Virgil's Real BBQ - New York City
This was an awesome experience for my first time visiting New York. The food was delicious and the drinks (I had the Virgils version of the Bloody Mary - see pic) to die for. I will make this a guaranteed stop everytime I visit NY!
Superb meat in a friendly atmosphere.
Great food and even better service!! We had the Pig Out platter for 2, which was phenomenal. The drinks are strong and tasty.
Yes i will recommend. As usual :-)
Coming from France, we discovered this restaurant 5 years ago and it was obvious to come back again !
Our waiter made some food recommendations, chicken wings that were fantastic and the family style bbq platter which had a great selection of some of there favorites.
Food was delicious.
Food was very good especially the meats. Experience marred by a rude waiter in a foul mood who changed his tune slightly when called out on it. Otherwise a good stop.
David our waiter was very nice. Did like him a lot.
Excellent staff at the bar
Very enjoyable meal. Service was attentive and food was good!
Overall the food was good but service was a little slow due to the large number of people in the restaurant. The restaurant was a little expensive but reasonable for Times Square restaurants. Good BBQ and a good atmosphere.
Outstanding food and service! All were happy and we will be back!
We had lunch at Virgil’s on Saturday in celebration of my sister’s birthday and it was wonderful! First our server told us a little about the restaurant and then made recommendations for delicious drinks the we did enjoy. The food was also delicious (Especially the brisket)! The portions were large and we came home with doggie bags. Unfortunately I don’t remember our server’s name but he was wonderful. He was polite and gave service with a smile. Would definitely recommend this restaurant if you like “soul” food!
The food was very good, with good service, overall I was pleased
This was our first visit to New York and we wanted to try a BBQ restaurant and this was a good choice the service was good and the food also but we did ask for things like no gravely on the mash but it still came with it
But that said we loved it !!
Lots of bbq options. Tasty. Lost of sides options too. A classic. Not a tourist trap! Enjoy!
Amazing BBQ! Great service, perfect timing to eat before the Broadway show! Would definitely recommend and will definitely visit again!
Wings are the best in the world! Fast service and love the atmosphere.
Excellent food with great service well
Worth a visit
The food was totally delicious, I ordered the Memphis style ribs. The margarita literally had no liquor in it but the server was willing to fix it so that was nice of him. My mom also ordered a cheeseburger but got no cheese but the server was willing to fix it. Other than that everything else was fine.
A fun place with great comfort food!
I loved the pulled pork and potato salad and baked beans!
Service was very friendly and efficient!
I was actually surprised at the quality of the BBQ. There was a nice bark on the ribs and the meat was smokey and moist. I would rather have had my meats without the sauce - their spice rub is more in the Memphis style while the sauce used was a vinegary Carolina style. The portions were good and the cost, especially in the heart of NY's theater district was good.
Comimos bien, comida muy abundante (tal vez demasiado y se echó de menos que no lo hubiera advertido el camarero, creemos que fue para recibir más propina) y buen servicio.
Very nice service and food in one of the greatest neighborhood of the city !
Great dining experience and wish I could remember my server's name but her statement that she felt like she worked in her living room sums it up. Warm, welcoming and made us feel like we were long lost relatives. Great service!
Spettacolo! Ribs divine, maiale sfilacciato una delizia, atmosfera al top. Gentilissimi i camerieri.... con il 18% di mancia sul totale ci credo che sono gentili!!!
Great barbecue and also good options for the kids!
Our server and the manager on for the night were excellent. As soon as he introduced himself. Asked if we had any food allergies (we are GF and DF) and they took care of my friend and I. Excellent food and a relaxed good vibed setting.
Tourists in Times Square with a hankering for hefty portions of intensely-flavored BBQ will find a haven at Virgil’s. This capacious eatery can accommodate large parties of a dozen or more without even blinking. Thie place is great for a big family outing, but I wouldn’t suggest it as an intimate romantic venue to propose to your sweetheart.
The pig out for two didn’t look like that much food when it arrived. That feeling changed quickly. I really enjoyed the meal and the Mac and cheese and beans. The flavour all around was great.
We booked reservations here for our first dinner in NYC, and we were not disappointed! Starting with the hostess on to our server and the food, all was wonderful! My daughter has the Trainwreck Fries which she totally enjoyed, and my husband and I shared the Pig Out Platter. All of the meat was delicious, the sauces were perfect, and the macaroni and cheese was incredible...it was my favorite! Our server, Matt, was excellent! We will definitely come back on our next trip to NYC!
Amazing place. Visited 10 years ago and had to visit again and take our sons with us. Authentic American restaurant which isn't overly priced with a great atmosphere.
Love this place. Great spot for when you're in time square area. I've been there twice and food is excellent. Atmosphere is loud but that is to be expected. Service was also great so overall I highly recommend. Get the chilly!
I was quite disappointed with the food
Orders trash ribs
Rest stringy and tough
Back to Dallas next time
Ribs were very dry, sides were all over cooked. Very loud on the first floor. Service was horrible. Had 4 people come to the table but no one took ownership. Had we not been meeting family we would have left. Drinks were very watered down. Worst experience we had in Times Square.
Dry meat, poor taste, black surface with poor taste also. Would not recommend.
We had a wonderful waitress and the food was delicious
We tried eating just appetizers this time and it was a great idea. Their plates are huge, so we had a great meal.
Ordered starters and they just came with the main course, next they asked do we still want the starters . Nacho was having 3 meats all did taste the same not a great experience. Server was really friendly
We truly enjoyed ourselves here. Although our cute server was busy, with the help of his coworkers, we were all well taken care of by them. The food was warm and delicious. I would strongly encourage you to try the wings.
I think Virgil’s is very overrated. Service was not very good as when it was happy hour the waiter told us to get our own beer either downstairs or at the bar and would not serve us. Food was large portions and tasted like a whole bunch of sugar was added to the whole meal. If you are looking for fresh healthy and tasty meal option, don’t go to Virgil’s.
