Virgil’s Real BBQ has been acclaimed as one of America’s top 10 BBQ restaurants by leading food critics. Established 1994 in the heart of NYC’s Times Square, Virgil’s Real BBQ has become the popular destination for millions of tourist & locals.
Virgil’s Real BBQ was developed after extensive research, including a nationwide road trip in search of the best that BBQ has to offer. Local styles including Memphis pork ribs & chicken & Carolina pulled pork.
Our meats are smoked at a low temperature over indirect heat for up to ten hours with a unique mix of hickory, oak & fruit woods in order to impart the most flavor & to keep the meat from drying out. To complement the main menu of BBQ specialties, we also offer a generous selection of traditional sides like barbecue beans, coleslaw & cheese grits & Southern-style desserts like banana pudding & Key Lime pies.
Virgils was outstanding! Amazing service and food! Food was amazing quality and our service was brilliant!
The restaurant was quiet because Broadway was dark.
We had the best waiter Matt. We asked his recommendations & he was absolutely correct. Food was excellent!
Ask for Matt when you go there.
It’s always a pleasure to come in with my out of town buddies and get the best wings around.
And we had a server that was a true whisky enthusiast that turned us on to some great new drinks
This place is just fun. It’s not pretentious, the food and drinks are great, and the location if you’re looking for a bite to eat before a show is perfect. Hands down a good old time in times square
Had a great evening out with my niece.💜
It was great!
Awesome service, friendly waiters, and great food!
Great food with great service from Chase!
Nice atmosphere-very relaxing?
The server was inattentive. We had to ask for drinks 3 times. I’ve never returned a margarita before and could not drink this one. Don’t recommend ordering from the bar unless it’s wine.
St Louis ribs were great. Slaw just ok. Baked beans good. Cornbread muffin was overdone.
Would not go back.
Very tasty bbq food
Favorite place for wings!! They are fall off the bone, finger- lickin' great.
BBQ is not my favorite. My guests liked it.
Being a sister restaurant of Carmine’s, we expected to have a great last meal in NYC at Virgil’s. Unfortunately, our waitress was inattentive and had a nasty attitude. Our appetizer was incorrect when it came out and took over 30 minutes to be corrected. The brisket was extremely fatty, the beans were barely room temperature and the mac and cheese tasted like a custom seasoned Velveeta. We were so excited to eat here as it was right across the street from our hotel and we were hoping to get a great meal before catching our flight home, but were extremely disappointed in the end.
The food us always wonderful. But $7+ for two biscuits is not reasonable. The second floor bounces when people walk so it's not always comfortable
Great Times Square location. Good food and service.
If you like bbq, great place. Also great for big parties and near theater Service was AMAZING!
Fast service, a must for a pre-theatre dinner. Pricey soft drinks, but free refills. We had the pig out combo for 2, which included 3 large ribs with a nice rub, 1/2 chicken, pulled pork, and brisket. Portion size was good. Tasty corn bread included. Mashed potatoes were watery. baked beans had too much sauce and not enough beans, but was tasty. All things considered, a reasonably priced decent place to eat before a show.
Top dollar BBQ food in NYC. Great service as wel.
Great Food, Atmosphere, and staff. I will absolutely be back!
The food and service was great. The waiter was attentive. I loved the collars greens.
I was disappointed with the food. Barbecue didn’t live up to the hype. Wait staff pushed pricey sides to increase your tab.
Staff was really responsive, very polite, just wonderful and the food was amazing. Thank you for everything!
Slow service, food was bland, not what I expected!
Great service, great food!
Have eaten here since it opened. Always loved it. First bad meal. Tasteless, fatty brisket. Not enough sauce. Stale biscuit. Soggy potatoes.
Michael was our server, he was excellent. Really friendly and really knowledgeable. Service was fast and food was delicious. My husband said the half chicken was the best chicken he had ever had!
Great food, great service and the prices are budget friendly.
If you like smoked meats, this is the place for you. Portions are very large, so make sure to share. It is an iconic Times Square location.
Quite a nice place to enjoy dinner here, food and service is great! Will come back again next time visit here!
Good food, good service. Super busy and quite lousy
Amazing as always! The food is delicious, and the service is wonderful. We also really appreciate the speed of the meal; the food comes out so quickly, but you never feel rushed to get through your meal.
Great ribs as usual. Love the cole slaw! And they have Kentucky beer. What could be better?
Coffee was warm I prefer hot coffee. The waffles was amazing especially with fresh berries. Value for money.
We booked a table here after a friend recommended we try it, and it didn’t disappoint. We were seated quickly and given enough time to look through the menu. Our server was brilliant. The food was outstanding and there was plenty of it. The ribs were gorgeous and just fell apart. This place is a real winner and we will definitely be booking a table the next time we visit NYC.
I made a reservation and turned up at the time stated we was shown to our table and asked for our drinks order and given a menu then given time to choose our food the food was served promptly and it was delicious,we wasn't rushed at all and the overall experience was great
Very good overall
Wonderful. The food was amazing and the service was great. Superb value for money
The food was good, but overall I was pretty disappointed. We ordered alcoholic drinks that ended up being way too strong to even enjoy. We also ordered apps prior to our food and about 1 minute into our appetizers our meal came out. We felt very rushed and could not enjoy our food since everything was getting cold. We didn’t even have time to finish our appetizers before getting our meals. By the time I got to my meal it was not even hot due to it coming it way too soon. We were in and out of there in 40 mins with drinks apps and our entrees. The experience was way too fast and it was not at all what my boyfriend and I was looking for to enjoy a nice date after a broadway show. Once our food came out of waiter was no where to be found. As I said the drinks were too strong so we really wanted to waters with our food, but by the time he came back it was to ask if we would like dessert meanwhile another waitress had already brought us our check. Very unorganized and very rushed.
We have eaten here many times (really like the food) but the last two the service has been very slow, hard to find our server or get the check. Maybe not staffing correctly??
I already love the place. Just go there if you want BBQ
Wonderful meal, loved the trash fries and nachos. Our server ,Nat , was great. We were there Saturday night with our grandchildren and didn’t feel rushed despite the restaurant being very busy.
