   Why this restaurant would need or want a promotion; not very friendly and at first tried to tell us why they weren't going to honor our Pulsd promotion Then told us RED wine wasn't part of the promotion Then serviced us three course dinner in 30 rapid minutes, express service Then put down some brown colored thing alleged to be dessert, and we were told this is the “only dessert available on promotion” Promotion, Actually states order from full menu When I told them I could not eat chocolate, I was told "I'm out of luck" No one should ever be treated this way, specifically in a hospitality service industry. Background Music far to loud and unnecessary Food was OK, nothing special and steak was on cold side Portion on small size specially duck Staff not very friendly There are thousands of better restaurants, with better service, better food and wanting your business This is not one of them Best to miss this place and go somewhere else

   If Virginia's were in a different location, everyone would be talking about the delicious and original food they serve. It's a gem of a place for casual dining where every dish is original and where the staff is warm and friendly. Dinner and their Saturday brunch, both noteworthy.

   This was our third visit to Virginia's. The first was just a burger at the bar, probably one of the best I've ever had. Our second trip we had a full dinner and it was fantastic. I had the green circle chicken and my husband had the wagyu beef. Both outstanding. Delicate seasonings, quality sides. Today we had Saturday brunch; I recommend the corned beef hash with poached eggs. Yum. The restaurant is small and charming, the staff is delightful.

   Very good food served by the most pretentious unhelpful staff in all of NY. Virginias acts like it's a 5-star establishment, but at a 5-star establishment, the staff-and owner-would go out of their way to deliver exceptional service, fill requests and make their guests feel special. Instead, your $250 meal comes with beer in a can. And the staff is not looking to help--they're looking for compliments. When they get the slightest critique, they're defensive--instead of helpful. It's pretentious hipsterism at its worst, and on a seedy block off Avenue C.

   We had out of town guests who came in just to try Virginia's off-menu burger only available to those seated at the bar. They do not take reservations for the bar, so we were going to leave as they were full up. The maître d' allowed us an exception. Our dinner was saved, and we enjoyed one of the very best burgers in NYC. Thank you.

   Third time here. First time for brunch. Food was great as usual. Great service. Went at 2pm for a late brunch, so it wasn't crowded at all. Waitress recognized us from when we were here 7 months ago, which I thought was a bit odd. I would talk more about the food, but it would just be a tease because the chef changes up the menu every once in a while. Just a warning that the menu on the website might not be up to date. Regardless, of the 3 times I was here, I have not been disappointed with the food. The chef sometimes puts together ingredients that don't sound like they don't go together, but they work. This place is now my go to place for special occasions.

    Such an amazing restaurant with thoughtful and creative food that is balanced in flavor and weight (not heavy). On this evening i opted to order vegetarian. Got the cavatelli, market green salad to start and the hake and squash as mains. Everything is simple, delicate, yet maximized in flavor. Can't wait to go back to see what Matt does with meat!

    Excellent. First time visit. We opted for the Restaurant Week menu. Diverse choices and well- prepared. All nicely done. Wait staff was helpful in food and wine choices and quite accommodating when we added another person at the last moment. A bit out of the way but worth the effort.

    Ordered restaurant week dinner of cold soup, fish, cobbler. Excellent. Bar tender made a special cocktail for my friend and she loved it. Waiter brought us wine to taste. Only things that slightly detracted were noisy people at next table, we were left alone too long at one point, and my friend's dessert was cleared before she finished. They brought another one immediately. Overall a lovely dinner in a nice setting with good service. Will return.

    I thought it was a bit ridiculous that they wouldn't allow me to order the burger unless I was seated at the bar, particularly on a Wednesday evening when they were not very busy, and my friend and I were ordering wine and appetizers, so clearly we were running a pretty high bill (and the burger itself is not inexpensive).

    Fantastic experience. Staff were super accommodating and friendly. We were craving the burger, which is only available at the bar, so they seated us at table and promptly moved us to the bar when two spots became available. The burger? Spectacular. One of the city's absolute best. Bravo, Virginia's. I'll be back, for sure.

    Amazing experience. Blown away with the food. Tagliatelle with sea urchin was spicy and well seasoned. Paired with a sparkling wine from Burgundy. Chickpea panisse was one of the best vegetarian meals I've had in a year. Paired with a Californian Pinot Noir which was recommended by our server. Really great pairing.

    This was a great find top food and attentive service. The duck was phenomenal, and the portion size was generous. I would also recommend the apple crisp. My only complaint is there might be 1 table too many- it was a little squished- but the people sitting next to us were cool so we were happy to chat.

    This was a great meal. The pasta, with Jonah crab and Maine sea urchin was fabulous, as was the duck breast. My wife had the octopus appetizer. Exceptionally well presented and tender. Great wine list and service. We will be back.

    Amazing food, great service! I recommend the burger, it was orgasmic and now in top 5 list (top 5 top 5). Cocktails were uber delicious and paired well with the menu. I would definitely recommend this neighborhood spot to friends/family/out-of-towners!

    Virginia's is a great addition to Alphabet City, a neighborhood I have always loved. The off the beaten track location means you can usually score a seat early in the evening although reservations are recommended. The cuisine here is really solid and changes with the seasons. The wine list is also diverse and well selected. I recommend Virginia's if you like "in the know" kind of places that are not too popular for their own good. Plus they now have a full liquor license so they can serve real cocktails.
