Excellent good and service from Ellie.
We will be back.
This was a FANATSTIC option for our family before seeing a show. Our son has a food allergy and he was presented with a special menu letting him know what was safe for him- and then the chef made him something that wasn't even on the menu that he requested (our son is 10). We all loved our food, the service, and are already looking forward to going back.
Awesome location and food.
I am 100% biased about BBQ due to a childhood misspent in the mountains of North Carolina. Virgil's serves tasty food, and the service is first rate. It's just not at the upper echelon of what great BBQ is capable of achieving. That said, we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch, and recommend it as a fun, reasonably priced meal near Times Square. :)
Good value for money, Enthusiastic wait staff. Best to make reservations.
Always a great experience. The staff was attentive, the food was delicious. Hugh servings. Arrived at 7pm on a Monday and we were seated right away.
Outstanding BBQ!! Brisket sandwich was amazing! Ribs were great too, however, I'd get the brisket again and again!
Very convenient for Theater District. Good BBQ, considering you are in NYC. Portions are very generous!
Great casual bbq brought to you by the owners of Carmine's. Exactly what you would expect on the menu from a barbecue joint. Pricing is okay for food in NYC. 2 bottles of domestic beer cost 15 bucks.
Great for families, large groups and a casual night out. Been before and after broadway shows.
The food was always amazing, but our server was a little slow, and when we asked to see a dessert menu, he brought us our check. We paid the bill and left. I don't think he understood what we were asking for, and didn't seem to be too interested in us
Food was great as it usually is. A lot of BBQ enthusiasts who left with a full belly and big smile. Portions were good and full of subtle flavor. It’s a family favorite.
Food was delicious. Our waiter was delightful and took good care of us—especially the 2 children at our table. Always have a terrific tine at Virgil’s!
The service was terrible. The order was wrong and the manager didn’t even apologize
Took over an hour from order to food arriving. Tables all around us were served in less than 30 minutes. Server was overwhelmed and most likely did not put our order in the system in a timely manner. My kids ordered sprite and the syrup was out as it tasted like club soda. Server was informed and never brought back new drinks to replace those.
Food was good. The only problem was we went for kids night on broadway and they advertised get a free meal of equal or lower price for each broadway ticket but when we got there they only let us chose from kids menu. Still good portions but didn't honor advertisement.
It took a bit of time until we were approached by our waitress (it was not that busy when we got there and we did have reservations) but she was very nice.
BBQ was good but have had better elsewhere. The brisket was not as tender as it should’ve been although the ribs were quite tender. I like fall off the bone brisket and this wasn’t. The sides were very good. I had the baked beans and cole slaw. Other diner had collard greens and grits. The key lime pie was good but we did not like the whipped cream topping.
Went out to see Broadway show with wife, son and his girlfriend. Made reservation for 4. Got seated right away. Nice waiter. Food was awesome. Got out in time to go and watch the show.
Great food. Service could be better.
Everything was good but could have been great. I think there's a bit too much focus on controlling costs and that impacts guest enjoyment. The food was good but a tiny portion of cole slaw, small portion of cheese grits and one corn muffin. That is not BBQ style. Still the food, service and ambiance was good and I could go again
AUTHENTIC BAR-B-QUE! ALL EIGHT OF US ORDERED SOMETHING DIFFERENT AND EVERYTHING WAS GREAT! BEST ONION RINGS WE EVER HAD! SERVICE WAS A LITTLE SLOW BUT IT WAS A SATURDAY NIGHT AND VERY CROWDED SO THAT WAS UNDERSTANDABLE. LOOK FORWARD TO GOING BACK!
The place was quite and the atomosphere was great along with the food.
Food, food portions, and food wait time were great. They could improve on the server service though. Overall, I would definitely go back there again.
Food was really good, especially the sides! The service was extremely slow, but it was packed. Really happy we were seated upstairs...much more comfortable up there. We’d definitely go back.
We have eaten at the Virgin's in February while we where in NYC for a city Trip.
We are from the Netherlands and we liked the restaurant! Good service and food with energic music. A Must Eat when you are in NYC - Just around the corner of Times Square (West 44th Street)
Terrific ribs, waiter, collard greens. Felt welcomed and appreciated.
Great food! Will return. Was seated timely and waited on promptly
Good food and good drinks
Great ribs. Most dishes were good. Service could be better. Waiter got one order completely wrong
Ribs great, Mac N Cheese Great, Brisket Great. Service with Juan also GREAT! Native NY’er and love coming here. Took 3 friends for their first time and they LOVED. Great pre theater dining.
Ribs were tough, chicken was cold. Salad was delicious. Too much money for subpar service and food. Very disappointed.
We were surprised to find BBQ this good just steps away from Times Square. the die hard BBQ fans in our group were skeptical until they tried the food. From appetizers to sides to main dishes, everything was great. The portions are really big, so next time we will consider sharing. The restaurant is a little loud, so if you are looking for a quiet date night, this is not the place for you.
Looking forward to my next business trip. Virgil's is now on my NYC favorites list!
Great service and great food everything you can ask for.
We’ve been to Virgil’s quite a few times and have never left dissatisfied. I would highly recommend to anyone who enjoys BBQ!!
Our group really enjoyed the atmosphere and the service. The food was excellent!
3rd time to New York, 4th time to Virgil’s. Never disappoints, food outstanding and we got served this time by David. His knowledge of the food & beer was further complimented by his gracious and accommodating approach to our group of 7. I couldn’t not recommend him and Virgil’s to anyone, best place off time square by a country mile! P.s their baby back ribs were as some of us brits say, cushty!
My guest was super impressed with the wings and the ribs.
Loved the strawberry lemonade
I usually love Virgil BBQ Brisket Sandwich but this time it came out of kitchen Room Temperature, Bah. Waitstaff and Manager were very solicitous and concerned, gave me many Tsk tsks and "oh my"s but did nothing else. One other thing, take Coney Island Root Beer off the menu, meant to be a marriage of beer and root beer...the worst of both worlds. And i ought to know, I am from the Coney Island neighborhood.
good bbq in the theater district. portions are good. prices are fine for the food. desserts are ok nothing great. noisy upstairs slightly quieter downstairs
We are regulars. This was our after-movie dinner. Savannah Salad without any pork and additional avocado slices with Grilled chicken: They have improved the greens’ mix. Grilled chicken was fresh( sometimes is not and it gets dry) Kansas Fried chicken all white meat was on point. The best part was as always Livia. She just remembers what we like and how we liked. Always a pleasure. This is a great joint pre or post shows.
