Virgil's Real BBQ - New York City
As always, everything was great. That's why we keep going back when we're in the city. Noise level was quiet because we were there early. Usually it's pretty moderate
Buon bbq con cibo fresco spettacolari le patate schiacciate!!
It was just okay- nothing special. Had to ask for utensils and waited 20 minutes for drinks- server wasn't the best. Food was alright for the price. normal bbq- nothing spectacular.
Delicious brisket, Memphis dry rub ribs and pecan pie!!!
Was in NYC for the extended veteran's day weekend. I decided to walk to Virgil's from my hotel for breakfast. The chicken and waffles with the country gravy and a side of thick cut bacon and coffee was absolutely outstanding. I highly recommend it.
We had a great time. The food was exactly what we were hoping for. We were sat upstairs which we loved because we were a big group and didn’t want to feel squashed in. Our server, David was so friendly, he answered all our questions about the menu and was so patient with our kids as they ordered. He made small talk with us and even gave some great information about an upcoming sporting event. We would definitely try it again!
The overall service was good but the food could have been a little bit better.
Virgil's Real BBQ has been our "go to" restaurant when we are in New York to see Broadway performances. Our group wants to return to Virgil's in the near future. Thank you.
Lousy food and yes it was packed foreigners and Americans have no taste. Service lousy. Don't go before a show.
Fantastic brisket sandwich. Sides ok...need more flavor. Generous portions.
Before Broadway show
Virgil’s has awesome barbecue and a great variety of meats and sides (but no baby backs, though the regular ribs are excellent).. we definitely overordered (in most restaurants, 4 chicken wings would be a one person snack - not at Virgil’s!) and it was so delicious we ate more than we ought. We liked everything we ordered but felt the ribs were outstanding. And OH YEAH our server Dave was the bomb - so friendly, courteous, helpful, right there when we needed him. Kudos!
If you want real get-your-hands-dirty BBQ in NYC this is the place to go. Not for anyone on a diet (although they do have delicious salads) the pulled pork, the ribs, the hush puppies are all terrific. Our waiter was funny on top of it all this last visit, which made it all that much better.
We had the rib special and were not disappointed The food was served quickly and was plentiful . Even though the noise was elevated you were able to converse across the table
We were a few minutes late but were seated immediately.
Best food in NYC. All homemade and tastes fantastic. Staff are very friendly. Virgil’s BBQ Burger is the best!
Great food. Rather rushed between courses
Great food ! Very nice waitress ! Good ambiance ! And near our location in Times Square
From the waiter to the meal, everything was great !
I was even able to book a tablez for 9 by the internet and abroad in few clicks
amazing food and waitress was very friendly and attentive
I didn't like my food at all. Very disappointed. I didn't get what I ordered. Greasy. I expected authentic southern BBQ, not even close.
the brisket was very very fatty and felt we were served a portion of brisket that was 1/3 fat.
the wait staff was basically absent and inattentive.
You get what you pay for. I wouldn’t return, the food made me feel quite sick. We went straight back to the hotel after.
The service we received from what appeared to be the head waiter was appalling. We were rushed and the bill was presented to us even before we had finished our drinks. He was rude to us and stood over us as we were figuring out what to pay. This spoilt the whole experience especially as we were also celebrating our birthdays. We would never come back.
It gets crowded, so make a reservation. But it's worth the wait, the place has a very cool vibe and the food was just DELISH!!!!!
The food is very flavorful and prices are great!!!
We came after a Broadway show. There were 13 in our party. Most from out of town and had never eaten at Virgil's. Everyone was very pleased with the service, food and overall attentiveness to our requests. I had the blacken salmon, with cole slaw and collar greens, sooo good. Virgil's Real BBQ
will definitely see us again.
We were seated right away. Enjoyed all of the food we were served. Would go back again. A casual atmosphere, just what we were looking for.
I’ve been here numerous times. The service is outstanding and the food never disappoints. My friends and I truly enjoyed our lunch. We especially enjoyed our mixed drink: Hawaiian BBQ. Will definitely be ordering that next time I’m there!
Would recommend as a must place to eat at when in New York. Quick service, good food with large portions. Will visit again
We came here after a 7 hour trip and was met with such a great service.
My child was a bit cranky after such a long flight, but the servers made sure he had much to entertain him with.
Such great service is hard to come by.
Good food. Good service. No trouble getting to play on time.
Would have given a five star review for the food, but even though we had a reservation through open table, we had to wait almost 30 minutes to be seated and almost missed our show.
Have been here before. Went specifically for the baby back ribs. They are like no other. Huge, large portion, delicious. Sides are also good. Corn muffin tasteless. Service quick. This is not a place to have a leisurely meal.
We had a very meh experience at Virgil’s bbq. The menu is expansive, and the restaurant is nice, but those are the only real positives. We wanted nachos, but you can’t get them with just chicken, so we opted for hush puppies. Not the same but tasty. The major fail came with my son’s order. He ordered fried chicken, but he got chicken fried steak. The server actually argued with me when the food came out, saying he ordered the steak. I had to request a menu and point out the chicken! The manager came over to apologize but offered nothing for our trouble except to say it would be a while because the fried chicken takes some time. Overall, the food was average, service was sub-par, and the price was high. We’ll stick to other better tourist traps in Times Square.
Virgils is always my standby for a solid inexpensive meal. It’s just too crowded at peak hours. Still I’d go back....
We were so excited to return to NYC to eat at Virgil’s. We ate here many years ago and it was excellent. We were very disappointed. Our food was cold, even the sides. The chicken was dry and hard to swallow. The ribs were flavorful but tough. Not going back.
Very generous portions of multiple BBQ options in a relaxed setting. It does get busy so a booking is recommended.
Food very good , bit too noisy for our liking , service ok , could be better
Fabulous food and great service. Finally a NYC restaurant you can hear yourself think!
