First place we went to when we arrived in NYC. Great food, lovely staff and a fantastic vibe. The place was decorated in a really cozy way and our server was friendly and knowledgeable about the area which was great for us as we're just visiting. Food was really delicious and arrived quickly, drinks were fantastic and reasonably priced.
Greta place for a comfort food meal before a show in NYC, or just to celebrate.
Great food and staff
Great food and service!
The service and food were outstanding!!
We love Virgils. So glad to see it "back." And with some interesting new additions to the menu, added to all our old favs.
We went to see Come From Away. It was the first Broadway show that we have seen actually on Broadway in over 8 years. We used to go several times a year and would often eat at Virgil’s. The BBQ was as good as I remember. I had the combo with ribs and brisket. Both were excellent. My wife really likes pulled pork and enjoyed Virgil’s. We will probably make a point of going to the city just to go to Virgil’s even if we don’t go to a show.
Service was good, drinks were great, food was okay.
Mac and cheese I would not recommended. The salmon was a bit off. Fried chicken was decent. Collard greens I thought were good but others mentioned too much vinegar and/or sugar. Ribs were tasty as well as the backed chicken and 14 oz steak. Baked beans and potato salad were delicious.
Went on a Sunday after a matinee. Seated right away, though we were a bit early. They make the best fried pickles I have ever had Banana pudding is excellent too. Servers were lovely, friendly professional and helpful. Virgils is a dependable place in theater district.
The southern mule and margarita were amazing in taste and size. The food overall was delicious. The cornbread though, wasn’t to found with.
Food was great. Wait staff very attentive.
Absolutely fantastic food, service and atmosphere!
The food and service are always great! Large portions, always lots left to take home.
We were checked in right away - waitress was super friendly and attentive. Our food was hot - hush puppies are amazing.
Have a wonderful time.
Great post-show meal. Food and service were great and their covid policies were awesome.
I enjoyed my 1st visit to Virgil's. My companion had been numerous times. My server Troy was attentive and lively. The food was good but not great. The restaurant was not as expected. I thought it would be a bit more classy. Overall the experience was nice.
Virgil's is sister restaurant to Carmine's then some one in management needs to provide oversight.
Defenatley won't go back but will continue to make the 3hour drive for Carmine's!!!
Wait Staff not personable, food just okay, multiple items out of stock. The table next to us had a child who wanted a Hot Dog, sorry all out, the manager should have gotton this staple for kids before opening....etc.
Worst service I’ve ever experienced in New York so far. Our waitress was chatting at the bar and laughing with her bartender friend. We had to ask someone else for additional drinks and check as she would never come.
Our server was amazing and patient. A party of 9 grew to 16! She handled with ease and friendliness! My son's fried chicken was dryer that a hot Arizona day but she got him another order with a smile. Pricing was a surprise but food was good.
Bonne nourriture et style usa. Personnel sympa. On s y sent bien
Food and drinks was amazing
I recommend the Carolina pulled pork with the complimentary 2 sides.
Super Service and Ribs!
Food and service was awesome as usual! Everything was great!!
Our server was wonderful. We shared the pig out and it was more than enough for the three of us.
Good food. Good service. Disappointed that grilled shrimp was no longer on the menu.
Food temp not as hot as I like.. waitress stated that is the biggest complaint from customers. I understand meat has to rest but prefer my food hot.. including the cool corn muffins served with ice cold butter that would never melt. I like the food but took most of it home to eat hot.
Enjoyed the hospitality. I requested to watch the Knicks game and they turned it on for me.. I appreciate that!
Classico ristorante/pub americano. Cibo di buona qualità. Considerando il periodo natalizio non abbiamo aspettato neanche molto per mangiare. Consigliato
Good atmosphere fast food
Food was excellent however the servers were confused who was taking care of us. One took our order after we waited 15 minutes. Another brought us our drinks. A third gave us our food.
A great value for money, and a great food quality !
Ok for neighborhood food
We have been going to Virgil's for more than a decade and always loved it but we may not be going back. Memphis ribs were tiny and dry, not the juicy, meaty ribs of the past. Our server also was not great -- not very nice and tried to take our plates while we still were eating. The thing that put it over the edge, though, was that they packed us and others into the downstairs -- so table social distancing at all -- while the upstairs was empty. NYC is facing a COVID spike and this, combined with the wait staff not wearing or improperly wearing masks, made for an annoying and worrying experience. Sad to have come away with such a negative feeling toward a long-time favorite.
Típico restaurante de NY, excelente comida
Food was amazing, we regally enjoyed typical American flavors
I appreciate them sitting us as a big party. The service was terrible past that. We were constantly having to ask for the necessities like drinks and silverware. We heard the waitress complaining that we were “needy”. Apparently we have very different definitions of “needy”. Food was okay. BBQ dishes were seasoned well but non BBQ dishes were salt-free. Would have been a much better experience if the staff weren’t so rude but…they were. Good restaurant to eat once but you’ll probably never want to go back.
The food was good...the Frozen Strawberry lemonade was awesome! Thanks Rama(sp) you were awesome! Rama made the experience a good one.
The food was delicious, but our entrees came out before our appetizers, so we ended up just sending the apps back. Very generous portions. The pork belly sandwich was awesome.
Excellent atmosphere and service. Was our favorite of all the restaurants in NY that we visited. We were seated and served promptly. Food was fantastic and I had the best margarita I have ever had! My mother in law said her Bloody Mary was fantastic. Great menu options, prices were fair considering. Our server was amazing!
Christmas Day. Just one word - awesome
