Virgil's Real BBQ - New York City
Employees were great, food was really good!
We made 8pm reservations when we arrived we were promptly seated. The food was very good and filling and the service was good. Definitely recommend!
Expérience très américaine ! Les quantités sont astronomiques. Les ribs, un délice !!
My husband and I have been to Virgil’s many times. We both enjoyed our dinner very much. The bridket was delicious as was my salad. Although I don’t remember our Waitresse’s name, she was by far one of the best wait persons ever! She was smart, knowledgable about the food and came over to check on us often enough.
My dad was a waiter snd I have a habit of organizing dishes and cutlery atvtge end of a meal to make it easier to clear. This lovely woman is the only person that I can recall that ever thanked me for doing it!!! As silly as it sounds, I was really touched by this.
Great BBQ. The atmosphere was great too. Give it try.
Ambiance was great, definitely recommend the train wreck fries!
Virgil’s is always a go to food spot for us. The drinks are great and the food is generally top notch. This may be the first time out of 20 times I’ve been there when the food was just OK. I ordered the BBQ Chicken half asi always do. This time it was way over cooked and horribly over seasoned and way over-smoked. I had to remove the skin to make it even remotely edible. The sides were awesome as usual and the Banana Pudding was just incredible! Please don’t ever serve a piece of chicken like I received. I’ll go back...but I’m gonna ask to see what the chicken looks like before I order it again.
When we walked in I overheard the hostess say to the party in front of us 20-25 minutes wait. I gave my name and 4 minutes later we were seated. The waitress was pleasant and efficient. Very good time
Virgil's is always great! I never have any suggestions because I wouldn't want them to change anything.
Great experience our waiter was very accommodating and he was just amazing!! Will reccomend!
Server asked about allergies and was very helpful with selecting dishes. Everything was delicious and it was a fun place to eat.
Again, another great meal at Virgil's. There were a lot of kids there on school tours, so it was a bit loud, but overall, it was a great experience.
Great Tasty Food, In A Super Location. Great for a Pre or Post Theatre Meal.
Arriving 10 minutes early at the restaurant I was told I could not be seated as, “the table’s not ready”. My choice was to stand in the very crowded and extremely noisy bar area, or outside in the cold, but not to block the entryway. So I went elsewhere. 10 minutes after the reservation time I tried to cancel on the Open Table app only to be told that I would have to call the restaurant personally. That was not going to happen.
Great service. Our waiter James gave us great service and we were well taken care of.
Took my girlfriend into the city for her birthday and had to take her to Virgil’s Real BBQ. Virgil’s BBQ has never disappointed me, the dry rub ribs are meaty and juicy, the Mac and cheese is the best around, the corn bread could be a meal in its self. We only had a lite lunch before walking around and seeing a play however I have had full dinner meals there before and have needed a hand truck to get myself back to the hotel.
Elvis was our waiter, he and every other member of the staff make you feel welcome at Virgil’s.
We had a reso but decided to sit in the lively bar area and people watch. Fun! Ribs were great, and the corn bread with sweet butter was very tasty. Ribs, Rock and Roll. Great early Sunday meal with my friend UB whose new nick name is now Virgil (I'm Homer).
Virgil’s wouldn’t survive if it was in any other part of Manhattan, but in the Theatre District it’s another overpriced underwhelming dining option so common around Times Square. The brisket is over cooked, the pork is dry and the sides are bland. Have beer and share some appetizers or better yet go fifty feet down the street to the Lambs Club Bar.
I live on Long Island, and this restaurant was worth the trek into the city. Service was excellent, drinks and food were great. I would, definitely, return
Food was amazing, would definitely recommend this restaurant
Amazing BBQ! Great atmosphere great service!! Would definitely recommend!
Good food but expect to be in and out in a flash. We booked for half 8, were seated on time and had food in front of us within 15 minutes. As soon as the cutlery hit the plates they were whisked away and the check was given to us. It wasn't that busy so can't understand the rush to get us out. Service was mediocre for the States (i.e. far better than what we get in the UK but very average for the US).
Very chill place to eat, excellent food and quick friendly service. We made reservations for 6pm on a Friday before an 8pm show. We were seated right away and had plenty of time to eat our meal, enjoy our drinks, and savor dessert.
Food was average. Service was great. Ribs were tough. Brisket was good
Always a great place to meet up with friends. Meal is good. Prices are reasonable. No one in my party had any complaints. The trainwreck fries are delicious. Ordered a small for 4 on the waiters recommendation but should have ordered a large. Tables are not on top of each other. Have been there before and will go back.
The food is great and also the service. For me it is too LOUD, but by the time we left I didn't notice it so much. I know we are paying for the Real Estate and not the food, I just think $30.00 for grilled catfish, collard greens and beans is a lotta dough... but convenient if you are going to a show.
We really enjoy this restaurant—we’ve been several times before. Tonight we were going to a broadway show they got us in and out quickly. The service was great and the food was too. It’s authentic BBQ!!
Generic bbq. Food was good not great. Ribs were good. Table bbq sauces were very good. Brisket was dry and the portion was small. Very good sides: onion rings, mac n cheese and baked beans. Service was very good. NYC probably isn’t the best place to find great bbq.
Great food and fabulous services from our server Josh. Would highly recommend and we’ll definitely go back.
Great Barbecue...perfect after theater destination....or before theater.
Food was cold, mine and my wife’s
Kids were fine
Waiter seemed to be annoyed that we sent our meal back
It needs to be said that the taste and flavor was good but the temp was not barb b q hot
Every time we come to NYC it's a must
It was my birthday and I couldn't have picked a better place to go
While a popular Times Square tourist spot, Virgil's food is consistently good, and the service is friendly. Because it's large and has a constant turnover, it can be a bit noisy. However the ribs, brisket, fried chicken and chicken fried steak are so good and affordable, that as a native New Yorker I still enjoy eating there.
We had the best time. I wanted a kid friendly pre-theatre restaurant and Virgil's was spot on. Everyone enjoyed their meal- parents and kids approved. I would highly recommend Virgil's Real BBQ for people wanting a fun and festive, casual spot to have dinner before a show.
It was a nice restaurant...our waiter was great and attentive!
Barbeque was good. Had baby back ribs and they were very good. Sides were average. Service was great and quick. Pricey for barbeque, but it's NY
Good food, not great. Impressive beer selection. Tight tables so don’t bring a lot with you (heavy jacket, shopping bags)
I loved the corner table by the window . It was very cozy for me and my date
Food was great! Authentic BBQ in the heart of Times Square! Our waitress was fantastic! She really made the entire experience just great!
Love Virgil’s! We’ve been there before. Quality and portion size is always consistent.....delicious! We’ve Virgil’s to other friends who travel to the Theater District or Times Square.
