!
It really was a horrible experience. Our waitress forgot to put in our appetizer order. Then it took 40 minutes to get our main order. Our glasses were always empty. She never came to see if our food was alright. My son's patty melt was inedible. The rest of the food was average at best. I am very disappointed.
One of our go-to spots for a quiet dinner with out-of-town guests. Great menu and service, very good selection of local cuisine.
Food and service were very good.
Very disappointed in Virginia’s on King. Made reservations weeks in advance for weekend brunch only to have a miserable meal. My wife and son’s meal were ok (nothing special) but mine was miserable. It was room temperature, dry and tasteless. By the time our waitress came back to check on us my wife and son were almost done so I was unable to order another meal. I settled for a bowl of grits - can’t screw that up. After I sent my order back I didn’t hear from a manager or someone in charge. Seemed like no one cared. Charleston offers dozens and dozens of high quality restaurants on and off peninsula. Skip Virginia’s and try one of those.
